We were at AKL in Dec..never used the pool/hot tub later in the evening but I did notice a "pool closed" sign one evening around 11pm. Do they really close the hot tub that early?

We are headed down in a few weeks and this time we plan on using the pool/hot tub, so are out of luck come 11pm? For a group of 3 adults that is pretty early..lol!
....which hot tub was it? [there are two]

We are staying in a standard view room in June. Are there standard view rooms on a ground level floor - meaning would there be rooms with patios vs. a balcony with a railing around it? A couple years ago we stayed at they YC and had a first floor room. We actually had ducks trying to get in the patio door. I like animals, but don't want any critters in our room:)

.....oh, no worries.....critters are strictly verboten.....:teeth:

Does anyone know the direct phone number for Animal Kingdom Lodge? There use to be a listing of all the resorts, their addresses and phone numbers but I can't find it anywhere.

thanks

Staying this August! If my husband joins us, he will have to work from the resort. Can anyone comment on how reliable the wifi is?
We found wifi to be very reliable everywhere except on buses! I mean in the parks and resorts!

So true...none of this:

The one by the fitness centre & the main pool had signs saying closed. Never checked the other hot tub.
....ahhhh.....sometimes the more secluded one, over by the public viewing area, stays open a bit longer because, I imagine, it's not in plain sight....:confused3

Could I get some good advice re: making a room request at Kidani? This will be our first stay at AKL. We have a 2br lockout standard view. My DH and son are both disabled. My son needs a quiet place to sleep. He is at a significant risk for a seizure if he doesn't get enough sleep. If possible to have a little bit of a savannah view that would be fantastic for the kids. Also, a location with less walking for mobility issues. I realize this might be a tall order.

I am such an AKL newbie lol

Does anyone know if plenty of soap/shampoo is included? We rented points from a DVC member.

....you really have a special set of circumstances with your family. Personally, I'd call them directly and explain your specific needs. They are very good at trying to grant your requests...oh, I just saw that you rented from a DVC owner. I don't know how well you know that person. Perhaps they could call in your stead and address those needs for you....BTW, :welcome:

I stayed at Kidani in a two bedroom and you are going to love it! I thought they had plenty of shampoo and soap. However, two people in our group broke out in a rash and they thought it might be the soap. I think because of the sea salt? I think that was the ingredient not 100% sure though. So you might want to bring your own soap.

Definitely make sure you are not in a room near the pick up area for the busses. We heard the noise from that late into the night. If I remember correctly there was a kind of buzzing or bell that kept going off.

Not sure if this could be an option for your son, but I have trouble sleeping so I use ear plugs or a fan.

As far as less walking, it depends on if you have a car or are using busses. If you have a car, that would be ideal. The parking spaces are directly under the hotel. If you ask for a room near the elevator and explain your mobility issues it will bring you right down to the parking area and you will have very little walking.

You might want to try posting this under the DVC resort section or DVC mouselanious. You might find better info from other DVC members.

You are really going to love AKL. Have a great trip.

Can't help w/ Kidani standard views. But there are lovely rocking chairs to sit in and watch the animals on the savanna at Kidani.
Regarding the toiletries - each bathroom will have a set when you check in and they'll be replenished on day 4 depending on how long you are staying. I can only get one hair wash from those little bottles - so I pack extra shampoo. I also bring Tide pods in a zip lock bag as you only get one box of laundry detergent for the washer/dryer. Oh, and I make an early visit to Basin White at the GF and stock up on bath bombs for the spa tub :)

Just rented points for a stay in a standard studio in Jambo House this October. Very excited to stay here for the first time! Based on the Touring Plans room finder, it appears that all the standard studios in Jambo House would have either a savannah view or a pool view. Is that accurate? If this is the case, what's the benefit of paying more for a savannah view studio - aside from being guaranteed you won't get a pool view?

Thank you so much everyone for the advice! Do you think it would be best to request as close OT the lobby (Kidani) as possible?

We won't have a car.
