2015 Make-the-Most-of-it March WISH challenge! All are welcome!

Hey--I think everybody's busy spring cleaning. I know I've been doing a lot of that. Was doing good earlier in the week, down a pound but I made up for that over the last few days. Won't go into details but st. patrick's day, cinnabon and 5 guys burgers and fries were involved. Oh well-- gotta live...
Got rid of my pc in the kitchen over the weekend and the stand for it. Re- organized the space and put a big floor to ceiling utility shelf in the kitchen to put all my cooking gear like rice cooker, crockpot stuff I don't use every day but do use. I even found a spot on it to plug in my toaster oven--I am so thrilled with this. Also the area around the pc was grody because Dorothy's living there so lot's of scrubbing. It is so nice to have that area **** and span--and her spot is gone so no more her on the counter.I have relocated the old girl to our spare bedroom and she loves it and hasn't made any messes since she's been in there. I did find a litterbox that was even lower to the ground than the last one I found-- maybe that's what is helping. (Hallelujah) We leave the door open and she just stays in there.
St. Patrick's day I asked for off so my Mom and I had some fun-- we went to see Cinderella then had lunch at an Irish pub in town that was having it's first st patty's day celebration and I went back later to hear our local pipers--they're scottish but really good and hey-- everyone's Irish on St. Patty's right? It was kind of a bummer though because we go up to Kells in Portland some years and I should have gone this year--it is Huge and fun but husband put off taxes so he wanted to get them done. If I'd been smart I would have just gone up there by myself and scooted down to our capitol the next day because I needed to be there for lobby day with our union. That was kind of awesome--we went around in small groups to talk to senators and congressmen about upcoming bills like first day sick pay for the whole state, unionizing the marijuana industry, (it's legal come July) $15 minimum wage (in it's very early stages) etc. I got a ride from a local rep and kind of had an epic fail when we got back to town- I forgot my book in his car so called him and he was looking for somewhere to eat and there was a 5 guys really close to his hotel so I ended up eating with him there. I was hungry and had some running around to do after that and I just thought he'd like some company--they're alone a lot on the road. Saved 1/2 my fries anyway. Good lord though--700 something calories for a cheeseburger. It was good but I realized something after-- I'd rather have a burger I made any day. Haven't worked out much, need to get back on the ball today. Thinks I'll ride my bike to work today as well because it looks like rain the rest of the week.
Really ahve to run-- I hope I don't kill the thread again!

Good morning everyone! You made it to FRIDAY!!'
Welcome to our FUN FRIDAY QOTD!!

Fun-Friday-copy.jpg

If you could win a FREE LIFETIME FASTPASS, good for any ONE Disney ride/show/attraction, which one would you pick?

Remember, it is FRIDAY, so that is weigh-in day. Remember to send me your percentage lost toward your monthly goal! ............P

Oooh, only one??? Hm... I haven't been to Disney in a long time, so that's a hard one. One ride I really like is the Indiana Jones ride in DL. No idea if I'd even need a FP for that one, but I remember really loving it.

We have a church event tonight, where I'm going to have to be REALLY careful not to overeat. Going to the gym this afternoon, which should help, but we'll see. Here's hoping I can resist temptation! I made a lemon yogurt cake, so that's probably not going to help...

Hey all! I came on this morning and discovered no one had been here since Friday afternoon, so I opted to skip this morning's SUPER SUNDAY post. Things have gotten painfully quiet here and I am wondering if I have been leading us in the wrong direction. If anyone has anything that they would LIKE to talk about or any QOTD that they would like me to post or if you have any other suggestions, PLEASE let me know!!

I did get four weigh-ins on Friday (WOOHOO and congrats to our LOSERS!!) so I plan to update the results tonight or tomorrow, so you still have time to get me YOUR results!

I'll pop on again after dinner to see if we have had any visitors!.................P

Duh, Star Tours, obviously :p

Great weigh in tonight, now to see if I can maintain that thru the end of the month (went past my goal and lost 5)

Woot! Congrats Admiral!

I don't think it's anything you have done... These things sometimes go in waves. I was super busy a few weeks ago and was almost totally absent from the boards. And I bet a lot of people's kids are on spring break right now. :)

Here we are, another MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!

