Where did the missing NYC trip date go?

More out of curiosity at this point but my DH said if it shows back up (not holding my breath) we can do it. Last year, ABD showed an August 6th, 2015 NYC Long Weekend in all their paper materials. I want to say I saw it on the website last fall. That might be wishful thinking since it's gone now.

Does anyone know what happens to these trips? I know cruises can get booked by a private party and they rebook folks that are on that sail date. Is this something like that?

It *could* be. (This is part things I've seen, part things I've been told, and a bit of conjecture. But I believe it's close.)

ABD does allow folks such as Travel Agents to "take" a specific departure of an ABD as an "exclusive departure", which means only people who book through that TA can book it. The catch, according to my understanding, is that they have to have at least 14 people signed up by a certain date to retain it as "exclusive". (It was 14 last time I heard. This number may have changed) So you may see those departures still on the website, listed as "Now Accepting Waitlist - Call for Details". ABD will put folks on the waitlist in case the TA does not manage to get the 14 people booked by the cutoff date. At that point, folks on the waitlist will get first chance to book that date.

However, if the TA signed up for an exclusive departure, and managed to get that minimum 14 people right off the bat (or perhaps even more) then there's really no reason for ABD to keep the date on the website, or sign people up on a waitlist. So I imagine it would "disappear" at that point.

The Adventures by Disney website is showing an Aug 13 - Aug 16, 2015, trip now. Maybe they just changed the dates. What did Adventures by Disney say when you called them?

They didn't show it. Full or otherwise. I'm not sure the Vacationistas have any additional info available to them. I think it's probably just removed from the schedule for whatever reason.
