It may a bit early for this question...but, I will ask anyway. Last time we cruised out of Galveston we parked at BOI Valet. BOI Valet is out of business and VIP is now in their spot, but they are not parking for Disney cruises :confused3. Therefore, trying to figure out parking options - are y'all planning on park and cruise at hotel or just parking at near the boat?

We LOVED that BOI was inside, protected parking. I can't find anything offering inside protected parking. Do y'all know of any?
Pigletsmomma's suggestion is a good one if you plan on staying the night before. There are several hotels in the area that will have a stay and cruise package. With the package, you can park your car for the length of your cruise as long as you stay one night before. Some hotels also include free transportation to the port.
If you prefer to use cruise parking, I recommend Discount Cruise Parking (DCP Cruise Parking link). We parked there for the cruise we just returned from. Parking for the week only cost $35. So, once we paid for the hotel for the previous night (we stayed near Hobby Airport), and the parking, we had saved more than $30 over the best priced hotel we could find with a stay and cruise package. I am not sure what the hotel prices will be for Thanksgiving (I have not checked yet), but the Saturday before we sailed, the Oak Ridge Boys were in concert at the Grand Opera House, so with a high demand for rooms, the prices were at peak levels.
Our parking experience was a very good one. They unloaded our luggage for us, and loaded it on to the shuttle. We only had to wait a few minutes from arrival before departing for the port. The driver was very helpful. I have problems navigating stairs, and he helped me on and off the bus. Plus when we got to the port, he brought a porter over for us, and transferred our luggage from the shuttle to the porters cart.

Hello we are a family of 3 (dh, dd (9)) and are super excited about the cruise. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise, 2nd on the Wonder.

Please let me know how to join in the fe, we couldn't imagine a cruise without it!

Thanks!
Welcome to the group spjack13!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will add you to the roll call, and the FE list. Look for a PM with the info for the FE shortly.

P.S. Sorry for the delay of the post. I was at sea for the past week, and did not want to give the internet/ WiFi pirates pirate: any money, thus I had to go a week with out any technology :badpc:

With my non-Disney cruise now behind me:sail:, not only am I more determined to stick with Disney, I also have the time to devote to planning for this cruise! :dogdance:
That has given me the time this week to dedicate to finishing the FE spread sheet!
So, when someone is wanting to join the FE group, I can now send them the spreadsheet to fill in :teleport: YEAH!

Now on to planning this month's Planning Partyparty:
The task for February is to decide on shirts for each day, and dinner attire (and to bring some disney fun in as well, with a mickey cake, and disney music ). The boys have grown so much since our last Disney trip (heck, our youngest grew 6 inches right after school started this year), plus we added 1 more to our traveling group this time around. That means I am going to have to get busy making everyone's shirts. :laundy:

Oh, we also got our pack-a-basket set up in the corner, so we can start dropping in the do not forget items like uv lip balm and lanyards. The basket will continue to collect items over the next several months. When I finish the FE's or the shirts, they will be added in. Then when I start planning for our packing planning party, I will go through the basket with a packing list in hand, checking off everything we already have so I can see what is left to get. :magnify:

HeHe....a little over 9 months to go :D

I had a soon to be member of the group ask me today about cabana rentals on Castaway. While writing my reply, I thought that this is information that may be helpful to everyone. So, here is a copy of my response:

Booking the Cabanas on Castaway
:

When you can book depends on your CC status.

Platinum/Concierge- 120 days out
Gold- 105 days out
Silver- 90 days out
new cruisers-75 days out

How much will they cost:

This depends on where you want the cabana.

The cabanas will hold a maximum of 6 guests.
On the Family Beach, they can be rented for $549 per day
or
for $399 on the Serenity Bay Beach (adult only beach).

FYI: Here is a link with more info about Cast Away

Hope this helps.

