Me? A Princess? Shut Up! My 1st PHM PTR!

Welcome everyone! As you can tell the name of my thread is "Me? A Princess? Shut Up!!" I of course got that from one of my favorite movies, "Princess Diaries" and I can say it quite well. This is my Pre-trip Report for my very 1st Princess Half Marathon that I am going to begin training for on Friday, August 1st!!

I got this bright idea a few years ago that I would add running the Princess Half Marathon to my bucket list but never thought that I could do it. I have always been considered a clutz and tend to trip over my own feet when walking on pavement. I thought to myself, what makes me think I can run if I trip on perfectly flat surface? Well then my husband said that if I started to run that he would pay for a trip to Disney World and for the registration for me to run it. So that was one of my motivations to run it. My best friend from 5th grade and growing up in Maryland also had something to do with me registering this year. She said that if I signed up for it she too would sign up with me to run it with me. She unfortunately didn't get in before it was sold out this year but that still didn't stop me from registering. So now that I am fully registered it's time to start my training since I'm completely out of shape. ;)

I'll go ahead and introduce myself to you...my name is Charlotte and I have been married a little over 2 years to the love of my life, Jason. Jason proposed to me in April 2012 at Cinderella's Royal Table and we took our honeymoon in August 2012 to Disney World. We love Disney World so much that we choose to go there rather than the beach since we live within driving distance of the beach and can go anytime we want. His sister lives at the beach and one of my best friends does too. We live in Eastern North Carolina and I have a daughter from a previous marriage whose name is Olivia. She is my pride and joy and loves anything Disney as well. She begs to go back each year too which kind of helps with us going back every year! :rolleyes1 Then we have a cute little chihuahua puppy named Yoda. He is so adorable and well he is a mama's boy. He follows me around and has to sleep right next to me at all times.

I have already signed up to run a 5k this September and I will be signing up to run a 10k to get in a better corral for the PHM. Until the next update stay tuned and have a magical day! :wizard:

Hi Charlotte! Congratulations on starting your journey to the PHM. I began running just 4 weeks ago, so it'll be great to follow along and cheer you on.

Hi There!
I am participating in the Princess 10k. I have previously done the 1/2 marathon and the ToT 10 miler, I guess I keep lowering my distance as I get older, ha!

Good luck in your training!

Thanks for following along! I have tried before to run but I kept falling off the band wagon or injuring myself so hopefully there will be no mishaps this go round.

Yay for the Princess 10k! I thought about doing the GSC but decided against it this year since I was just starting out. But told my hubby that I want to do the Wine & Dine Half next year with him..so we shall see if I can get him into running with me. Good luck with the Princess 10k!

Hi! Congrats on signing up! I did the PHM in 2011 and it was my first half marathon ever. I don't think I had run even more than a 5k before signing up for it. I loved it, and have done it 3 times now, along with several other halfs. You will have a great time!

Shoes are Required to Run!!!

Yes, Shoes are required to run! I say that because living in North Carolina and only living about an hour or so from the beach I don't wear them. If I can help it I would live in Flip Flops and honestly year round I do unless there is snow on the ground. But since I have to get accustomed to running I guess I will have to get accustomed to running shoes. I have actually gone to a running shoe store and got fitted for shoes that are my actual size. For years I have always thought I wore a size 9 in womens so that is what I have been buying. Nope! My feet actually measure a size 7 women's extra wide. Hmmm..that all makes sense now as of why some of the shoes I have seem to swallow my feet or I seem to trip more. Haha! I was never properly fitted!

So they had to order the shoes and when I went to go pay for them their system was down so I will most likely be ordering the shoes from online but I will have to get a pair of extra wide shoes which completely stinks because they don't have any really cute pretty girly ones out there. They are ugly and boyish looking. Ugh! Oh well, I might could swing a wide but still it's hard to find wide shoes in my area I live in right now. And the nearest running store is a good hour or more away from me. So my best bet is to order them online and if they don't fit to return them online. I will most likely be getting the Brooks Dyad 7 but the Dyad 8 are really pretty! So either one looks good to me!

But until I can afford to get them I will be using some of the older shoes I have that I haven't really worn and they look brand new to start training in. I know I can do this! I've got this!

I just wanted to update you all on my progress of this training which is not really happening. I am in the middle of packing up my house by myself to get moved to our new house (my parents house) by the end of the month and so my training has taken the back seat as of now. I feel bad because I want to get training as quickly as I can but for now the packing seems to continue to happen. I just finished up with my classes for the summer and I just began two more classes. I'm looking forward to these two classes and will know that I need to buckle down in order to pass them. Lots of reading but the two classes that I am taking are Organizational Business and Economics. I am praying that I pass these two packages and all that fun stuff.

But as soon as I am finished up with this move and all that I will be back to training. I will be walking in a 5k on September 6th and can't wait! It's going to be awesome!:thumbsup2

Oh boy! Sounds like a big job!

Don't worry, you have lots of time! I think most of the Disney training guides start 4 months before the race. Did you download the traning guides?

Good luck with the move and the classes!

I have downloaded the guides to training and will begin in September most likely it will be October. We are heading to Disney World on September 21st and will be coming home on September 28th. So I am not planning on doing anything except eat and walk when I'm there and enjoy myself. I might go for a little jog around while at Pop Century but for now I will be enjoying our family vacation. ;)

So I haven't updated this in forever but life got away from me. Between school, work and more it's just been super busy. I didn't even do my last trip report from when we went to Disney World in September if that tells you how crazy life has been. But we also moved at the beginning of September and so well it's been real. lol.

Here is an update on our upcoming trip and the trip of where I do plan on doing a trip report for!

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Guest Room and we are super excited about it. It's just me and my hubby going and we are going to treat this as our little romantic getaway to celebrate our upcoming 3 year wedding anniversary and my 34th birthday. We have ADR's for:

2/20: The Plaza Restaurant
2/21: Boma (Breakfast)
2/22: (Race Day) Cape May Cafe (Dinner)

We have only gotten the Regular Dining Plan compared to the Deluxe like we normally do just to save a little money this go round. We are planning on going back in September so this is when we will get the deluxe dining plan.

Come to believe it I have not made any fastpass selections yet. Surprising I know! Trust me! But I plan on working on that today. It's around 4am and I have yet to go to sleep but since we are leaving super early tomorrow am I better get a little bit of sleep before Olivia comes and wakes me up. Praying my travel documents come to me today in the mail!
