Any chance for Port upgrade?

If my port arrival time is not until 12:30, is there any chance of getting an upgrade at the port? We booked late and this was the earliest time left...

I would never say never but it is more likely there won't be upgrades available then will be. Many sailings never have upgrades available, even for people first in the door. All depends on supply and demand on that cruise. If there are no upgrades available there will be a sign posted by the Supervisor's Desk.

I've actually read people have gotten upgrades at later times as long as you're not looking for concierge. The people who arrive first upgrade to higher category rooms, so their rooms become available. Does this make sense? So maybe depending on what category you are looking for, you may get lucky!

Assuming an upgrade is available, is there a discount for doing it at port?

Yes, it is cheaper to upgrade at the port then it is beforehand. There are several threads that discuss the discounts but it is not set in stone. The port staff have a chart for each cruise itinerary and base the price from what category you booked to what category you are looking for.

You can save a few hundred dollars by upgrading at port depending on what category you are going from and what category you want.

Our first cruise (October) was completely sold out. Our second cruise (September) had rooms available. We went from inside to concierge for $700 for 2 adults. It doesn't hurt to ask, but know that it might not be available.

Totally makes sense!
Not looking for concierge (there aren't any). Just looking for more room, we are currently in an 11B...

I guess we will see :)

Upgrades seem to have been harder to get, specially since DCL has been pushing special rates more and more (*GT, MIL, FLR, etc).

Basically, the ships are almost full at time of sailing and hence less and less upgrade opportunities come by.

Concierge are the first ones to go, and whatever is left is then picked up by whoever comes in after.

Although your PAT is not until 12:30, you could arrive by say 11am. Unless the ship is sold out, then you should still be able to enter the port and see if there's anything available. PAT enforcement is not always done and if it is, it's usually for the early times.

I plan on arriving at 10:30, if I have I wait that's ok I know the risk :)
