Wishes in Catsablanca: 7.22.13 Epcot Wedding PJ&TR! Updated 03/09/15

Omg, I never saw a wedding more beautiful than yours. You look so gorgeous and so happy! I can't wait to read the rest of your journal. Thanks for sharing all this with us! You really got me dreaming!
The theme alone is so great, but you did a wonderful job to make it your theme!

This is my absolute favorite blog. How wonderful. I think your DHS photos are amazing. I love the ToT terrace ones and I'm glad your shoot didn't get cancelled.

Nicole,

What can I say, your pictures are breathtaking. I really need to do an update as we fly out next week. Eek!

Love your Studios pictures! That's definitely a park you don't see often enough IMO. I'm so glad the rain didn't stop you from your ToT plans - the setting really does fit wonderfully with your theme and your attire.

I can't wait to see more!!

Thank you so much for your lovely compliments!

Thanks! The rain was a nuisance, but we got some suitably creepy, noir-ish photos.

Nicole,

Thank you, thank you! I am so excited for you! I'm over to your PJ right after this to comment on the latest update! :goodvibes

Thank you! As great as MK is, we couldn`t not do a DHS photoshoot because of ToT and it fit our theme.

Back in our room we packed up my wet dress and Bryan's wet suit and tucked into some more breakfast wedding cake. Still just as delicious and moist as the first day, unbelievable!

Today we had little bit of a different plan. We packed up all our wedding attire and took a taxi over to my parents room at the Caribbean Beach. We were going to have another day showing the family around, but this morning we were starting together and leaving from CBR. My parents had agreed to take home our wedding things, so that we wouldn't need to lug it all across the country on our honeymoon. We opted for taking a taxi to avoid a mess of bus transportation and crowds getting to CBR from GF with wedding dress in tow.

Groom Here:

We arrived at CBR at about 10:00 a.m. For better or worse, the rooms were in a particularly secluded part of Aruba that backed onto some trees, and beyond those trees, a ravenous horde of blood-sucking mosquitoes. Seriously, we've never had any problems with bug bites at WDW (even having stayed in CBR before) but within two minutes we were being eaten alive. It must be all the wet weather that summer. If the bugs were busy outside, in the rooms, our guests were not, as some were still in bed upon our arrival. While we were waiting for everyone to get ready, we got a chance to see the birthday arrangement we'd had delivered:

P7240540_zpsdfdd2765.jpg

Nicole's Aunt is from Portugal, and while Mickey Mouse is the most popular of the Fab Five in North America (not to mention the de facto leader of the group in communal endeavours such as band concerts and ghost hunting) in many parts of Europe, Donald Duck is the real Disney star.

We did get some bad news, though: the champagne we'd ordered for the previous evening's birthday dinner at The Wave had not, in fact, been delivered to the table. We tried calling the restaurant to sort it out, but couldn't get through, presumably because they were in the midst of the breakfast-time rush. In any case, we had to put that situation on the back burner and focus on the parks.

Our original plan was to spend the day at DHS due to its high concentration of must-do thrill rides, but we made a split-second decision to go to AK first. (Again we were constantly thinking about how to optimize everyone's time and tickets.)

P7250599_zps6b9b909a.jpg

As much as I love the theming in AK, the layout is a bit of nightmare to navigate. In any case, I grabbed the group's room keys and made a beeline for the Kilimanjaro Safari Fastpass booth while Nicole took the Thrillies to Expedition Everest. The line for EE at let's face it, almost 11:00am, was long and there was no way around waiting in it with a group of 5 hoping to ride together. While they waited for a single ride through, Ashley arrived late and managed to ride it three times via the single rider line. Nicole apparently occupied her time taking photos of all the Yeti related paraphernalia.

With plenty of time to kill, I took my fellow Queasies through the Maharaja jungle trek to see the tigers. Nicole's aunt loved getting up close with the majestic beauty of these rare creatures. Here's a picture of one pooping:

DSC_0329_zpsc82943fd.jpg

After scaling Everest, Nicole and BM Ashley volunteered to acquire Dinosaur! fastpassses while I took the group on a safari. On the way, we got predictably caught in another unpredictable rain storm. The Kilimanjaro Safari continued on after the rain broke, and the rain was a bit of a good luck in this instance, because the animals were cooled off and up and about at mid-day. It ended up being the most animal-saturated safaris I've ever been on, so I was glad Nicole's relatives were able to experience the attraction at its best.

