Anyone else nervous about the PVB east pool construction?

Booked a PVB studio for Mid October since we weren't able to get into our home resort (BWV) or trade into another near park resort. Excited to stay at PVB (never stayed at Poly resort) but a little concerned about the extent of construction this fall-anyone else book AKL, SSR or OKW to avoid the pool construction?

I just didnt want to be near it so I booked lake view but other than that I am super excited to stay there! Its our first time there as well!

IMO staying at any resort still under construction isn't the best use of points. You are paying full point price for a possible less that magical experience.

Yup....I'm nervous about East Pool Construction. I'm going to try to get a room that is away from that area, or I may end up changing resorts. I'm not going until November, so I'm hoping that it won't be too bad. There's no way to tell until you get there. Here's hoping!

I hear you-we'd love to save the points and stay at PVB once everything is done BUT we were too late once we closed on our contract to get into our home resort (BWV) and with a 3 year old being at a resort close to the parks is a top priority for us We will have to take afternoon breaks-thinking dealing with buses (with lots of stops) to all parks and possibly long walks just to reach the main buildings/pool (won't have a car) at SSR or OKW would also be a less than magical experience ;)
Guess we will hope that the pool construction is going well and things aren't too bad by Oct (we plan to request to not be in Tokelau)-at least we will have a newly refurbished room :)

We had 2 Deluxe Studios booked for April but I was able to get a 2 bd at BLT. My husband has not stayed at either and I did not want his first Poly stay to have construction walls, etc.

Not nervous at all. My main concern was the Lava Pool and Trader Sams which will both be open. We are staying in a Lake View in July. While the East pool I'm sure will be heavy construction I will attempt to avoid the pool construction by accessing GCH and Lava pool by walking along the Lake and avoid the potential noise and fencing etc as much as possible. To be able to get Lake side which is a small % of units as a non-poly owner I thought it was worth taking a chance. I can fully understand how some people do not want to deal with that, especially if you are looking at current photos of the Lava Pool construction.

I have a question--so the standard view, PVB would have a view of the construction? Thanks. We are thinking end of August.

Possibly-there are 3 DVC studio longhouses 1 of the 3 borders the construction (Tokelau)-so if studios on the side of Tokelau that faces the east pool are open and used for bookings then yes you could have a view of construction. But even if you are in the other longhouses or the side of Tokelau that doesn't face east pool I imagine you may hear construction noise from balcony or if door is open.

Well....the Lava pool and hot tub are open now! It all looks really great! And yes....I still have some apprehension about the noise from the construction in the East Pool Area. I do like to relax in the pool....so we shall see how noisy it gets and decide if we will move our resort. Has anyone stayed at any resort with noisy construction.....and does the people noise drown out the heavy equipment noise? I mean....the resorts themselves can be quite noisy.

I am booked in a standard view for the first week in October. Last night I finally realized how likely of a chance I have of facing construction and am trying to move my reservation. While I am anxious to stay there, I think I will wait until everything has quieted down. I have sensitive hearing and the back-up beeps on heavy equipment put my teeth on edge. Unfortunately, at this point nothing is available except at SSR. First World, problems, huh? :crazy2:

Wait, friends, wait. I stayed during grand opening week. The construction IS significant. If you are worried about it then I would wait. The walk to the DVC area takes you past a lot of the construction areas. If you even think that is might bother you....it probably is going to. I didn't think it was going to bother me much and it really, really did.

Makes sense, but having never stayed at the Poly before and with no availability at BLT or VGF I'm fine with booking the lake view for Oct.

Normally I'd go for the cheaper standard view rooms, but did not want to be facing the construction on the quiet pool.

My plan is to test the waters. If it is bad....I will move. That's all I got. I'm hoping that the place will be lovely enough that it isn't a big deal. So.....we shall see. As we get closer, folks in October can testify! Halleluja! I don't need it to be perfect....just wonderful!

I think anytime you knowingly walk into the middle of a construction zone, you're assuming a risk. Even if I had just bought PVB points, 50 years is a long time to be able to use them at Poly. I'd stay elsewhere until the visible construction work is complete.

The frequent closing of the main pool has me more concerned than the east pool construction.

The way I see it, there is always some kind of construction somewhere and I don't stop my life for it. I intend to have a great stay at the Poly in November.

Have the completed construction on the 3rd DVC building?

I thought that only 40% of the total availability has been declared, is that 40% of the units including bungalows.

How does DVD's amending it's sales license and increasing the number of units change things?

There's usually SOMETHING going on at Walt Disney World but rarely does the construction hit a close to Home (pun intended) as what's happening at the Poly. Construction walls and earth-moving equipment in the middle of a resort is pretty rare.

But the key would seem to be approaching the situation with a reasonable outlook. A fair number of people seemed to expect perfection on April 1. That simply was not realistic.

No.

40% of the final resort build-out (360 studios and 20 bungalows) has been declared.

How does DVD's amending it's sales license and increasing the number of units change things?

Doubt that it does in any way that's meaningful to guests. Just a legal necessity to eventually sell all of the units it's always intended to build.
