I'm not sure what you mean. They got building 16 which does not have Preferred rooms. They didn't pay for Preferred so they got what they paid for. What "magic with preferred" are you talking about?

Shoot yeah my mind is gone right now. Ill go back and fix that. As you can see I have been busy and not on so much lately. I am freakin drained.

We are here at POR! Got here around 5:15am, an hour or so earlier than we thought we would.

Turns out, we can't check in yet because the computer doesn't think it's the current day until 7:00am. First bus to MK runs at 6:45, so we'll take that and come back around. 2:30 to check in.

We did do online checkin a couple of weeks ago. Hoping we can get into MK with our Magic Bands since we haven't officially checked in yet.

I will be going with my son who has autism and is scared of most animals but he has gotten better. He has expressed an interest in the carriage ride, but I want to let him see it in person before booking it.
How close are you to the horse while on the carriage. I am guessing the driver is between the horse and the passengers. Is there a space where we can walk past the horse/carriage, perhaps talk with the driver, and see how my son reacts to the horse before booking it?

Carriage is enclosed so I think it will be fine but yes you can walk right up to them and talk to the driver.

Ok guys I have a question? I had to change dates... Got dates changed, but all they had were garden view. I asked if I could have preferred. I mean if I was gonna pay an up charge would like to pay for preferred. The cm said there weren't any available but he would note our reservation that were wanting preferred. He even asked me if I had a building I was wanting.. Well my mind went blank, and all I could think of was 18. Is all of 18 preferred? I wasn't trying to get it for free, i would gladly pay extra at check in, if they have it, just wondering what kind of room I could get in building 18 garden view??? Ideas? Anyone??

18 is a preferred building, yes.

So is all of 18 a preferred building? Was it pointless to ask for a building that I can't get? Somebody have any pictures of a garden room for me?

No not pointless at all! There is plenty of times Disney provides a little extra magic or pixie dust and someone gets upgraded. It does happen!

I am sure someone has pics or will share them very soon.

Thank you! I just was wondering if the building had rooms that weren't preferred or if they won't look at my request because I didn't pay for preferred. I would have gladly, if they had it available:thumbsup2

All of the rooms in buildings 14, 15, 18 and 27 are sold as Preferred Location, with the exception of any rooms which fall into the King Bed, River View or Pool View categories which are always sold as such wherever in the resort they are located. Here you go:

There's no harm in asking for building 18 anyway though, especially if you mention in your fax that you did try to book Preferred but there was no availability at the time, and say that you don't mind paying an upgrade fee if there is one (it's very unlikely they will charge anything, but it never hurts to offer).

We are in building 16 and while it's not preferred, it's in a great location! It's just a couple minute walk to the food court and bus stop and it's a very pleasant walk. Or room is also very close to a quiet pool which we've already used on more than one occasion.

None of them have the capability to freeze, do they?

Our Fridge froze stuff although it did not have a separate freezer...... always had the opposite problem with Disney's fridges (barely cold at all) but I know they were all replaced. Our fridge at POR froze our drinks almost solid.... had to turn the temperature down on the fridge then it was better.... but if you want to freeze everything in the fridge, turn the temperature knob all the way toward cold and it will !!!

I know I'm waay late on this thread, (and I haven't read ahead yet to see if someone is going to say the same as me) but we have a toddler, we don't bring a car seat with us, and we always take taxis!! Here's the key, when you go to the taxi stand, only approach the buses, not the cars. We've gone three times in 2 years, and we have NEVER had a taxi driver NOT have a car seat with him. Most even carry two! You just have to ask. My husband installs it himself in a couple of seconds, and he tips the driver $2 up front before he installs, in addition to the tip at the end. My toddler was in a car seat for every single taxi ride, often twice a day. :) Just ask for them, they have them!:)

Does anyone have a link to FL law re: taxis and car seats then?

Thank you so much! I will be sure and do that in my fax. I am new to all the room classifications, and was just wondering how all that stuff works :)

Thinking of changing my CSR part of our split stay to POR (AB section)... 7/2-7/7

Does the resort do anything special for the 4th of July?

Is there adequate space for clothes storage in the alligator bayou rooms? We will be traveling with 5 and do not want our suitcases in the room for 11 days.

not at all. that is one downside to the POR over deluxe resorts but even with that we favor POR over the deluxes and I really do when you compare the savings :)

but to answer the question no there is not enough storage. :( we drive from TX to WDW so we have come up with either packing a suitcase per few days so you only pull one case at a time, when done we load it back into the car and grab the next.. or we were considering buying some of those plastic drawers on wheels and packing in those then wheeling it into the room. :)
:woohoo:

oh we are a family of five as well :)

Or you could buy the collapsible shelves from target/walmart they hang on the Clothes pole in the washroom area and you can put several days worth of clothes in them. Les than $15 each and they collapse down into a very small amount of space in a suitcase.

Check out my POR Must bring thread in my signature area! Its full of ideas of what most forget to bring maybe on the first trip but are prepared for on the next one!
