I will be using a scooter in wdw in the past i was allowed to drive my scooter into certain rides with my ga card. Has that all stopped. I cannot stand more than a few minutes or walk very far with my cane. I am reading that I need a das card and have to see a cm at each attraction for a time to come back and then backtrack.

If the attraction is not busy will the cm let me go right in, I am confused at all these changes.

If you are using a scooter, you don't need a DAS card. The only time you would need a DAS with a scooter is if you have issues that your scooter don't take care of. Just pull up to the ride and a CM will direct you where to go.

You probably will not need the DAS card. Most lines are WC accessible, and you can ride your scooter inline.

I was just in DL, not WDW. At DL, for the lines that are NOT WC accessible, they give you a return time = to the current standby wait time. This way, they spread out the WC guests, and do not have long lines at the exits or alternate entrances. If there is no line, or a very short standby line, they may let you ride right away.

For WDW, also make use of the FastPass+ for 3 rides per day.

Thanks so much, one more question if a ride will not take a scooter and i have to stand in line and walk, can one of the passes mentioned that can be obtained from a cm be during my actual fastpass plus timeframe.
Ex. my fast pass plus are all from 9 -10 10 -11 11-12 then lunch, will the cm be able to give me a pass in the 9 -12 timeperiod? I can do only half a day in a park, maybe one more after lunch then that is it for me for that day..

For any ride line that can't accommodate an ECV (Pirates, for example), a temporary loaner wheelchair is available. You can park the ECV in stroller parking.

::yes::
Guests using wheelchairs, ECVs or other mobility devices don't need DAS in most cases. The CM can see the mobility device and direct you where to go. But, at WDW, most lines are accessible, so you would just use the regular line (or Fastpass Plus line if you used one of your Fastpass Plus for that attraction).

At WDW, all attractions except Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, the attractions on Tom Sawyer Island are wheelchair and/or ECV accessible up to the boarding area; they are marked on park maps and signs at attractions with a wheelchair symbol or a stick figure getting out of a wheelchair.
The park maps (and signs in front of attractions) have an icon that shows if the line is ECV accessible or not. If the little stick figure is getting up from the ECV, it's not ECV accessible.
Before you park the ECV, let the CM at the ride entrance know that you will need to borrow an attraction wheelchair to use in line. They will direct you where to park and provide a wheelchair for you.

For WDW, there are only a few attractions that are not wheelchair accessible in the regular line and have separate accessible entrances. These are the ones that give a wheelchair return time card.

If it's not busy, they will not issue a wheelchair return card, but will let you right in to the accessible line. If you are using a Fastpass Plus, you should also be allowed right into line without getting a wheelchair return card.

Just to clarify - guests never needed a GAC (Guest Assistance Card) at WDW or DL just to use a scooter or wheelchair in lines/attractions. CMs could see the mobility device, including canes or crutches and direct the guest to the appropriate place.

Because some guests thought they did need a GAC, Guest Relations was pretty much giving GACs to anyone with a wheelchair or ECV who asked for one. Many of them had a wheelchair symbol stamp, which was actually meant to be used for guests without a visible need who could not do stairs or needed to use the accessible boarding area for some reason.
This was confusing for both guests and CMs - since many guests with wheelchairs/ECVs had GACs, some CMs asked anyone with a mobility device for a GAC. This was usually sorted out by asking for a lead, who would tell the CM that no GAC was needed. But, some guests went back to Guest Relations to get a GAC.

Sorry if this is answered and I did not understand. My mom can not do stairs so do we need to get a DAS card? She may use a evc if her pain is to bad but she really wants to walk as much as possible. We r waiting on a diagnosis of either MS are something else.

Thanks in advance
Amber

Just tell the CM at the entrance and they will route you appropriately. No card required. Stairs are @ TSMM, Splash, TT, SoAT (did I miss a couple?)

There is a list in a post on page 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread located near the top of this board (or follow the link in my signature).
