Here now and was bumped out of BW View

Apparently they have taken some rooms out of inventory due to remodel and we were bumped to garden view. I am/was VERY upset. The only reason we were staying here was because of BW view. They offered us free dining for our stay. To be honest free dining is great but I would rather have the view. We didn't make any dining reservations this trip because we didn't want to worry about that.

I don't care for garden view - would rather look at the parking lot!

Not acceptable and another case of poor customer service. A broken pipe would be a different issue but a scheduled refurb should not cause you to lose your reserved category of room.

Thanks Bill I will do that when we get home. I'm very disappointed. They offered to move us to another DVC but of course nothing is available. The free dining will be nice if we can use it. I hope the stomach bug doesn't get all of us.

That stinks. Going down next week and book BWV too for the same reason. Wouldn't have booked pool view for those pts.

Ooohhh, I'd rather have the free DP. We got upgraded from regular DP to deluxe DP at BWV once...was nice and quite fun making last minute ADRs at signature places. But you, with DS's stomach flu, may not be all that into dining at the moment. Hope he feels better and you guys have a nice trip!!!

I'm gonna tell you what... I'd make them refund points back to at LEAST the least (Standard View?) number of points that room size would have been for the time period.

Not to start a firestorm, but something like this happened to me once at AKL and they "comped" me VERY satisfactorily. I didn't have to beg for it or be ugly to get it either. I even tried nicely to decline and they insisted. Sounds like your treatment wasn't anything like that.

Bob...getting free dining is a pretty significant comp, don't you think? Honestly, that would be more valuable to me than the return of some points.

While I can see both sides, I think it's unreasonable for a guest to find out on arrival for such a situation. The Free Dining is a pretty good compensation (really too much for most such situations) and likely more than the points between BWV BW view and other comparable options.

The second reason is this. It's starting to be spring break and my bet is everything that's even near decent is booked up. If I could cancel this whole thing out betting on the come that most of the "free dining" comp was going to be counter service anyway, it's not a bad comp for the house after all. Just sayin'...

When we checked out this Tuesday they were getting ready to close down the Crest of the Wave section of second floor, which is P/G view on one side and BW view on the other. I was told by one of the workers that they are behind schedule, but I don't know if that is true or not. If is is true then I would imagine that there will continue to be problems with people not getting the rooms they had booked.

IMO, anything more than the value of BWV vs standard would be too much compensation for this situation. Certainly the end value would be variable depending on several factors but even just getting the quick service plan would be more than reasonable IMO. Certainly anyone who place little or no value on the DP would have said no and asked for something else instead.

I love the boardwalk view but booked garden view for a trip with date changes. Although I missed the boardwalk view, I didn't think the pool view I got was bad. I would have been happy with free dining, even if you are only using quick service. You have to eat somewhere, unless you planned to go offsite.