Bride POV:

Meanwhile, as the main group were downpoured on over in Africa, Ashley and I were downpoured on over in Dinoland. We grabbed the FPs as fast as could and booked it into the terrace seating for Restaurantosaurus. Inside there was a CM preventing people from coming into the restaurant that way... no idea why? As we stood there wondering when the rain would dissipate, Goofy and Pluto ran in for cover along with their entourage and hangers-on and all hell broke loose! I deeply regret not getting a photo of this, but I'll do my best to paint a picture.

Not one second after they dashed under the terrace awning, Goofy and Pluto were immediately mobbed! Their CM handlers were shouting people back, grabbing chairs and tables and creating a line (i.e. barricade/trench!) to protect the characters as children and adults alike threw down their mac 'n cheese hotdogs and tossed aside their Coca-cola classic beverages in an autograph demanding craze! Civilization totally broke down at the Restaurantosaurus that day, and it was not inappropriate, I suppose, that it all happened in Dinoland. In the chaos of this character vs. human warzone, Ashley and I managed to sneak into the Restaurantosaurus proper and into the relative calm of the lunchtime rush.

Well, for a few minutes anyway. The rain appeared to let up so we ventured out; forever scarred by all we had seen.

Actually, despite the insanity, Ashley and I had a really nice time catching up, talking about non-wedding related things (for a change) and Disney! I can hardly imagine how it came up, but I told her I had heard about an awesome drink from the Disney Food Blog, the Triple Yeti Blast. And so began part two, a high-octane search through Asia for the legendary Yeti with both the growing crowds and time against us! It was actually a bit of a challenge to find, because I only had a vague recollection of where this one thing was sold. Still, we managed to beat the group! We got our Yeti Blasts and made it back to Dinosaur before everyone else! Success! Also Triple Yeti Blasts are delicious and I highly recommend them.

IMG_9745_zps4defe30d.jpg

Finally the group arrived and found us outside Dinosaur. Bryan was extremely soggy. His hat was completely ruined and his shirt was soaked through and muddy? Ruined. Anyway, we pulled out our FPs and got into our time-travel-mobiles for a prehistoric journey. Our group was so large they gave us our own ride car, which makes for a particularly awesome souvenir photo.

50068420223_zps2eea70f7.jpg

Groom POV:

Before leaving for DHS we stopped in at Disney Outfitters for one of the bare necessities. In this case, bare necessities meant a dry shirt, so I added yet another pie-eyed Mickey shirt to my wardrobe. For Nicole's Cousin Fil, it meant getting a legendary turkey leg. As many times as Nicole and I have been to Disney, we've never had a turkey leg before, and Fil offered me a bite right off the bone, which I greatly appreciated. Sure, it was tasty, but for me, it felt like a subtle way of saying I was part of the family.

399192_10151519271511752_144903645_n_zps28a26c92.jpg

Nicole's family was very apologetic about taking time away from our honeymoon to show them around Disney, and a few people we've talked to about it are surprised we'd spend any time with family, but in all honesty, it was the best thing we could have done. We were still able to spend plenty of time on our own, but what really made it worthwhile, for me, was the bonding experience it allowed us to have. Nicole's family has never been anything but friendly and welcoming, but at the end of their trip, it felt like I was truly a part of the family. For whom else would I have stood out in the pouring rain, ran from one side of Magic Kingdom to the other for fastpasses, and set aside a good chunk of our honeymoon? Family.

Hooray for Hollywood! Once we hit the ground on Hollywood Boulevard, I was off like a shot over to Tower of Terror while Nicole led the pack to the ABC Commissary for lunch. Nicole and I had the Asian salad, and were suitably impressed by it. (But too exhausted to photograph it!) Afterwards, Nicole took the Thrillies to a natural one-two punch of Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror, and I took the Queasies to a more docile duo of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and the American Idol Experience.

