If I show my Membership card, will that grant me access to TOTW lounge to watch Wishes? And, when is the best time to arrive to avoid being turned away due to capacity issues?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mickeydad:thanks:

I've done this a few times. Go to the desk at BLT and show your DVC card. They will escort you to the TOTWL as there is an elevator specifically for it that they must activate to go to the top floor.
I've always arrived at least an hour before wishes. Everyone pretty much hangs out in the lounge until about 10 min before then they go outside.
Have fun. It's pretty cool to watch from up there.

You will need a magic band showing you are staying on property as well as something showing your membership (which is normally also available for them to see on the band by my understanding although I did show my membership card last time I went up but that was over a year ago. If you want to see wishes only and not get a drink or anything you want to be ready to go up by 15-20 minutes ahead of time. I haven't heard of people being turned away although the 4 nights it would be most likely you have to be staying at BLT to go up.

Access rules as posted on DVCMember.com:
Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort through December 29, 2015 (blockout dates apply, including but not limited to December 30, 2014, December 31, 2014, July 3, 2015 and July 4, 2015). Current operating hours are 6 p.m. to midnight.

This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current MagicBand or Key to the World card with a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck. If the Member's MagicBand or Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is also required to verify Membership.

Note that Members traveling from other Resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation, as parking is unavailable to anyone not staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

This special Top of the World Lounge access is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

No guests unless they are staying with you on your membership...the very light line at the bottom of the previous quote.

Quick question-it says staying on the member's reservation-what if a member booked two rooms for the same travel dates and therefore have separate reservation #s? We have booked 2 studios in May (one cash with our member discount and one with points)-can my in laws join us at BLT? We (DVC memebers) booked and paid for their reservation but are staying in a 2nd studio using our points-are they not able to join us because they have a diff reservation #? Or is ok because I booked them both with my membership and have the reservations noted as traveling together?

Yes they can go to BLT with you as they are staying on your membership while you are at WDW at the same time.

Thanks for the information...we are planning to go up there for this 1st time on our upcoming trip! Getting excited!

Thanks-that's what I thought but then when someone posted that info from the member site and it said same RESERVATION I thought maybe I was wrong.

Last time we went up to watch, they just checked that one of us was a DVC member. Our friends (who were staying on our reservation) were never asked anything.

One thing that is important to note - If you are taking kids up to watch the fireworks, the walls are very tall. I'd guess about 4 1/2 feet. Our tall 9 year old could see, but we had to hold the 8yr old and 6 yr old.

Quick question - sort of on a related note...

If I use my DVC Membership to book a reservation for a friend but I'm not actually on the trip with them, would my friend be able to get access to TOTW Lounge since they are staying on a DVC member's points? Or is it a situation where a DVC member must be present?

The member must be present and show their membership card.

Don't forget you must use Disney transportation to get to BLT. You cannot drive your own vehicle and park there. You could park at TTC and take the monorail around though.

If we have the kids with us, we usually go up about 15 minutes before the fireworks. We have never had an issue with capacity, the balcony is huge!

Are you able to get into TOTWL on the night of check-out day of a qualifying stay?

There is nothing on your band to show that you are a DVC member. You need to show your DVC card. The only thing that the band will show is that you are staying onsite at a DVC resort, but someone could be renting or borrowing your points and they would NOT be eligible because they don't have a membership card.
