Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the host hotels are? I tried clicking the link on the rundisney site and still could not find the list. Does Rundisney offer discount rooms for this weekend? Can you park at Epcot for the 5k? I have done other races but stayed on property. But this time we may stay off site.

Thanks Princesses and Princes for any info.

All hotels are host, to my knowledge (so far) no discounts for hotels.

You can park at Epcot, but I'm not sure how bad traffic is or how fast you want to get there since I've only ever parked for bigger events.

Thank you so much for all the replies. I did not realize how big this race was!:lmao: The other races I ran at Disney just a few hotels were host hotels. Since I can park at Epcot for the 5k, now I have a big decision to make: onsite or offsite. Oh well I am just glad I am doing this!

I am doing a mix of renting dvc points the week before and booking a hotel through a travel agent for the actual race weekend. I used a travel agent recommended by one of the posters on this board (and via the facebook page) and she has been very nice and helpful! And she seems to have some room block discounts because I am definitely not paying rack rate :goodvibes Am I allowed to say her name here? lol. I usually never name names, so if it is inappropriate please someone let me know and I'll remove it. But I used Jennifer Greene with Destinations in FL. I think she is also a rundisney event runner so she understands all our craziness!

DH and I are in the market for watches with GPS capabilities... Anyone have any recommendations??

Go to dcrainmaker.com for some very detailed reviews on almost all the GPS watches out there. That way you can make a decision based on the money you want to spend balanced with the things you want the watch to be able to do. I am a beginner runner and went ahead and sprang for the Garmin Forerunner 220. I love everything about it! I'm so glad I didn't put off getting a GPS watch. I did not get the bundle that includes the heart rate strap. I hate wearing chest straps and had heard so much about how they chafe. My next purchase will be one of the new optical heart monitors that will pair with my Garmin. Good luck on choosing your watch!

The fact that the 5K is still not sold out is torturing me! I would love to register, as running a runDisney race has recently become a dream of mine. And hearing the rumors that the 5K may be Frozen themed just adds to that torture! However, my job does not make doing an out-of-town race in Disney very easy. I work in a school district, and only get one personal day per school year. So having a race on a Friday morning would be almost impossible to do, unless I flew in very late Thursday night and just didn't sleep!

So jealous of everyone who gets to participate! Hopefully some day I'll be able to make it work out! My ultimate goal is to be able to do one of the half marathons (but that would be a while from now, since I am nowhere near ready for that), but any of the races would be a dream. In the meantime, I will just follow along in spirit and continue to fantasize about it!

I have the 220. I love it! I also have the chest strap and it doesn't bother me. It is actually more comfortable than the one that came with my Polar!

If it helps, you would have to attend the expo on Thursday to pick up your packet and I believe it closes at 8. So this weekend is probably not for you. BUT, both wine and dine weekend and tower of terror weekend have a 5k on Saturday morning :thumbsup2

True! You just have to pick one that doesn't have a 10K...or run the 10K! I realize that wouldn't help you for next year, but 10Ks are all on Saturday, except for the marathon weekend, if I recall.

Was that through my no guilt life? If so that's my blog/fb page. Jenn is great! And yes has rooms. At a discount. :)

Yes, you must be Patty. I was the one who posted it on the facebook page! I was afraid of ending up having to pay rack rate for rooms so I thought it was a great tip!

That's true, totally forgot about that! So yes, it does sound like it's definitely not a possibility for me. I'll have to shoot for a different race/year then. Maybe the Princess 10k or half marathon in 2016. :) or Wine and Dine 2015.

That actually is probably what I would have chosen first (the 10K), but since it's already sold out for next year that's why I was eyeing the 5k. I'm just going to have to wait for now and live through everyone else!

I have the nike sports watch and like it. I have had it since it first came on the market. Well, I have had three, the first had some issue in the first month and they replaced it, and then this past year I had a connection problem and nike replaced it again…both times for free. The interface with my apple computer is easy. I am not an advanced runner…just fun to see how I am doing when I am out running or walking. And you can both use it if you run at different times or if you run together.

Don't forget the tower of terror 10 miler, it is the next best race distance to a 10k, a nice bridge to a half, and they give some nice discounts on tickets and hotel. I am using the 10 miler as a precursor to the PHMprincess:

I'm signed up too, my first 10K ever!

Congrats on getting signed up for Princess, Megan! My DD started with Princess in 2013 and loved it ~~ really, she got hooked on the great medals you get!
Dumbo Double Dare is next for her @ DL. It's been so many years since we've been there; I'm really looking forward to going with her for that. Then it's Tot, Wine&Dine, Marathon weekend and Princess GSC :) .... and sign-up soon for Tink :tink:

Hope your weekend at the YC was great!