I LOVE this quote because it makes me think of weight loss in a more POSITIVE way. Rather than trying to think of losing weight as a PROBLEM to be solved, think of hitting your goal weight as a DREAM that you can ACHIEVE! Put a more positive spin on it and maybe it will change the way you think about giving up that cupcake (or pie or soda or chips). Every time you make a healthier, lighter choice with your foods and every time you tie up your sneakers for a workout, you are closer and closer to achieving your DREAM of a life lived at your goal weight!

losingweightishard.jpg

This is another quote that has always really spoken to me. People talk about how hard it is to give up xxxxx or to exercise or to make other healthy lifestyle changes..... but then you see them struggling to climb a flight of stairs without getting winded or find a cute outfit in their size or just accomplish basic life tasks carrying 50, 100, 125 extra pounds around and obviously life is HARD being overweight (been there, done that, btw). It is just a matter of which "hard" you are willing to put up with in your life!

So there you go.... my motivation for today. Do you have any motivation to share? Do you need motivation to keep going? Is something in particular giving you difficulties? Having a struggle in an area of life? Let us know! We'd love to offer suggestions, ideas, and support
!....................P

Thanks.... you're probably right. My DD's spring break was kind of early, so I've sort of put it out of my head.

Morning all! I'm here at work today, but I have computer access off and on (since I am the computer teacher today!). I'll give it until mid-morning to make sure that everyone has had a chance to get their weight loss totals into me and then I will update page one.

I had a run-in with a spoonful of cookie dough last night. I had actually forgotten it was in the fridge until DS reminded me. But I managed to keep the indulgence to just one large spoonful.... which is quite a feat for me! Yesterday was my treat day anyhow, so I just skipped the chocolate muffin I had planned to eat.

Off to double check today's schedule.... but I don't think I have students for another hour! ..........P

dona -- sounds like you had a fun st pattys day, and you've been productive too! I will admit a 5 guys burger does sound good...but it's good that your homemade burger is what you crave now .

I'm having a ton of issues typing right now, i'll have to pop back in later

Pamela -- I think you are a FANTASTIC coach and I'm nervous to follow in april

Thanks for your kind words.... they are needed and appreciated! And you will do GREAT in April! I'm looking foward to it!

Hey all.... page one is UPDATED!! Sorry I didn't do it as soon as I got home, but of course I came home to no internet. Life just hasn't let up on us regarding repairs.... DH's car went back into the shop about a week ago and the day it was ready we swapped it out for the kids' car, since we got an airbag warning light and the seatbelt buckle stopped working. It is NEVER ENDING with the repairs lately. But I've told DH I am DONE paying for repairs on his car and if it has an issue again he needs to seriously think about replacing it. It doesn't have high miles, but it keeps having this same problem over and over and over and over!

Dinner was DELICIOUS here! Tacos for the men, taco salad for me.... something we haven't had in a long time. Yuuuummmmm! I have missed having salads more often, but this is still soup weather around here.... especially with windchills into the teens and single numbers! Recess duty was pretty cold today! Glad I was bundled up!

Found a new recipe blog that I am absolutely LOVING! Actually found a link over on the Budget Board and checked it out. The woman is mostly about eating on a budget, but she has some really yummy HEALTHY sounding recipes! I cannot WAIT to try a few! Budgetbytes.com if you want to check it out!........................P

Wowza.... the Spam Monkeys are busy today! Looks like every single board got hit with the same garbage! I reported it, as I am sure many others did.... just kills me to see such junk on the boards that I love!

Off to work today (doubles day, school in the day, WW at night), but I'll get our Tuesday post going before the day gets away from me!................P

Hey all!! It's not TACO TUESDAY or Cuppa-Tea Tuesday or TERRIBLE TUESDAY or even TANTALIZING TUESDAY.... so welcome to.....TASTY TUESDAY!!

We've all been there.... nothing in the fridge looks appealing.... or we are in a hurry and have no time to cook anything.... or there is more MONTH left at the end of our MONEY and we need to make something good with what's in the pantry and/or freezer?

What do you make that is quick, easy, cheap, and HEALTHY when one of those events (or more than one) occurs in your life? Not looking for legit RECIPES so much as ideas and suggestions.

I'll go first to get the ball rolling in the right direction.......

Mexican pizza..... I toast a pita pocket or whole grain bread or low carb tortilla, top it with a shmear of fat-free refried beans (canned or homemade) and then .... and whatever veggies are available (leftovers that are well drained/patted dry, onions, peppers, broccoli.... you name it, top with cheese (whatever you've got handy.... WW string cheese, lowfat shredded cheese, sliced cheese, goat cheese) . Broil until the cheese is melted. Serve with a side of salsa if you've got it available. Yummy, quick, easy, and cheap!

