Our favorite way to get to Hollywood Studios is to walk to Trail's End for breakfast and then take an internal bus to the bus depot. DHS is a quick eight minute non-stop bus ride from FW. :)

This is a great idea... One that we might just have to try on our upcoming trip. Thank you very much for sharing!!

A quick question, I have a train tour booked for my son and brother in October. They need to be at MK by 7:15am at the latest. Best way to get their the boat, bus or should they use a taxi?

I would also like to know the answer to this question as my son is doing the train tour on June 1st. Gotta make sure we get him there on time!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!!

Elaw, Did room 6123 have a regular open balcony, or did it have thicker "wooden" slats instead of the metal spires that more or less block your view when sitting? Looking at a picture i see of that corner, it looked like it wasn't a dormer balcony, but also wasn't the regular easy to see through when sitting balcony either. I think I am waaaay over thinking this, especially since it seems out chances of getting one of the 2 or 3 rooms I am requesting are not that high:crazy: I requested 4123, 5123, or 6123 for open balcony inner courtyard view, but wondering about 6123 actually being open balcony. I hate to have to stand to see anything, IMO it nearly ruins the point of the balcony except for pictures and just quick trips out to enjoy the view. we don't hang out or eat on the balcony if we can't see while sitting, and it makes the room darker. I am wondering if I should add a second choice of open balcony upper floor south wing so we have a better unobstructed view of the EWP, or if I should just leave it as is so they don't just give us our second choice since it is easier (a few more room options). See what I mean, over thinking??

ETA We did book a deluxe room, which I mentioned in my original post but not here when I replied. Just to clarify.

6123, if I recall correctly, did have the thicker "wooden" slats instead of the metal spires. We thought the overall view was amazing so it didn't really bother us.

You will be fine taking the early ADR bus to MK. They start daily at 6:30 AM. I would make sure to be at the bus stop at least 30 minutes before I had to be at MK though, in case my timing was bad and I just missed one bus and had to wait for another. Once the bus arrives, it is only about a 5 minute trip.

I would love to be added to the list of lucky people staying at the Wilderness Lodge this year. My dates are Sept 19th through the 23rd.

Thanks!

Jodi

Hi all! Specific questions about the WL rooms -- is there a ceiling fan?

Also, if anyone reading this is currently at the Lodge, can you please let me know how much space there is under the tv in the entertainment console? Trying to figure out some storage options, and would love to know inches between bottom of TV and shelf.

Thank you!!

Thank you! Now I just have to make sure my DS gets up on time!

Hi Guys! This is a fantastic thread. Thank you so much for doing this! We will be at the Wilderness Lodge in June. We have a standard room reservation. Any tips on room requests? We love being close to Roaring Forks.

My first stay at WL will be in August! I've visited many times, and finally decided to give it a try! I have a standard view room booked. Will we be in the main building with the lobby? I really want to be in the main building!
Wilderness Lodge is just one building, everything is under one roof. You can call and request a room overlooking the lobby proper.

Enjoy your visit!

Thank you! I sent an email to my travel agent asking for a 4th floor or higher room overlooking the lobby area. Hopefully I can get my request! We are celebrating our 8th year anniversary!

Thanks! I always sleep better with a ceiling fan on! It's what I'm used to at home.

Anyone who has been there before, do you think shoebox-sized storage would fit under the TV?

We don't go for another four months, but I'm trying to figure out what area to request for the deluxe room. I'd like to be closer to the lounge, which makes me think we should request courtyard, but I know some of those don't have full balconies, right? I really want a full balcony. Even though it will be crazy hot in August, we do like to sit on the balcony at the end of the day. And my kids would love to see the EWP. So maybe I should request south wing. I think view and balcony type are more important than having to hoof it a bit further to get to the lounge. We've stayed CL at AKL where we had a good distance to travel before getting to the lounge and it didn't impact our stay at all.

Each Deluxe room has two balconies and one is a full-sized balcony. One balcony is off the living room and one is off the bedroom. The one that is off the bedroom is a Juliette-style and is very small. It can only accommodate about two people standing:

The one that is off the living room is a regular full-sized balcony:

None of the balcony railings are solid like some on the 6th floor and all of the 7th floor. However, the 5th floor Deluxe rooms at the end of the South and North Wings do have obstructed views due to the slats:

There are a total of 15 Deluxe rooms in the South Wing and 10 in the north wing. There aren't any underneath the VP Suite in the North Wing (above Roaring Fork), but there are 5 underneath the Pres. Suite in the South Wing.

This is a great thread.

We have been to the WL 9 times over the past 18 years (with a few stays in between at the Poly and POR) and we are bringing our daughter down in august to move down for the disney college program for the fall. Her dream started with her first stay at 16 months old on her first trip at the WL and of course she wants to stay there before she moves in. We are staying there for 3 nights before her move in day and she is aware we are. I want to surprise her with a club level stay as we've never done one and I know she would love it.

My question is we do not eat meat or shell fish. Do they ever put out any vegetarian hot dishes like a pasta? Or is it a fixed setting each night? I guess we could get by with the salads in the evening, and I know we would be going to dinner anyway, but I wondered if there was ever a chance to talk to a cm about vegetarian choices.

Thanks
Welcome to the thread! How exciting that your DD is entering the DCP! It's so sweet of you to treat her to a CL stay at WL. While there aren't any hot pasta dishes served, the only hot appetizer that might be meatless that I recall is the Shepherd's Pie, but even that might have some ground beef; most of the hot appetizers have some meat and/or fish. There are more cold vegetarian options than hot. There is usually only one hot appetizer each evening, sometimes two. POST 9 has the daily menus.

See my post above regarding Deluxe rooms.

I don't think I ever posted our dates...can we be added to the list please?!

Sept 15-25
Me, DH our 4 kiddos and my parents...we have two rooms between the 8 of us. Hoping for connecting rooms, but will be happy just being close by. Would love a view of the EWP too...we have a woods view. What should we request when the time comes to try and get connecting rooms with a view of the water pageant?
Welcome and I'd be happy to add your dates.

You would have to book a Courtyard View and request a "WL or INNER CYV" in order to have a view of the EWP. All of these CYV rooms have views of Bay Lake with the upper rooms having the best views.

My first stay at WL will be in August! I've visited many times, and finally decided to give it a try! I have a standard view room booked. Will we be in the main building with the lobby? I really want to be in the main building!

Congratulations on booking WL! The STD View rooms are "off the lobby" in the South and North wings so your door will open up to the lobby below.

I would love to be added to the list of lucky people staying at the Wilderness Lodge this year. My dates are Sept 19th through the 23rd.

Thanks!

Jodi
Welcome and I'll add you, Jodi:)

Welcome to the thread and thank you! Do you mean a Standard VIEW or a Standard Club Level room?

Thanks! I always sleep better with a ceiling fan on! It's what I'm used to at home.

Yes, that would fit. Even if your room doesn't have a fan, like the WL Deluxe rooms or some other rooms at other Deluxe Resorts, you can always request a box fan and housekeeping will bring one. We used one in the Deluxe room because their fans had been removed and replaced with a light.

So glad I found this thread, a wealth of information.
Staying in a Courtyard View August 2015 for 4 nights with DH, DS and DD. (I think I did that right. :D)
Previously stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter.
Looking forward to the boat ride to MK and the Electrical Water Pageant.
Thanks for putting together this great resource!
