hi. on some of the posts I hear people talking about how to get chosen to be a "rebel spy".
What exactly does that mean? they take a pic of you and then include your picture in the Star Tours video? if so, that is pretty cool.

I have heard that some of the tips to get chosen are to:
don't put on your 3D glasses at the beginning.
look straight ( don't turn your head to the side)
wear a star wars t-shirt
anything other tips?

Not sure if this helps, but my son who was 7 last time we went to DL, was picked two separate times as the rebel spy. He was wearing a Washington State University t-shirt. I thought maybe they picked him because he was from out of town. Just a guess. That, or they are an awesome Coug fan:)

No other tips, and yes your photo will be shown briefly on the screen at the beginning of the ride. I wish they would sell T shirts with the pictures on them. They would make a killing!

Our DD was the rebel spy once when she was 5. She was so excited! I don't know why they picked her though, perhaps being cute helps ;)

You can always tell the CM at the ride's door that it's some special day for you and ask them politely if maybe you could be the rebel spy. I've seen it work before.

don't put on your 3D glasses at the beginning.
look straight ( don't turn your head to the side)

Since the rebel spies that I've seen are always looking straight ahead without their glasses on, I think those are good ones.

I was chosen once. First time I was on the ride. I did not have the glasses on and I was looking straight ahead. I think I was also in the middle towards the front. It was cool.

My son has been the rebel spy several times.
He says go in, sit down right away, look straight ahead, and look sober.
Do not put on your glasses yet, not even on top of your head
Seems to work well for him!

WHAT?! I have LIVED on these boards for the better part of 6 months and this is the first I am hearing of this! I had no idea they did that. Maybe I can share these tips with my 3 sons and one of them might get chosen. How fun!!! :darth:

I love Star Tours. Last year we went to WDW and at the end of the night, it was a ghost town. We rode Star Tours 5 or 6 times in a row and the last 2 times we were by ourselves. DD was 9 and was the spy

Finally, I was chosen as the Rebel Spy in February so now myself and my 2 boys all have matching T shirts, and yes we will be sporting them this June when we all go together! I echo everyone's tips. My sister actually hinted that doing those things might help (this was last fall) and after I told the boys about it, they tried it and each of them was the rebel spy on our fall trip! I usually am lugging a backpack around and stowing it. When I finally got it I had only a tiny bag with me and just held onto it so I could be looking straight ahead that much sooner and it worked!

Thanks for the tips! I'm taking my sister on it for the first time soon and it would be great if she or my mom got chosen, since they wouldn't know what to expect. I might have to nudge them into sitting down quickly to increase their chances! I've been the spy once.

We went for years, and even when my daughter was young and cute she wasn't picked. So on our last trip I had her walk in before the rest of the group and sit down quickly (front row). I told her to look straight forward with a pleasant look on her face and to keep the 3-D glasses in her lap. Right before the CM came to check our belts she quickly buckled up. Lo and behold, for the first time in 5 years and 30+ rides, she was the Rebel Spy! :darth: There was a smile on her face for hours. Unfortunately, they no longer sell the "I was the Rebel Spy" pins, so I found her one on eBay.

I've managed to be the rebel spy 3 times out of 5, not sure what I do though! We have only ever been sat in the back row far right. I never put my glasses on till the ride starts

We went on the ride 3 times on our last trip and once my 8 year old was picked and once I was picked. I have no clue what we did or didn't do!