"Garbage soup"..... tasier than it sounds.... warm some broth/stock in a pot (vegetable. chicken, beef or even a bottle of tomato or V-8 juice).... add whatever veggies you have on hand.... leftover cooked or fresh or frozen,(add the fresh first and let it cook before adding the previously cooked so they don't get soggy). For protein you can add bits of meat leftovers (the remainder of a rotisserie chicken, the "not enough for another meal but too much to throw away" taco meat.... just try to keep like flavors together [ poultry with poultry, beef with beef]) and/or add a can of beans or 1/2 C of quinoa. Let it cook through, add salt/pepper/garlic powder, etc to taste. Tada.... SOUP!

BBL to chat!.......P

tasty tuesday -- i'm loving the mexican pizza idea! sounds like you are very creative with soup too, i should try that...my DH loves soup but i tend to just repeat the same recipes

when my frig is slim, I tend to make salads and get creative with toppings....berries, hard boiled eggs, different cheeses, nuts. recreate Panera type salads. Or I will make breakfast for dinner...eggs, toast. I'm not as creative :teeth:

i have not weighed myself again this month, think i'll just do a WI this weekend for end of the month since i've been unreliable all month. very up and down since vaca...it's always a struggle to get back in full swing. which is why I signed up to coach next month, a committment to be present in my desire to stick to it! two months until DD graduation and swim suit season

Good morning and I am pleased to present.......

What's up Wednesday!!

Things have been SO super quiet here, I figure you have all been up to many exciting (and some boring) things! So share with us... what's up!!?? Let us know about any struggles that we can help with, any victories we can celebrate with you, any challenges you are facing or have faced down recently! These can all be weight loss or exercise or just LIFE related! Been busy with a work project..... How's it going? Kids driving you nuts? Feel free to vent! Something have you down? Get it off your chest!

I'm at work again today, but should have time to pop on a little later.....................P

Unfortunately, a lot of my go-tos tend to be high carb, like pasta. But one thing that I LOVE is frozen mixed veggies. They are an instant side to just about anything, and when I was pregnant with DD, they were about all I could eat for 6 weeks! Sandwiches are another staple when I don't have money/time for anything else. You can get really creative with sandwiches. :)

Oops, I missed this in my above post!

It's been a rough week here. My DDprincess: must not be feeling 100% (though you'd never know it by looking at her), because she's been a pokey eater for days, and had two poopy accidents yesterday (she is potty trained). I'm at my wit's end...

To add to that, my brakes were less than normally responsive, so I took my car in yesterday to have it checked. The "power" part of my power brakes is out, and it's a $750 fix minimum. Yay. Going to see if my sister's boyfriend can do it, but it depends on if most of the cost is parts or labor. :(

Also, my Disney planning for November is on hold until 2 things: 1 - we are hoping for the free dining promotion. That won't be released for over a month, historically. 2 - My parents don't know if they will be able to come or not. It's a long story, but they can't give me an answer right now and don't know when they will be able to. :headache:

On the plus side, I'm on week 4 of my C25K training plan, and while I can't quite do the whole set of intervals, I am now able to run for 5 min straight! (at least once... I have to split up the second 5 min interval) I think I'm going to have to repeat this week until I can run the full sections I am supposed to be, but it's encouraging! :yay:

it's spring break here...house more or less to myself and I'm not feeling well this week. sigh. Addisons flare up is best way to describe it, I'm loading some extra steroids, but not sleeping great and eating too much. that pretty much sums it up. I'm procrastinating being 100% b/c I'm coach next month and so then I'll have to be more committed. yes, this is the sham of a story I'm giving myself, pathetic huh

pixiegirl - so sorry about your car troubles. feels like throwing money out the window to fix cars! but great job on your progress for your C25K

ok, I need to be cleaning my house, our life group meets here tonight

Update: Sister's boyfriend said he can do it for $350 with a used part! Thank God. I was thinking "there goes my Disney fund". :earsgirl:

Sandwiches.... dress 'em up, dress 'em down.... so versatile! Frozen veggies are a great thing to have on hand all the time!

Sorry about the car issues.... I can CERTAINLY sympathize with all our car issues lately.... but delighted to hear that you found a less expensive "fix" for the problem and saved the Disney fun!!

Have fun with your group tonight. Sorry you've been less than tip-top.... hopefully the extra steroids will help, but a good night's sleep would go a long way as well. Hope it is in the cards for you tonight!

Hey all! Home from work and managed a walk OUTSIDE tonight! Not too long and I definitely needed the gloves I wore, but managed to not freeze in a hoodie and sweat pants, so that is progress!

Dinner will be done in 5 minutes (beef and broccoli stir-fry and brown rice) and I am hungry! Not sure when DH will be home, so DS and I will go ahead and eat without him.... you snooze, you lose!:rotfl:

TTY tomorrow...................P