Bride POV:

I just have to interject here with a small comment. A popular complaint for people who attend WDW in the summer is the large number of Brazilian tour groups. To be totally honest they've never really bothered us. But that might be because DH and I usually travel on our own, we're pretty spritely and we make frequent use of the single-rider options. Well... when you're travelling in a group of nine, you cross paths with the tour groups a lot more. Ashley, who moved to All-Star Movies after the wedding, had a horrible story about how one group arrived back at the hotel around 1:00am and began knocking on all the doors and shouting in Portuguese. Not willing to suffer any of that in silence, Ashley got up and told them to "shut the heck up" in Portuguese, and they were so surprised by her, all of them immediately stopped and went to their rooms (tails between their legs). The lesson here is to learn enough Portuguese to tell other people to shut up. In fact, I'm sure this is the limit of most international diplomatic efforts worldwide.

Well, while standing in the Rockin' Rollercoaster line, the longest line of the day, I might add -- some 80 or 90 minutes -- a group came in right behind us and began chanting. Chanting and clapping and stomping. I had a few mutinous looks from the Thrillies, especially my dad, because 90 minutes in July humidity plus chanting is enough to make someone start throwing things. I was ready! Anyway... the good thing was Rockin' Rollercoaster was a huge hit, and I think everyone else forgot all about the annoyance of the tour group once they were raving about how awesome the ride had been.

50068420228_zps29f51f9a.jpg

50068420229_zps92ad90ff.jpg

And the best part was we got to walk onto ToT, thank you so much FPs!

IMG_9747_zpsb9307a43.jpg

Well, almost walk-on. I thought it was worth our while to request front row seats. So we waited one ride longer than necessary. But totally worth it.

50068420230_zps6a8e6f65.jpg

Groom POV:

We finished our family tour of Walt Disney World at Star Tours. (Huge, huge hit with everyone!) Afterwards, we had a touching, if slightly strange, goodbye with our wedding guests in the Tatooine Traders, and with that, our familial responsibilities were done with and our honeymoon group was now a more appropriate honeymoon duo.

We took a launch to Beach Club and strolled into the World Showcase for our reservation at Le Cellier. We were early, and for the first time we were told we wouldn't be able to check in with the restaurant before our reservation time. It did allow us to take in the Victoria Garden at the Canadian pavilion, which is quite nice and relatively peaceful. We tend to avoid the Canadian pavilion because, well, we get enough of it at home... in Canada. It's not very exotic.

I've seen it hotly debated on whether this structure is based on the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City or the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. They're pretty much the same... so you be the judge!

Le Cellier is not very exotic, either. It's a straight-up steakhouse, like you'd find in Montreal or Moosejaw or pretty much anywhere else. A lot of ink has been spilled about what makes the Canadian identity, and it's not a debate that will end any time soon, so perhaps you can say that Le Cellier is quintessentially Canadian because it has French, British and American culinary influences, and presents them in an inoffensive package.

But hey, the seating areas are divided up into provinces! We were in Alberta??? Our server really never explained what they meant.

IMG_9792_zpsf4e9ae6b.jpg

Welcome to beautiful Alberta...?

Canadian beer: a 750ml bottle (roughly two-thirds of a quart if you're using imperial measures) of Eau Benite ("Holy Water" en Francais") beer. It was not quite a religious experience, but still pretty darned good beer, and you can't exactly find it at the LCBO.

IMG_9794_zps11f7776c.jpg

I started with the famous cheddar beer soup, and it's justifiably famous. It's flavourful in a way that anyone who has it will enjoy it, and some people who have it will be obsessed with it--you can taste the sharp, salty cheddar, but the edge is taken off by the mellow beer. The pretzel bread is a perfect dipping vessel, so it's might very well be the best cheese soup or the best cheese dip you ever have.

IMG_9795_zpseefad827.jpg

Nicole's having a bit of a romance with pork belly right now. If there was a third wheel on our honeymoon, it was pork belly, because she couldn't resist ordering it when it was on a menu. Oh, that Third Wheel Legend... always in the way! This pork belly was very well braised, soft and smoky (it even came under a smoke dome, which is getting to be a bit of a belaboured trend) with the tomato jam underneath cutting through the heaviness.