Welcome TweetyandKitty (glad you finally made it) and The Schick 4!
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

I will get you both on the roll call, and I am the one you will send the FE info to. Check your PM (personal messages) :surfweb: for a message from me (pixiehallow). I will send you a list of what I need.

Also, remember to make sure you are following the thread. That way you won't miss any messages.

Oh, and The Schick 4 just a word of warning for a first time cruiser...:scared: ....Be careful, Disney Cruises are addictive:love:

~Tink~

Sign us up for roll call and let me know who to send FE info to! Getting excited for our first Disney Cruise!!!
The Schick 4, I tried to send you a PM with the information needed for the FE list, but was unable to send it. The message I received stated that I was not able to send messages to The Schick 4. You may need to go into your profile by hovering over your screen name at the top of the page:

Dis screen capture.PNG When you do, you should see something like the picture. From here, click on contact details, and go in to make adjustment on how and when you receive notifications. To be able to communicate via PM's, you have to allow messages to be sent to you. Also while you are there, make sure you have selected to receive notifications about thread updates (you may need to double check in privacy and Alert Preferences as well).
There are many other neat things to do here like choosing a personalized Avatar and if you choose, and the appearance or lay out of the forum.

If you could let me know when your Personal Messages are set and ready to go, I will try again to send you the message.

I pre paid last week through EZ cruise parking. They have two discount codes... $20 off if you choose to park and walk.. and $15 off if you choose to park and use the shuttle.
Ended up being just shy of 55 dollars for the week.

Welcome Solaryss
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will definitely add you to our roll call and FE exchange.
It is currently a small group, and I am all for keeping the number of cabins at what ever level people are comfortable with. So, if we want say groups of only 10, we can start a second group when we hit 11. Also, for those who want more cabins, we had people on our last cruise that had their cabins listed in each of our 6 groups.

I will send you a PM shortly with the information I need to include on the FE.

~Tink~

Solaryss,
Please see message 50 (the post just before your first post). I got the same message when I tried to PM you.

Let me know if you need any help.

This had been an accidental double post, so I thought I would edit it and post some of my favorite smilies for fun!

I don't see where it says anything about PM's being disabled.. went through all the setting.. I clicked on your name and messaged you though. Let me know if you get it.

Welcome Solaryss!
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will definately add you to the list. And, I am more than willing to keep the group sizes at what ever is comfortable for everyone. So, say we set it at 10 cabins, and an 11th one joins, than we will start a new group. Now for those who want to more cabins, I can include you on multiple lists.

~Tink~
Can you try PM'ing me now?

I just got some helpful input / advice for anyone who has just joined the DIS community in regards to being able to message others (or as it is now called, conversations ). Here is a copy of the message :

For those who are new with only a few posts, they will not be able to use the PM system until they reach 10 posts. You might suggest to them that they go to the DIS Technical Support/Test board where they can quickly and easily post some one word (or one letter) posts to get their count up to 10.

Once they have 10 posts, they will be able to send a PM (now called "Conversation"). There will be a link at the upper right on every page to their "Inbox" and they can click on any username and a link to "Start a conversation" will be available. In addition, they will then be able to upload images and have links in their signature

I hope this helps:flower:

~Tink ~

Can you try PM'ing me now?

We are all set. Thank you for getting the information back to me.

For those of you who are new to the DIS board, and have not been able to get your FE information to me because you have not been able to use the 'Conversation' tab (as seen in post 50), please see post 57. The suggestion mentioned there will open up your ability to use the 'Conversation' utility.

~Tink~

:beach:Only 141 days until I can start booking Cabanas and excursions!:boat:
This is a list of when your window opens:
Platinum/Concierge- 120 days out (so that is in 126 days)
Gold- 105 days out (141 days away)
Silver- 90 days out (this would be in 156 days)
new cruisers-75 days out (and this would be 167 days from today)

Who else is getting excited?

Question: If you plan on making edible FE's how do you get them past check in? Since snacks and such are not allowed. Do they check your carryons?
