Hey, ya'll! :grouphug:

First thing's first... I hope everybody had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! (And a Happy Chanukah, too!)

Happy_Holidays_Gif_bc775756ed0948808aec_1.jpg

This is the first I've been able to get on the Dis since Tuesday. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, I went and saw "Into the Woods" with my awesome friend and co-worker and her husband and kiddo. Her daughter is 11 years old, and we talked books the whole way to the theater. She's currently reading my personal favorites (Harry Potter) and I'm currently in the midst of reading her personal favorites (Percy Jackson / Heroes of Olympus). :cutie:

Thursday, of course, was Christmas dinner and gift exchanging with the family. My Aunt Debby and Uncle Mark (the ones accompanying me on this Disney trip) were down from Atlanta for a visit. Pretty much all we talked about was our upcoming trip, haha. :woohoo:

Funny story... Maybe a month or so ago, I was talking to my aunt on the phone, and she was asking me about what kind of park bag she should get for them to take turns carrying. I gave her some advice on what to look for, but then I didn't think about it much again after that... until Christmas Day. I was the first to get to my parents house (who were hosting), and when my aunt and uncle arrived, before I could even say hello, my Uncle Mark runs into the living room where I was sitting reading a book, and he's wearing a messenger bag and goes "LOOK, BILLIE! IT'S OUR DISNEY BAG!" And proceeds to tell me about where they got it, how they can easily carry this and that, how apparently it's the same one Jack Bauer on "24" carries, etc. Then when my Aunt Debby got in the house, she joined in. I was giggling like crazy, it's was pretty hilarious! :rotfl2:

Oh oh oh. And THEN Aunt Debby asks me if there's pins they can buy at Disney World to decorate the front of their bag with. So I told her all about the pin trading phenomenon, and assured her that if there's one item she won't lack for at Disney World, it's PINS. :goodvibes She was pretty excited about that!

I also gave them a brief description of the ADRs I've narrowed the short list down to, and they're fine with all of them. After chatting with my aunt some, I'm probably going to do some research in the Restaurants forum here on the Dis. I found out she's highly allergic to mushrooms, so I'll be sure to note that on all of our ADRs. But she also has a gluten intolerance, and prefers to eat as Gluten-Free as possible. So I'm going to look into what options are available at the restaurants I've chosen. :scratchin

For their gift, which I meant to take a picture of before I wrapped it up and TOTALLY forgot, I got them each a Disney gift card. I gave them the option to hang on to them and spend them when we get there, or they could hand them back to me and I could apply them to their package balance. They said NOPE, we want to take them with us and spend them! In the box with the gift cards, I rounded up all of the various Disney World literature that I have here in the office. I also included the 2014 Planning DVD, since the 2015 ones haven't arrived yet. I threw in some Universal / Harry Potter stuff too, since my aunt is just as excited for that as she is for Disney. pixiedust:

Dinner was good, and my deviled eggs were a hit as usual. The family says that I apparently make them better than anybody else (my secret: ranch and bacon), therefore I am morally obligated to make them for most holiday meals... especially when Uncle Mark is coming to dinner. He LOVES them. In fact, he spied the tray of them on the counter and turned to me and asked if I made them, and I told him Yes, because I knew he was gonna be there, and so he pulled me in for a big hug. Haha.

So after all that fun, I went home and stayed up waaaay too late reading. So much so that the next day, Friday (which, as a Federal employee, I had off work... Thanks, Obama!), when I went over to my grandparents house to have lunch with them and my aunt & uncle before they left town, I was just absolutely out of it. I ended up sorta half-dozing on the couch while I chatted with them. When I got home, I was in bed and out cold by 6:30pm. :lmao:

So that brings us to today! I'm at work, and it's BUSY, and I just want to do Disney things! (I'm writing this update in between clients.) :crazy2:

I meant to take more photos of Christmas, but I totally spaced. So when I got home, I tried to make up for it by taking pictures of my LOOT. :rotfl:

Now, most of my Christmas from my family came to me in the form of Cash back in September, to help me with my last Disney trip. So half of what you're about to see is stuff I actually bought for myself. I ordered some things off of Amazon last week, and I always have packages shipped to my Mom's house, since she's home during the day. I hate the idea of things I've ordered just sitting on my apartment's doorstep until I get home in the evening from work. So when these packages started arriving at her house, she just wrapped them up and put them under the tree with tags that said "To: Billie, From: Billie." That way I had things to open on Christmas with everybody else!

THE LOOT:

I kinda suspected this was going to happen, and I'm just thrilled! My mom got this for me as a "Stocking Stuffer." During Black Friday weekend, a friend linked me to sale they were having on Amazon on this set... it was marked down to, like, $26 or something insane. So I immediately sent the link to my Mama, haha. She wouldn't confirm or deny if she got it for me or not, though! Sooooo happy that she did!

