Pictures of things No Longer Seen at WDW

I do remember the POTC before they changed it. Not only were the men chasing the women but the big banner read "Buy a WENCH" instead of Buy a Bride. I seem to remember some brouhaha regarding it. Also, I can't remember because everytime we are get to that section we don't hear it. The overweight bride the guy is trying to sell, when the auctioneer names a price, does someone still yell "are you charging by the pound?" I figured they may have changed that too.

Yea that pirate still says that phase.

"Shift yer cargo, dearie, show 'em your larboard side."

LOL I remember that Robot race. My first trip ever to WDW was in 2008 and I was 43 (have been back many times since) and I was talked into doing the race. Well for most of the race this out of shape 43 year old man was leading the race, men women, kids teens, I was beating everyone....... and then at the very last wall you had to jump I ran out of energy LOL, wound up coming in 5th or 6th. This was all just months before they removed the race. I do still have my robot I built.

Exactly. Now put this on a t-shirt, and I will buy it!!

They did put that on a shirt, and sold it last summer:

They've been doing a ton of these retro attraction shirts over the last year or so--I've ordered far too many of them.

The Dinosaur outlives the adventurer!

No more Indiana Jones. [NOT SO... Evidently Indy escapes the ball again! I should have known.]

Those Dumbos with Christmas hats are adorable! My first trip was September 2013, so I don't remember a lot of these things but they're fun to look at. I didn't know they stopped putting the garland across Main Street for MVMCP. Does anyone know why they did?

It's because of the new parade. Due to some of the floats and especially the dragon, they could not have the garlands going across.

This thread is very interesting, including things I haven't seen before or for a long time. I have quite a few, I'll start with MGM/Hollywood Studios ones for now:
Catastrophe Canyon (backlot tour)

Ship from one of my favorite movies on backlot tour (Flight of the navigator)

They definitely recreated the starting from Gilligan's Island and superimposed people's faces inside the life preservers while the opening song played. I can't recall if they ever recreated scenes from the show.

Here's what I found on line:

The attraction started out with scenes from a number of shows including:

  • The Today Show with Dave Garroway
  • I Love Lucy
  • General Hospital
  • Gilligan's Island
  • Bonanza
  • CBS News - Live From the Moon
  • The Three Stooges
  • Cheers
  • Golden Girls
  • Late Night with David Letterman
  • The Tonight Show
  • Howdie Doodie (Later replaced with Home Improvement)

I was chosen (when I was about 16) for this show.I was part of some kind of mo-town girl group, lip syncing a song on a variety show. I was mortified, and I don't remember many details because I must have blocked it from my memory. Wish I had a tape of it now, though!

Veggie veggie fruit fruit
Veggie fruit fruit.

Anyone remember Kitchen Kabaret?

OMG. THAT WAS MY FAVORITE. When I went in 2013 (my last trip had been 2006, but I didn't look for it then) I searched all over Epcot for that. I was so devastated to find out that they got rid of it. RIP Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit

We can't forget Malestorm

1. and 2. - the old Test Track
3. American Idol Experience
4. and 5. Backlot Studio Tour

RIP old Test Track you are 1000% better than the current Test Track

I went through my photos from the last decade or so and found some things that are gone or have changed.
Over in DTD there used to be a store for pets: Disney Tails.

Push and his Animal Kingdom equivalent are no longer greeting guests in Tomorrowland or Conservation Station.

It really stinks that they no longer have a store dedicated to Pets. I'm surprised that Disney has not tried to capitalize on that huge market. Plus I really want stuff for my Pug!
Aw PUSH. I think I saw him once and he was soo cool wish the DF could have met him!
MEET FIGMENT?! Why wasn't I aware of this? When did this happen? WHY did I miss this? I LOVE Figment!

I'm glad that I got to see that Parade in 2013. I like it 100 times better than the current MSEP... :/ Glad that I have the pictures and youtube videos to remember it by!! RIP :(

Barbie, Ken and Skipper at EPCOT, January 1995

I vaguely remember this (I was 8/9) and thought there was maybe a show with a something like, "In Barbie's world!" song - turns out there was!

OMG when I was little I watched that show so many times and my grandma and mom figured out which seat the pull the kid from for the on stage participation and made sure I was in the seat in order to get called up on stage! I think there is an old home movie of that someone because I remember watching it when I was older. OMG so many memories.

Thanks for all the pictures guys! Although I don't remember most of the stuff because I wasn't born yet, all the stuff that I do recognize is making me super nostalgic. It's also making me think, imagine what pictures we are going to be posting 20 years from now saying what we miss!!!:rolleyes1:scared::scared::scared:

Same boat here : borned in 1987 and first visit in 2005 so a lot of the things shown here are thing that I never saw. Really a great thread. I'll try to go myself through my thousands of pictures to look for a gone hidden gem!
