I booked a water view room since it was the only category left and I normally don't pay for view but decided it was worth the extra but my first room, 1521 had this view - http://i.imgur.com/mnj7VDo.jpg

Didn't want to stare at a towel box for the entire week so we went back to the front desk and got changed to a room on the 4th floor with this view - http://i.imgur.com/hDFoqW6.jpg

I normally don't complain about views but damn, look at the difference between the views! You could see a little of the pool and maybe lagoon if you squinted but yech, they really shouldn't sell the first room as a water view if they don't move the box.
What a great view you ended up with!

By the time we arrive for our 4/29 - 5/3 stay at BC, it seems they'll be close to refurbing two (non-club) floors. When I booked, I added "newly renovated room" as a room request. Is that the best way to do it if I want a newly refurb'd room?

Thanks for the advice on the water parks / SAB dilemma we were having. I took Disney before Sally's advice and we had a family vote. It was 4-1...guess who the "1" was? Last trip we did Blizzard Beach and the kids really want to experience Typhoon Lagoon (thanks Crushin Gusher...or whatever it's called...waterslide coaster). It was only $25 to add on the option so looks like we'll squeeze some Miniature Golf in and possibly DisneyQuest if we get a really rainy day...but I'd like to avoid DTD this trip since I heard it's a mess with the Disney Springs construction...but I know I will get talked into going down there at least for an ice cream at Ghirardelli...which isn't a bad thing! I grew up near San Francisco and a trip to the "city" was never complete unless we stopped at the Ghirardelli soda fountain!

BTW...I've played all the Mini Golf courses and we prefer the Fantasia Gardens course...plus it's walking distance from BC!!

I would love to skip DTD our next trip, but I suspect I'll give in to the begging. I don't mind going, it's just the busses are so bad getting there and if we take a cab, we have to get one with a car seat since my youngest will be with me. The community car seat sort of squicks me out. We tried to do the mini golf last August, but it was so brutally hot and the whole course looked to be in the sun. Some day. I love mini golf.

That's a water view? That's just sad.

Just got done watching Big Hero 6 for the first time. "Are you satisfied with your care?" Oh, my heart. My oldest daughter was watching me just to see if I'd cry.

Thank you so much!!! This is great info and I will add a link to the review section (BCV studio vs. standard resort room)

I forgot about the balconies. D'OH!!!

Most of the resort rooms have 2 Queen beds. A few have a single King Bed and possibly a daybed or sleeper chair. Some rooms have daybeds, not sure how many.

The coffee maker in the studio is a 4 cup Mr. Coffee (filter) type machine. The ones in the resort rooms are Cuisinart "Pod" machines (not filter, not Kuerig)

:thumbsup2

Does any one know the space comparison/size for the villas vs. resort room?

I could look it up, I suppose, but I am off to the high school library in a few minutes for my volunteer shift.

Dee the coffee pots in the studios are regular pots. I forget if they are 10 or 12 cups. Definitely larger than four cups. They use regular basket filters.

Hi NM
I think the question was about the resort specific "newspapers" they used to publish weekly and give to guests at checkin - not the USA Today. I have some copies of these from trips long ago, but I haven't seen one in quite a while.

Hi Hopefully :wave2:
Ohhhhhhh! I feel like Emily Litella from that TV show Saturday Night Live.

Your complaint was warranted, there is no way that room should be qualified for water view.

Totally...that should be classified as a "towel box" view and should be 75% of the price of a standard view room! Glad you got switched out!

Good morning!
Just a quick question here, I saw some pictures of the beautiful new rooms at BC on trip advisor. It seems as if the new curtains don't block out a lot of light. One thing I love on vacation is a very dark room. Can anyone who has stayed in a renovated room speak to this? It's not a dealbreaker, But I would be disappointed.

True - the former room darkening draw draperies were replaced with not very good quality Roman-fold shades, which were mounted too far away from the glass with not enough overlap past the windows.

I posted some pics in this thread from my January visit, showing the gaps.

When I have more time, I will try to find pic/post.

There was a real problem keeping out the bright lights from outside my room, which faced the Quiet Pool.

Thanks! I will be sure to bring my sleep mask. I can't sleep unless it is totally dark in the room. Guess it comes from growing up where there were no street lights!

Am I not following another thread where recent room pics are posted? I assumed they would be posted here, and I have seen some.

I have two posts on http://www.disboards.com/threads/20...iends-fun-sept-2014-feb-2015.3326031/page-145, with photos attached of a refurbed room on the 4th floor of the BC.

Judging from other photos on Page 1, it appears as though rooms with sliding patio doors still have room darkening draperies with sheers. Perhaps only the rooms with small windows/hinged doors have the Roman-fold shades with light leakage issues.

What would be the best way to get to from YC to MK for early morning ADR? We are renting a car and have parked at GF valet in the past for a few hours, but can we leave the car there all day? TIA.

If you park valet, yes I believe you can leave the car all day. If your ADR is in MK, parking at CR may be even better because you can walk to MK.

Can't believe they tried to pawn that off as a water view!! Just wrong. Way better second room! We had a room on the opposite side of that courtyard toward BW.

If you are going to an early breakfast at Crystal Palace, then the bus is probably the best way to go. It will take you directly to the MK gates. If you are driving, unless you park at one of the resorts (not sure what the valet rules or if a time limit applies), you would have to park at the TTC and take either the monorail or ferry from the TTC to the MK entrance.

If you are concerned with a morning bus not being there in time, you could take a taxi to the Contemporary resort and walk from there. That would take less than 30 minutes, so if there was no bus arriving in time to get you there this could be a backup.