20141225_222909.jpg

The afore-mentioned awesome co-worker and friend, Rachel, got me this adorable gift basket with a bottle of wine, and a really nice water bottle (she has one just like it with an "R" and she remembered me admiring it the first time I saw it, so she went and got me one)... and there were some Christmas chocolates too, but I'd already left them in my desk here at work. My candy stash was running low!

20141225_223001.jpg

The first gift I got myself. I like to listen to music when I'm laying in bed reading, this is perfect on my nightstand. Plus it was on sale for only $19.99!

20141225_223120.jpg

Also gifts from me to me. The final two books of the Heroes of Olympus series I'm currently reading.

20141225_223440.jpg

Third gift to myself. Books 2 & 3 of the Ephemera series, which I'm starting next. I read the first two books years ago, before the third book was released, and LOVED them, but then never came back to them until now. They're currently out-of-print in Hardcover, so I had to order them used, but they're in Like New condition. (Book 1 has been ordered too, but it didn't arrive in time for Christmas.)

And finally... CASH MONEY. From my Nana & Papa and my Aunt Debby & Uncle Mark. This is going towards my balance due on my Disney World package. :thumbsup2

So there you go, my Christmas in one very long-winded post! I hope your celebrations were just as full of love and joy! :santa:

I hope you had a merry christmas! (And thanks for throwing in the happy chanukah - I'm guess that was at least in part for me :))

How was Into the Woods? I refuse to see if because I hate Johnny Depp (yeah, everyone thinks I'm nuts for that one), but I'm interested to hear how it was. I saw the play a few years ago and really liked it.

I love how excited your Aunt and Uncle were about the Disney bag! It's so hard to find the right bag for Disney, so I guess it makes sense for them to be excited about finding one.

Stealing Disney World literature from work as part of a Christmas present ... that makes shopping easier. Next year you can get them something at Disney as their Christmas present!

Yay for getting the Harry Potter DVDs! I'm actually thinking of pulling out mine (I also have the 8-disc set) and watching one when I'm done catching up on my DIS time. At my old job we used to just take 30 minutes once or twice a week to watch Harry Potter just for some down time ... but we only got to the second movie because we were too busy.

The rest of the gifts look great too! I like that you're applying your cash to paying off your balance. I may have gotten some cash for Chanukah that was immediately put aside for souvenirs :rolleyes1 (in my defense, the only souvenir I'm planning to buy is a Pandora bead, and the cash I got almost covers the cost of the one I want).

Also ... less than 100 days until Park Hours come out? Yay! Only about 3 months until you can actually start making more concrete plans!

Of course it was! I had originally wrote, "...and a Happy Chanukah to Sarah, too!" but I didn't know if you would like being singled out like that, so I revised. :p

Oh, if that's the only reason, then you should definitely still see it. His role is small, he's on screen maybe a grand total of 15 minutes towards the beginning of the film, and then he's out. In a 2-hour film, that doesn't amount to much time at all. :thumbsup2

They're adorable. I think they were just excited to be buying things for our Disney trip. You know how that just makes the whole thing feel so much more REAL! :woohoo:

I thought it would be more fun than just handing them gift cards that they can't spend until our trip nearly a year away. At least this way, they have things to read and watch until then! ::yes::

Maaaaan. I wish I could take a Potter break at work! That would be AWESOME.

In addition to paying off my trip, I have some pretty lofty goals in regards to saving up spending money. I know my aunt is a shopper, so I expect I'll be doing a LOT more shopping this time around. Plus I hardly drink at all at home, so when on vacation I tend to treat myself a bit. :drinking1

Also ... less than 100 days until Park Hours come out? Yay! Only about 3 months until you can actually start making more concrete plans!
Actually, my "# days until Park Hours" is an approximate. I know I'll have access to the December 2015 park hours sometime during April, so I set my countdown for April 1st. It'll probably be closer to the middle of the month, but STILL! April is the closest thing to be excited about! :hyper:

Maybe I'll see it. I didn't realize he had such a small role. I really liked the play, so I'll probably like the movie too (assuming it's relatively true to the play)

I know the feeling ... I totally can't blame them!

Good call. Having Disney stuff to read and watch is awesome. I actually just came across my planning DVD when cleaning my desk and thought about watching it again.

Maaaaan. I wish I could take a Potter break at work! That would be AWESOME.
It was only 2 of us in the office (most of the time), so we goofed off sometimes. I don't know whose idea it was (probably mine), but it was a nice way to put aside the stress of the office for a short amount of time. I highly recommend it if you can.

I get that. If I went with someone who shopped a lot, I'd probably be spending all my money. As it is I sometimes spend more than I should ...

Maybe Disney will be very nice to you and release them early! Even if they release them mid-April, it's only a little more 100 days. Definitely something to be excited about!

Great plans!

I LOVE the story of your Aunt and Uncle with their park bag...too darn cute.

Lovely gifts you received.