IMG_9800_zpsfe93de10.jpg

We toyed with the idea of sharing a side of poutine to see how it would come out, but opted out. It would have been too much. It's true that traditional poutine is only made with cheese curds (because that's what some Quebecois farmer had lying around when he invented the dish) and some hosers will tell you that poutine isn't poutine without cheese curds, but I'll go for poutine with cheddar cheese because it's still French fries with gravy and cheese. So there. Don't be afraid of ordering your Le Cellier poutine with Black Diamond cheddar cheese. You're still getting a taste of the Great White North. It's worth noting, though, that Black Diamond cheese is a common supermarket brand in Canada, so for us it's about as exotic as the Cracker Barrel.

Mains! When I first met Nicole, she wasn't much of a steak person, but she's slowly coming around. She went for the signature filet mignon with mushroom risotto, and I went for a medium rib chop with fingerling potatoes. I don't usually order tenderloin and she doesn't usually go for the meatier cuts, but we found we each liked each other's better. The steaks are well-prepared--good crust, proper doneness--and of high quality, but not among the best steaks I've had.

IMG_9802_zps58a9d912.jpg

IMG_9805_zpsf5a77a76.jpg

I hate to say it, but the service wasn't great. Oh, the servers are friendly in an unassuming, Canadian sort of way, but it was downright disappointing for any Disney restaurant let alone a signature dining restaurant. For example, we wanted to take a doggy bag with us, and when we asked to have the food packed up, we were brought a box to do it ourselves. Is this unreasonable? I don't know, but I can tell you that this isn't the custom in Canada--it's the custom of restaurants with poor service worldwide.

We'd had a long day, and as much as it would have been cool to watch Illuminations while actually watching Illuminations, we bounced early and went back to the hotel. But there's always time for a few photopass stops along the way, right?

IMG_9814_zps212a39cd.jpg

I tried to call The Wave again to solve the mystery of disappearing champagne, but our room phone wasn't working. What a day!

Absolutely awesome TR. I'm sorry it was such a crazy day. I love Le Cellier, but I haven't been since it's become a Signature. I think it's great how much time you devoted to your families.

Such a busy day! Even so you guys still got a lot done :) What awesome safari luck, especially with first-timers! I have to admit, my first meal at Le Cellier was amazing, but DF and I were there about a year ago right when they switched to one menu all day (instead of a lunch and a dinner) and it definitely wasn't the same (and the price tag hurt!) Oh well, there are plenty of other restaurants to try!

Ok, just when I thought your wedding pictures couldn't possibly get any better than all the beautiful wedding pictures you'd shared with us so far...you go and post these AMAZING Hollywood Studios Pictures!!!!! WOW. Just WOW. With your vintage-style attire and overall looks, the backgrounds at Hollywood Studios could not have been any more perfect...and honestly the clouds and even the rain just seem to add to the vintage-y old hollywood glam feeling. Some of those ToT pics are breathtaking!!! You both look so amazing and the pictures really create a story. Thank you for sharing them with us!!

I have to say I've been pretty disappointed with the service at Le Cellier the last two times we have eaten there. I don't know if they've gotten overconfident because they're so popular or what, but they don't seem to try as hard to impress as they used to. Although there is no beating that soup, that is the BEST.

I love that the "divide and conquer" plan served to bond you all closer as a family...I really love that you ended up spending so much time with family those first few days. You created some amazing memories for ALL of you that will stay with you always...and the two of you have the rest of your lives to enjoy time together...I think the way you chose to start your lives together with family is really beautiful.

Loving this trip report!

Brooke

Your Hollywood Studios pictures are gorgeous! Seriously, the ToT is so creepy looking normally but you make it look stunning. What great shots.

You also got some good pictures of the animals in AK - I had to laugh out loud at the picture of that tiger pooping! What a moment.

And Le Cellier looks very good - I've never been there! Hopefully some day. Even if it was just for the beer cheese soup!!

Thank you! We definitely had a lot of fun with our families, it really made the trip special. As DH said while we were on our trip, we'll see Disney plenty of times just us, but this is the only time we are going to be here with my family. :goodvibes

We're definitely glad to check Le Cellier off our list (gotta try 'em all! :rotfl2:), but it was a little bit of a disappointment in the end. I wish we'd tried going on our first trip before all the signature and menu changes. Oh well! Maybe one day we'll give it another shot!

