DIS Unplugged Show Feedback and Suggestions

Okay, I don't think I saw this suggestion but please excuse me if I missed it!

What if we could do a semi-regular set of polls where the viewers get to vote on selections of attendees and experiences that a team member(s) could be sent to check out. This way we could pick a person and an event (the team controls the choices to account for schedules and stuff).

The viewers feel engaged and maybe it will get a team member out to do something that they might not have considered people were interested in.

Thanks for all you do!

I know its not your actual job, but do you find that one feeds the other? It would seem that the Podcast is a great marketing arm for your actual job and Dreams Unlimited...with a built in audience for purchasing trips (ABD and others), referrals, etc... I know that I only used Dreams Unlimited due to my "relationship" from the podcast.

It absolutely does increase the visibility of the travel agency. The double edged sword is that increasing the visibility also increases the amount of time necessary to handle business...which decreases the amount of time available for other things....like the Podcast and all of it's activities.

Please know that I am not complaining. I have an awesome job and I am the luckiest guy in the world. I was just pointing out that the Podcast is just a part of what I do and not my entire job.

Sometimes, it's a time tight rope and some thing has to give.

Well, if you are overworked, there is this guy in Massachusetts who could help out.

Unfortunately he loves snow and could only be in Florida part of the year. I am learning how to cook Chicken Vesuvio as I type this...

Yeah...law of diminishing returns. I would love to peek at the analytics of today's DIS with the video parts vs 5 and 10'years ago. But I know Pete guards them with his life.

Carry on!!!

Hi Dustin, the only suggestion I have is that there are times, during the podcast, when everyone talks over each other. I love the enthusiasm, but it's hard to hear everyone.

I love the podcast and have been listening for a long time. The changes that have taken place through the years have had a positive impact and the production improvements are amazing. I also love that there are so many shows available now (The Trip, The Dis, Disneyland, and the Universal show) that I can listen every day.

Thanks to the team for all the time and effort that they put into the shows!

I try and I try but there's something with the Disneyland show that fails to connect with me. I feel bad because they all seem like very nice people.

This is great stuff. In addition to doing things like "7 in 7", send your folks into the parks with the mission of exploring the different outcomes that result from a change in variables.
  • Corey booked his 3 FPs in Epcot in the afternoon. Here is what he experienced in terms of standby waits and additional FP availability
  • Craig booked his 3 FPs in Epcot first thing in the morning. Here is what he experienced in terms of standby waits and additional FP availability.
  • Dustin booked his FPs only 3 days in advance. Here is what he found to be available.
  • Julie booked a FP for the parade and Corey did not. Here is the view that Julie had. Here is what Corey found as a decent spot arriving only 30 minutes before the parade started.

I really like this idea! This would be incredibly helpful for DISers in planning their trips, IMO. Right now I'm at the "meh" opinion of FP+. There were times we found it to be great (arrival day, or other 1/2 days), and days we found it to be very inflexible and not so great. I'd love to learn how to increase those great days from those who are able to go and test out different strategies and report back!

ETA: Reading through more of the responses, I can see how this might be uninteresting to the podcast team to host a whole show around. But perhaps it can be something included in other podcasts? Like maybe a podcast about various things in MK, there could be a 5 min inclusion with this kind of info?

I would also like to thank the podcast team for everything they do. I'm sure it seems like a thankless job with threads like this, but the work you do really is appreciated. I just started watching this podcast before our trip to Yacht Club in November, even though I've been a member on the DIS for years, and it is a bright spot in my week. I watch it with my 2.5 year old DD as we eat lunch on Tuesdays, and she loves watching you all too! :)

I know the answer will be "No, because Tom likes to do the show in his pajamas," but I would LOVE for the DL show to be video. Love the show, love the podcasters. I just think having video to go along with it would be wonderful.

Pete and Dustin are usually good about shutting everyone up, but yes. You'd think they'd know by now that no on can hear anything when everyones talking at once. It doesn't bother me, but I get anxious because I know it's pissing Pete/Dustin off and then the mood gets tense for a minute, sometimes :D

I have noticed this, mostly with Pete, and it gets a little awkward when you are listening to it.

Thanks for your comments. I can totally see it as a double edged sword with increased business but less time (due to podcast, reviews, etc...)

Unrelated, I wanted to say that a positive of the podcast is being able to interact with the team on the boards and social media. Thanks for doing that so often!

Rapid Fire should probably have a cook timer and ding when time is up; then a discussion.

Or you could use it when there's a debate about a certain topic, i.e., "Kathy, you have two minutes. Tell us why Figment is the greatest character on Disney property."

Cook timer would definitely cut down on interruptions.

I would like to know if any team member has been at Mk since alot of the hub area has reopened, mainly the FP+ wishes area. I wonder if this would be worth using a FP for. The area looks nce from the photos I see, but I would love a video, I just cant get a good feel for it.
How does the team like what is done so far?
