Thanks for everyone's help! I am very excited. Is anyone else hoping to get free dining? We are oct/nov so good chance. Trying to decide if I will pay whole bill now or wait until it might be offered. WDW prep school suggests not paying until after because it's a new reservation and moving the money can be annoying

We paid in full last year when we booked and then when free dining was released, we just called and applied the new discount. Our visa was refunded within a day or two, no hassle at all. We would love to get free dining if it is offered, but we have a room only bounceback offer booked now that will be just fine if free dining isn't an option.

Has anyone experienced the "go straight to your room" check-in procedure? From what I understand, if you have recieved your magic bands in the mail and paid in full for you room, you can get a text and bypass the check-in counter to go straight to our room. I would love to hear some feed back from someone who has done it.
My experience with the new bypass check in was at POR on 2/19. I said I would be checking in at 8:00 -8:30 am. Around that time, I received an email stating my room was "not quite ready." About a hour later I stopped at the front desk to ask. Still not ready, we stashed our bags with bell services and headed out. Around noon, I received an email giving me my building number, room number and floor. Upon returning to the resort, I went directly to the room. It worked slick, but I paid in full and had a credit card on file. Disney also, emails you a receipt, so you don't have to go to the front desk for check out. I did this, too. Just left the room. I never received any text updates, just email.

Our trip is Oct 25th to Nov 1st. Hoping for free dining... will be adding one additional night on 10/24 when we know about discounts... we aren't picky about location of room, our requests are king size bed as its our honeymoon (and double beds would kinda spoil that) and close to pool. Good luck to everybody and what they want!!

Hi guys we will be staying at Pop Century from 10/14-10/19 and we are really looking forward to it...well, DH and I are...the kids won't know about our trip until we leave for the airport....well that is the plan for now at least, we'll see how long I can hold out on not blabbing :rotfl:. This will be our first stay here, it is actually our first stay in any of the Value resorts and I am really excited to be trying out a new resort. Not sure which section we would like to request (I know requests are just requests) but I do know DH would like to be as close to the main building as possible, but since we are booked in a standard view, not sure how close we will get. All I know is that the resort looks awesome, I just love all of the fun details that lets me go down memory lane :goodvibes.

Thank you for the help, I will definitely be calling today and request closest to Hippy Dippy Pool :goodvibes

Do the rooms still have the old hair dryers or have they all been replaced? I read somewhere they were suppose to update to new ones; not sure if that was truth or rumor lol

Just wanted to say thanks here for all the tips and help posted. Our first trip was a great success! I'll be posting a larger report in the trip report thread and posted a small "Just Back" post in the Strategies board. We liked our stay at POP for the price. It was a big resort an we were in rooms 7131 and 7130. These were connecting rooms. We cut through the parking lot to get to the buses which helped. I brought a small coffee maker for the room which worked great for us. The food court was busy and took some getting used to, but each meal we had there was excellent. Good customer services. Buses were average I guess; sometimes we were lucky and other times we waited. Seemed like AoA had more buses but that is a big resort too. For as much time as we spent in the parks, I would not have justified paying more for our room. It was always clean, comfortable, and restocked each day as needed. Nothing bad to say about it at all, other than the size, and that the POP bus stops are often the farthest from the park gate, hard at the end of the day when you're tired! But we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the fact that there were no additional bus stops.

Planning our next trip. Kind of split if we want to do POP again or try a moderate. I do think POP will win out, we absolutely loved our stay there in fall 2013. My kids loved it, especially my daughter who loved all the activities and doing the hustle. Hoping to hit FD, and might wait to make the actual reservations when those dates are released as we can be flexible with our dates. Just excited that I can officially start obsessing again!

Congratulations!

Your online check-in is complete. Your reservation has Streamlined Check-in, just show your ID at the designated location in the resort lobby. Look for the logo. If your room is not ready upon your arrival, we will send you a notification to xxxxxxxxxx as soon as your room is ready.

does this mean I still have to go to the front desk?

I called in and requested to be close to the Hippy Dippy pool and then checked in online. adding no requests.

On our last trip at Pop Century, on the day of departure, I was very pleasantly surprised to find our American Airlines boarding passes hanging on our hotel room door. We used to have to go to the airline check-in section and check in, get the boarding passes printed, etc, but in September they were just magically hanging on our door.

Does anyone know if this the norm now?

Our last 2 trips we've had that. Not sure when it started. :thumbsup2

We've been flying to Disney on SW since 2012, and our boarding passes have always been hanging on our door the night before departure, no matter which Disney resort we've stayed at. :goodvibes