Thank you so much Brooke for your lovely comment! We are so happy with our DHS photos, they really were worth the extra hassle of getting up early yet another day. And I totally agree about the weather. It just feels so appropriate for the atmosphere I was trying to achieve.

We were very happy to spend the time with our families, and it's so true, we have our whole lives to spend just us--spending the time at WDW with our families was the best thing to do!

Our Wedding Video!!!

Well ladies, my apologizes for disappearing again! Things were a little hectic at the end of January with family get-togethers, and cleaning up after the holidays.

The past month has been hectic too, I have a new little nephew and I've been trying to catch up with a whole bunch of projects.

But here's a treat! We got a link to our Wedding video from Trinity! It was a long wait, but definitely worth it. We are very happy with how it turned out.

Disneymoon: Day 4

After two straight days of 3:00 a.m. wake up calls, getting up after sunrise felt like a luxury. (I suppose it is quite a luxury... That's a sobering thought.) We had our leftovers from the night before, but no microwave, so I grabbed the blow dryer and used it instead. I've heard of food stylists, but this is ridiculous! *Wah waaaaaaaahhhhhh* It really did the trick.

We were kind of confuzzled about what to do this day. We didn't have an ADR until dinnertime, so we just up and went back to Epcot for some eating around the world. We headed for The Land pavilion to grab some fastpasses for Soarin' and signed up for the Behind the Seeds tour. On the way out we ran into my parents and convinced them to go on the tour with us. While we waited for the tour to start, we dashed over to the Living Seas so Yeti could see some delicious fish.

If you've been on the Living with the Land boat tour as many times as I have, you're probably keen as mustard to see it from another perspective, so in spite of the extra cost, the Behind the Seeds tour is definitely worth it. The tour group of roughly twenty (a full group, apparently) mustered near the washrooms to the left of the Soarin' entrance. Once assembled, the guide took us through a side door (you can see it on the left just as you exit Soarin') to a backstage area and an indoor, air-conditioned lab. Our guide, Corbett, discussed the lab's research into invasive insects, and some of the ways they prevent the insects from destroying the crops. He then asked for volunteers to release some ladybugs into the greenhouse, which I volunteered to do. He handed me a small jar of dormant ladybugs. As my hands heated the jar, they began to wake up. Pretty neat stuff.

He then took us into the first greenhouse, which included squashnnuj7m running along a conveyor belt and a demonstration of DIY hydroponic growing methods. They make it sound and look so easy, and they even gave everyone handouts on how to do it at home, but we've yet to set up our own grow tank in our apartment.

While I've yet to have a chance to eat one, we'd heard tell of Mickey-shaped vegetables being served at certain Disney events, and we got a kick out of seeing the moulds used to shape them.

Our path to the last part of the greenhouse took us through the fishery, which included, amongst other things, baby alligators.

The last portion of the tour involved a "Guess the Spice" quiz. We backtracked through the other greenhouses and back to the Land pavillion.

The boat tour is fun, but it doesn't give you a good sense of the intricacy, care and patience they're putting into growing and maintaining these plants. Sure, there's an element of theatricality to it (it's still Disney) but they're really making food, and even as a kid, I felt like the work being done had importance and could impact our world for the better. It's not the most fun or exciting attraction at Epcot, but more than any other attraction it captures the spirit of Epcot as Walt Disney envisioned it.

After cashing in our Soarin' fastpasses, it was just a hair before noon, but that didn't stop us from moseying into La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico pavilion for some margueritas and the chips-and-three-dips package which included fresh-tasting guacamole, a slightly watery salsa and thick queso cheese dip.

Bride POV:

It was around this moment that we finally felt like we were on our honeymoon. It was just us, experiencing Disney at our own pace. We didn't have a plan, except to relax. Not unsurprisingly we spent the rest of our day out at Epcot browsing and snacking around the world.

Next stop Norway for ride through Norwegian fantasy and industry. Followed by a break for some traditional school lunch fare: skolebrød. It was our first time trying this much loved snack. Just as all the pictures show, school bread is kind of like a cakey donut with cream filling and coconut topping. It was tasty, but in all honesty it tasted a little stale. I've had similar desserts, there are a lot of desserts like this in Portuguese cuisine, I've even had something similar from a Korean bakery. And well, in conclusion, I guess we won't be joining the school bread fan club any time soon. But maybe there's room for a second taste test sometime in the future, just to be sure!