Love the plans! So cute your Aunt and Uncle are excited for your trip and want to get into the Show your Disney side! FUN!

Maaaaan. I realized last night that I miscalculated. It will likely be MAY, not April, when I get the December 2015 park hours. DOH! :headache: So that countdown is back up to 122 days now! :sad1:

If they got that excited over a park bag, I can't wait to see what else happens over the next year of planning! :goodvibes

Hey, ya'll! :grouphug:

Since I already know that I most likely won't be on the Dis tomorrow, I wanted to go ahead and wish everybody...

fba411889220968d96dcc189d067e334.png

As for me, I'm working today, but I do get to close-up the office and go home 1 hour early (at 5pm instead of the usual 6pm). However, that's the extent of my New Year's Eve celebration. I don't do the whole NYE revelry, as I prefer to be reclusive and keep myself tucked away safely in my apartment. Midnight will likely come and go without any notice for me, since I'll be curled-up in my bed with a book, some music, and two cute kitties snuggled in with me. :cat::cat:

Tomorrow I think it's a causal dinner with the parents and grandparents. My Mom has a taste for IHOP for some reason. Which is fine by me, they make crazy tasty omelets. :thumbsup2

How about all of you? Do ya'll have any plans for tonight or tomorrow? :cutie:

Happy New Year to you as well, Billie.

We don't go out...we leave that to the amateurs. Actually, Mark is working from 5 to 9 p.m. and our office is closing at 2. Mark works all day tomorrow so it is taking down all the Christmas stuff day for me.

Happy New Year!! We stay in on NYE, too. Just the idea of being out on the roads tonight gives me the willies. Maybe we'll watch some Disney movies tonight... :idea:Tomorrow we might take my mom out to lunch or something. It's going to be a really low key few days, maybe a couple small projects around the house.

Enjoy your day tomorrow. :):goodvibes

Happy New Year, Billie! I hope 2015 is a great year for you.

I usually just watch a movie starting at about 11 on New Year's Eve, but I think this year I'm thinking about trying to change my luck and just hitting the sack earlier. I'm not really a big party person these days, so I usually just stay in and take it easy.

It's so funny you said that, because on New Year's Eve, my Facebook status update read something like, "It's only 8 minutes into 2015, and already I am hearing emergency responder sirens passing by my apartment. Welcome to Amateur Night, folks. I'm going to bed, good night and please be safe out there!" :rotfl: It seems like sooooo long ago that going out and partying on NYE sounded like a good idea!

Low-key days are my FAVORITE days. (I'm not lazy, I just I spend 357 days a year getting rested up for Disney World! :thumbsup2 )

Did you make it to Midnight, Sarah? I did, barely, and went right to bed after. I made an attempt to watch one of the NYE specials in Times Square leading up to the ball drop, but the musical acts they had on were just making me cringe. I'm SO out-of-touch with the current pop music scene. I'm 34... time to start chasing kids off of my lawn! (Wait, I live in an apartment, I don't have a lawn... Off of my staircase/balcony area, maybe?) :lmao:

Hey Hey! Just joining in on your new PTR!!!!

And just to partake into the NYE plans - totally just stayed in with the dog. And we went to sleep at like 8:30pm. WAHOO!!!!

I love how your mom wrapped your Amazon packages as if they were Christmas presents - how fun!

Disney is very good about accommodating food allergies, including gluten. Just make sure it is marked on the dining reservation. Your aunt will be able to get things like gluten free Mickey waffles, for example. Even quick service restaurants will be able to make gluten free food. It just takes a little longer.

De-lurking to join in!

I did a gluten-free trip a couple of years ago and I had the BEST gluten-free fried chicken at 50's Prime Time. You just need to give them a heads up because it takes longer to make. Also some ridiculously good macadamia pancakes at Kona.
Your Aunt will be thrilled.

Fortunately I have learned that being GF doesn't make any difference to me and I will now nom freely on anything and everything at WDW.

I made it to 11:15 ... went to bed around then, but was kept up by fireworks near my house ... so I think I was actually still awake at midnight. Lying in bed wishing I was asleep counts as being awake at midnight, right?
I haven't watched the Times Square stuff in a while ... the bits than can grab my attention are so few and far between that I don't bother. I actually almost went to Times Square once ... when I was in college and living in midtown I wanted to walk down there, but thankfully someone talked me out of it.
Chasing kids off your staircase/balcony definitely counts as chasing them off your lawn ... although at least you don't have worry about chasing squirrels off your lawn! (seriously, squirrels love my lawn, and I don't know why)

That is all, I now return you to your regularly-scheduled Sunday DISing. :cutie:

Congratulations, Billie! 15 pounds is a great accomplishment especially during the holiday season. :cool1: :goodvibes

1) A - Yay for 11 months!!!!
B - OMG, I love that you used Cory and Shawn! Very appropriate celebrating (I'm a big Boy Meets World fan)
