Hey, ya'll!
First thing's first... I hope everybody had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! (And a Happy Chanukah, too!)
This is the first I've been able to get on the Dis since Tuesday. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, I went and saw "Into the Woods" with my awesome friend and co-worker and her husband and kiddo. Her daughter is 11 years old, and we talked books the whole way to the theater. She's currently reading my personal favorites (Harry Potter) and I'm currently in the midst of reading her personal favorites (Percy Jackson / Heroes of Olympus).
Thursday, of course, was Christmas dinner and gift exchanging with the family. My Aunt Debby and Uncle Mark (the ones accompanying me on this Disney trip) were down from Atlanta for a visit. Pretty much all we talked about was our upcoming trip, haha.
Funny story... Maybe a month or so ago, I was talking to my aunt on the phone, and she was asking me about what kind of park bag she should get for them to take turns carrying. I gave her some advice on what to look for, but then I didn't think about it much again after that... until Christmas Day. I was the first to get to my parents house (who were hosting), and when my aunt and uncle arrived, before I could even say hello, my Uncle Mark runs into the living room where I was sitting reading a book, and he's wearing a messenger bag and goes "LOOK, BILLIE! IT'S OUR DISNEY BAG!" And proceeds to tell me about where they got it, how they can easily carry this and that, how apparently it's the same one Jack Bauer on "24" carries, etc. Then when my Aunt Debby got in the house, she joined in. I was giggling like crazy, it's was pretty hilarious!
Oh oh oh. And THEN Aunt Debby asks me if there's pins they can buy at Disney World to decorate the front of their bag with. So I told her all about the pin trading phenomenon, and assured her that if there's one item she won't lack for at Disney World, it's PINS. She was pretty excited about that!
I also gave them a brief description of the ADRs I've narrowed the short list down to, and they're fine with all of them. After chatting with my aunt some, I'm probably going to do some research in the Restaurants forum here on the Dis. I found out she's highly allergic to mushrooms, so I'll be sure to note that on all of our ADRs. But she also has a gluten intolerance, and prefers to eat as Gluten-Free as possible. So I'm going to look into what options are available at the restaurants I've chosen.
For their gift, which I meant to take a picture of before I wrapped it up and TOTALLY forgot, I got them each a Disney gift card. I gave them the option to hang on to them and spend them when we get there, or they could hand them back to me and I could apply them to their package balance. They said NOPE, we want to take them with us and spend them! In the box with the gift cards, I rounded up all of the various Disney World literature that I have here in the office. I also included the 2014 Planning DVD, since the 2015 ones haven't arrived yet. I threw in some Universal / Harry Potter stuff too, since my aunt is just as excited for that as she is for Disney.
Dinner was good, and my deviled eggs were a hit as usual. The family says that I apparently make them better than anybody else (my secret: ranch and bacon), therefore I am morally obligated to make them for most holiday meals... especially when Uncle Mark is coming to dinner. He LOVES them. In fact, he spied the tray of them on the counter and turned to me and asked if I made them, and I told him Yes, because I knew he was gonna be there, and so he pulled me in for a big hug. Haha.
So after all that fun, I went home and stayed up waaaay too late reading. So much so that the next day, Friday (which, as a Federal employee, I had off work... Thanks, Obama!), when I went over to my grandparents house to have lunch with them and my aunt & uncle before they left town, I was just absolutely out of it. I ended up sorta half-dozing on the couch while I chatted with them. When I got home, I was in bed and out cold by 6:30pm.
So that brings us to today! I'm at work, and it's BUSY, and I just want to do Disney things! (I'm writing this update in between clients.)
I meant to take more photos of Christmas, but I totally spaced. So when I got home, I tried to make up for it by taking pictures of my LOOT.
Now, most of my Christmas from my family came to me in the form of Cash back in September, to help me with my last Disney trip. So half of what you're about to see is stuff I actually bought for myself. I ordered some things off of Amazon last week, and I always have packages shipped to my Mom's house, since she's home during the day. I hate the idea of things I've ordered just sitting on my apartment's doorstep until I get home in the evening from work. So when these packages started arriving at her house, she just wrapped them up and put them under the tree with tags that said "To: Billie, From: Billie." That way I had things to open on Christmas with everybody else!
THE LOOT:
I kinda suspected this was going to happen, and I'm just thrilled! My mom got this for me as a "Stocking Stuffer." During Black Friday weekend, a friend linked me to sale they were having on Amazon on this set... it was marked down to, like, $26 or something insane. So I immediately sent the link to my Mama, haha. She wouldn't confirm or deny if she got it for me or not, though! Sooooo happy that she did!
The afore-mentioned awesome co-worker and friend, Rachel, got me this adorable gift basket with a bottle of wine, and a really nice water bottle (she has one just like it with an "R" and she remembered me admiring it the first time I saw it, so she went and got me one)... and there were some Christmas chocolates too, but I'd already left them in my desk here at work. My candy stash was running low!
The first gift I got myself. I like to listen to music when I'm laying in bed reading, this is perfect on my nightstand. Plus it was on sale for only $19.99!
Also gifts from me to me. The final two books of the Heroes of Olympus series I'm currently reading.
Third gift to myself. Books 2 & 3 of the Ephemera series, which I'm starting next. I read the first two books years ago, before the third book was released, and LOVED them, but then never came back to them until now. They're currently out-of-print in Hardcover, so I had to order them used, but they're in Like New condition. (Book 1 has been ordered too, but it didn't arrive in time for Christmas.)
And finally... CASH MONEY. From my Nana & Papa and my Aunt Debby & Uncle Mark. This is going towards my balance due on my Disney World package.
So there you go, my Christmas in one very long-winded post! I hope your celebrations were just as full of love and joy!