Next stop China! First time watching Reflections of China for me. I love the movies in World Showcase, they're always so gorgeous. Another first for me, was actually going into the shop in China: Yong Feng Shangdian Department Store. I admit, I had an ulterior motive. For our at-home reception I needed to get a red dress for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. I remembered reading in Carly's (of Magical Day Weddings) wedding trip report that she had got a Chinese dress for her own at-home reception at the China pavilion and I had plans to do much the same.

There weren't that many dresses in red, but I tried on a few and found one that would work with just a couple alterations on my part. Yay, success! And also wedding shopping during your honeymoon, how many can claim that!

Time for another snack? Sure! We decided to try the Doofenslurper . Well sort of... As it turns out they were out of "fruity foam" so what we essentially got was a frozen lemonade in a beaker. It was fun anyway!

Mitsokushi is just about our favourite place to shop in Disney, because of the high concentration of super-cute things that may or may not (but probably do) involve cats. Bryan bought a straw hat to replace the one that was sacrificed the rain gods the day before. It will feature prominently in a lot of the photos to come.

We couldn't resist these cute his and hers cat mugs. (I thought at the time, we have to! They match our cake topper kitties!) They were the last ones left in the store, so we got the display mugs.

I also bought a Kiki's Delivery Service notebook to record the observations that are now going into this TR. The cashier remarked that it was her favourite movie as she rang it through. Cute cats breaking down borders! Forging international ties!

It was hot, hot, hot, and we were all out of Doofenslurp, so we decided to go back to the hotel. On the way out, just had to do this:

It's a jolly honeymoon!

Bryan's parents (the "In-laws") were staying at the Contemporary (the "Contempo") and they invited us to visit them so we decided to take them up on it and sneak a peek at their newly-renovated room. Before going up, we dropped by The Wave to sort out this champagne business. We met with the manager, who was very apologetic. We'd paid for the champagne using Tables in Wonderland, and the manager insisted on refunding us the original price, I suppose we ended up making a few bucks on the whole thing, but I still would rather my aunt had champagne on her birthday.

We took the elevators upstairs, and were treated to a lovely room, very modern in an appropriately 50's way, but still very sleek and contemporary. Very nice!

After some more respite (and some reluctant packing) in our own room at Grand Floridian, we left for our last evening in WDW.
We made our way to Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's Royal Table in a very leisurely fashion. Strolling through shops, pin trading, etc. I got a box of the Beautify Disney makeup brushes, which are superb for the price.

And I spotted this little gem for the first time, I always love finding these things.

Groom POV:

Cinderella's Royal Table? More like Cinderella's Royal Fail, amirite? Seriously, this place was a real drag. An expensive time-waster of a drag. We didn't have a bad time the first time we went on our first trip to WDW, but this time made up our minds to never go to there again. It's clear that they have "seatings," no doubt to coincide with the princesses' schedule, so it was just our luck to get in at the tail end of the seating. This meant we checked in at our appointed time (and they would not let us in a millisecond before our appointed time!), but still had to wait in the lobby until out table was available. And when I say wait, I mean wait. It got to the point where we were the only people in the lobby. And when I say the only people, I mean the only people. Even the cast members had vacated and left us alone. And when I say alone... you get the idea.

... Alone.

This meant they gave us the first available table, which happened to be a six-top. Romantic, right?

The princesses were fine. Ariel was particularly talkative in an appealingly gawky sort of way. She was a very good Ariel, but she would (and probably does) make a cracking good Rapunzel. She sat down at our table, leaned on an arm and was chatting with us about why our table was so big. Indeed, Ariel!

According to Nicole's notes: Aurora was awful, Snow White was perfect and Jasmine was cool and relaxed.

Okay, food. We all know the big draw of CRT isn't its menu of culinary masterpieces, but this was definitely a low, low point.

IMG_9940_zps4ddc5a70.jpg

Sword-buttered bread to start.

