What's the reason that Hollywood Studios is changing name for 2nd time?

The math in your supporting link does not get your 60% suggestion. Thus proving my point.
Dude are you serious? you want to argue semantics? The major point is Hollywood isn't top dog anymore. But troll on.

I doesn't matter if Hollywood is "top dog" in the film industry any more. There's still the perception that it is. When people think entertainment, they think "Hollywood".

Remember the park is a representation of Hollywood as it never was and always will be.

I think to the older crowd, yes you are correct. Not so sure for the younger crowd. I don't think kids these days have that same connection to Hollywood we did. You don't even see people acknowledge Hollywood anymore, it's Los Angeles. Look I'm not saying we should call it "some other town" studios, I'm just saying the Hollywood connection to films is dwindling, and for upcoming generations, it won't make much sense because they haven't experienced that era.

And 75% of statistics on the Internet are made up on the spot.

It's not a statistic.. I see film crews everyday. Check the locales of filming of films the last 10 years. Over half is in Louisiana because it's cheaper to film here.

Hate to say it, but agree with SpaceDog. Your article says that 18 of 108 movies were shot "Substanially" in Louisiana. That 16.7 %. And "Major Movies" are only a fraction of what is being produced in Hollywood. Television production exceedingly outstrips film production in terms of quantity by probably 20:1 (Hey look - Another made-up fact!). You are also quoting an article being presented by Louisiana itself, which is of course going to pump Louisiana up.

I mean, good for Louisiana and all, but there's not denying that the majority of production work and the majority of central locations of producers/executives and stars are in California. if Disney REALLY wanted to push production in Florida they could, and at one point they did. The fact is they did it for a while, and then changed their minds. Whether it was from expense or from lack of stars, or from humidity rotting the equipment who knows. In the end, its NOT a production studio.

The publication quoted is the number 1 circulated Newspaper in the area, it's not a propaganda site. In fact, They are currently building a 40 acre studio in New Orleans East, from an old distribution center. And while they were doing the ribbon cutting ceremony in one of the vacant warehouses, guess what they were filming on the other side of that warehouse? a Disney TV show. And as I said in my previous post, you don't hear them saying filmed in Hollywood anymore, they say filmed in Los Angeles. Like it or not folks Hollywood is going way of the Dinosaur. I'm not happy about it, I dreamed of being in Hollywood in it's prime. But things change. More and more film projects are being outsourced to other states. It's not a central thing anymore and future generations won't even know the difference.

I think they are going to call it Disney Studio Adventures. Getting rid of the Hollywood would give them the permission to remove as much "Hollywood" stuff as possible, but keeping Studio also allows them to retain as much movie (and in turn Hollywood) stuff as possible.

This is all I was trying to say before I had to get into a semantics war a la Disboards.

They could surprise everyone and take out the Disney portion:P

I'm Really curious about the park icon myself. Tower of terror? Chinese theater? Earful tower? Starbucks logo?

Facts and figures are not semantics. They are important and it's important to represent them honestly and truthfully.

In truth, there is a world of diversity in terms of film production and location, but Hollywood remains the capital of the industry in the USA and that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.

Me too. Earful Tower was the original icon but it never seemed like a great park icon to me. The Chinese Theater is in the traditional spot in the park for a park icon but that never seemed like a very good one either. I actually thought the hat was a good icon but didn't mind seeing it go since it was an afterthought really.

Wait... Are we now talking semantics about semantics?

Actually if you see the link of the study that was done, California as a whole is having it's grip on this very thing slip. The downward climb is an increasing one and steady. It's still going to be the playground to the rich and famous, but they'll be working elsewhere.

And just for the sake of bias.. Here's the official report. Posted from a non Louisiana affiliated site:

That's really interesting! This reminds me of when all the companies started shipping jobs overseas. All the other countries got the sweatshop labor conditions, while the old companies had the shiny new headquarters. It's the same thing here! Do you think Disney, Universal, Sony, or 20th Century is going to move? No. So all the lucrative corporate jobs stay put. All the low paying jobs get exported. Makes sense.