To start I had the Crawfish and Rock Shrimp with Grits. This is the kind of dish that you will be hard pressed to find at any restaurant back home, and as such, the most interesting choice in the app section. The grits were gummy and bland, and despite being "different" it felt like a strange choice to offer at a royal dinner in a castle.

IMG_9920_zps9d48b18a.jpg

Nicole had the Strawberry and Feta salad, which she enjoyed. But let's face it, a salad like that is pretty hard to muck up.

IMG_9921_zps8c1f478a.jpg

For the main course, I ordered the seared cod with meyer lemon butter. It's more or less the dish I'd had three nights ago at Victoria and Albert's. Actually, it's less the dish I had at Victoria and Albert's. The sauce I could have drank up at V&A was little better than oily water, like someone splashed their water glass contents onto the plate on the way to the table. The cod was bland and the quinoa it supposedly came with was more or less nonexistent. As a garnish, quinoa makes the clear statement, "We couldn't afford caviar and neither can you."

IMG_9945_zps9c2fa6a0.jpg

Nicole went with vegetarian option of gnocchi and roasted vegetables. It was the superior dish of the two (not saying much) but it was way too oily. The dish was so big that it became a chore to eat so much food of the same texture. But the arugula was a wonderful accompaniment.

IMG_9943_zpse838edcf.jpg

By now most of the restaurant had cleared out and it looked like we had the whole castle to ourselves.

IMG_9946_zps47504ea5.jpg

For dessert, I had the s'more tart and Nicole ordered the signature dessert. They were both the same dessert, but the signature dessert was gussied up with screen printed white chocolate and a clock hand and face.

One last selfie for the road!

This was a pre-paid meal, as you guys probably know, but for whatever reason (they realized they'd given a honeymoon couple a table for six or they were making some Disney magic) the price of one of the meals was refunded to Nicole's credit card. We'll take it and we won't ask questions!

It was not yet 9:00pm by this point, so we rushed over to our usual Wishes viewing spot only to find it already jam packed! We've never seen it so full so early, so apparently word's out on our spot. Boo! We spent the next 30 minutes fighting the crowds trying to find a decent place, and eventually we found a place on the path to the Swan boat landing. It was a pretty good spot, but I think we were downwind from a smoking section, so it's not going to be our new favourite place anytime soon.

Around this time the Main Street Electrical Parade was first delayed 10 minutes and then outright cancelled. It seemed pretty odd, the weather was clear, it was a crowded Friday night. Even Tinkerbell flew that night! So we have no idea why it was cancelled, but it sure cleared out a lot of people.

Our last Wishes of the trip over, we hopped onto the boat back to GF and called it a night!

Next: So long WDW, Hello Port Canaveral and Disney Fantasy!

I know what you mean about trying all of WDW's restaurants - I'm determined to do this someday, but it's hard when you want to revisit old favorites!

I CANNOT WAIT to watch your video as soon as I'm home from work - we booked Trinity too!

I've actually never been on Living with the Land, but every time I see the Behind the Seeds tour I want to try the ride even more! Definitely will hit that one on our wedding trip.

There is nothing wrong with margaritas just before noon :thumbsup2

I love your red dress! It looks gorgeous on you and goes so well with your veil!

Oh Royal Table. Stinks that you had such a poor experience, and on your last night at WDW too!

Can't WAIT for your cruise portion, especially since we'll be going on the Fantasy in October!

Thank you so much for sharing your video! It is very beautiful and DF and I have a much better idea now of what to expect of a Disney wedding. Also it is so helpful to see not only the commercials of the vendors with their best moments or their best video, but the actual product.
And your trip report is really cool - I definitely try to do the Behind the Seeds tour myself! I'm sorry to hear about your bad experiences at Cinderella's Royal Table - especially on your honeymoon! Hopefully you had better dining experiences on your cruise???
I'm really keen on the next part (especially with the stunning preview of your at-home-reception).

For anyone who would like to watch:

So beautiful, Nicole!!!!! And ending with the dessert party and the fireworks was just perfect. Absolutely gorgeous.

You make me want to get a videographer. I think we're a little too far out though now money wise to even consider it. :( Plus, DF thinks we'll watch it once and never again. I would watch it every anniversary!
