(UPDT: 2/21) Losing The Glass Slippers to RUN like a Princess! Serial-PTRer report!

I so understand how you feel! I'm glad your knee is doing better. Sending pixiedust:that it gives you zero problems during the race!

I know you can pack Epsom salt in your checked luggage (just did that in January, I ran WDW full marathon), I haven't been brave enough to attempt taking it in my carry on. Oh, just had a thought and I apologize if you already know this, but someone gave me the tip before my 1st half (2006 WDW) and it was huge. Wear your running shoes on the plane and pack your running clothes and any running stuff you *have* to have in your carry on just in case something happens to your luggage. I have heard too many horror stories of people taking taxis to Target the night before the race to buy running clothes because luggage was lost or buying new running shoes at the Expo because they forgot to pack their running shoes. :scared: Talk about nightmare!!

I'm so excited for you! I want to run Princess so bad, but since we usually run marathon weekend in January, I can't really do both. Especially now that DS5 is in the kindergarten this year. I have no problems with him missing school for vacation, but a week in January and a week in February might not go over so well. Especially this year with the crazy weather and we've had 10 snow days!

:cool1: We are in the single digits!!!!!!!!!!! 9 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I took this of the girls today, it's so amazing how fast it's gone!

What has happened since my last update...I did my last long run, 10 miles on the treadmill, Saturday! My knee held up really well and feels almost totally normal after a few days more of rest!! :yay: I'm tapering now (cutting down on miles) and happy to do so as I'm just wanting to run the race now! I'm excited and scared and over-the-moon all at the same time right now. :dance3:

Eleanor is over for the last time before the trip. These girls crack me up! They are in Savannah's room with a clipboard and a PILE of clothing on the floor, planning out their outfits for each day! :rotfl2:

I'm mostly packed, I'm sure most of you are not surprised by this! :lmao: It's easy since all the clothes are summer clothes and it's been cold here! I've been stalking the Orlando weather and it's looking good. They had a few weeks of cold and wet but I see sunny warm weather in my future! :beach:

Just doing a lot of wrapping up stuff, I have the money for the trip set aside and I am working up until the night before we leave. It feels good to have all that in order and not stressing on it. :thumbsup2

We've had some unexpected stuff with Rey going on though, he was sent home with a non-passing D.O.T. physical for work (Dept. of Transportation requires a yearly physical for drivers) saying he has diabetes and his blood sugar has to come down before they will pass him. He has a Dr. appointment and has immediately started eating a low carb diet, which helped him in the past when he had a elevated blood sugar level. I'm trying to stay positive about it but taking it seriously.

I'll be back in a few days to post pictures of my completed costume for the race! :goodvibes

Shoot- I need to get back on facebook and remember to friend you so I can be up-to-date on your running accomplishments!!! I'm so excited for you...

I'm so happy you were able to do 10 miles with minimal hurts! That is awesome. And it only proves that YOU GOT THIS!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

My sister in law just registered for ToT 10miler and is bugging me to join her. But I think I have to pass this year. But it's so right in the forefront of my brain! Hahahaha!

So close, so close, SO CLOSE! The excitement! Woo!

WOO HOO

Single digits :cool1:

Glad you were able to run and your knee is feeling better.

That's so cute that girls are planning their outfits :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about Rey. Hope he can pass that test soon and diet helps:goodvibes

:cool1::cool1: for single digits!!!

:banana: for your knee not hurting after your last long run!!!

:yay::yay: for being in the taper!!! (oh how I love that point in training!!)

I can't wait to see your running costume.

I do also hope things turn out ok with Rey. One of the reasons I run like a made fool is because I am keeping my diabetes "at bay". I take a medication that helps to regulate my insulin..and run. I am lucky right now. I am sure there will come a day when I have to manage what I eat again. That is not at all fun counting grams of carbs. I hope that he can find a way to manage that doesn't consume his life (counting carbs consumed my life once...and I really hope to never have to do it again)

OH Karen, I'm sooo excited for you! It's just so darned close now!!! Aaaggggg!!!!!!

I'll throw some diabetes med Rey's way for you. So, what does he want? Insulin? Metformin? Victoza? I have it all!!! :rotfl:

The girls look so awesome planning their outfits!!! Victoria and Kali want to do a PlayList shopping trip. Maybe we will, but I'm not sure yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing your completed costume, so post already!!!

Oh man, I wish I could do ToT! It's a really busy weekend for my clients to be out of town but I LOVE the Villains and there look to be a lot there! (and it's only 10 instead of 13.1!) :lmao:

I'm hoping diet and some Metformin will help him. He's walking as well every day.

I think I like the taper too, I'm so tired, I feel like I've been training forever!

Ooooh, shopping trip!!

I'm going to do another update, since you are demanding it, but I don't have a ton to share! Ahem...I can ALWAYS find some photos though, unlike some people! ;)

:woohoo: FIVE DAYS!!!!! :woohoo:

It's funny, this morning I was posting on FB about how it was exactly a week from when I would be running the race and it kind of slipped my mind that I'm headed to Orlando in a mere 5 days!!!! It seems really surreal right now, I'm a bit in denial. I keep thinking I'm forgetting something or that I need to make a list but I'm unsure of what??? :confused3

Since Ann demanded that I post another update, I had to find some photos to share...cause that's how I roll. :p

Rey took some finished costume shots of me, you have pretty much seen this already, but I did at a cute little bird to my arm sleeve and you can see the back of my costume as well...

another few tidbits...here is what my bib will look like, well, it will have my bib number on the white part.

Here is a glimpse of the tech shirt I will get, it's grey.

and here is the course! 13.1 lovely miles!

I'm pretty much packed, it's been so cold here I haven't had to wait, I just packed my warm stuff that is not being used. We have some snack stuff to pick up and Savannah's Clariton-D, but we already have all our mini-travel sized toiletries and items packed.

What am I forgetting?

Friday morning, very very very early, Rey will drive us into St. Louis airport. It takes about an hour and 45 minutes, so we'll be leaving here around 4am. I want to be at the airport at 6am to get through security and then get some Starbucks! ;) Our flight leaves at 7:35 and arrives in Orlando at 10:55am! :dance3:

5 more sleeps!!!...or half sleeps b/c I'm most likely going to be too excited to sleep much this week! :cool1:

Very, very nice update Karen. I can't believe it's only 5 days away. I love the little birdie touch on your sleeve. Very cute!!! I can't imagine walking all that way let alone running it!!! I am so proud of you and your accomplishments!

It must be nice to have Rey home for a little bit, even though it's medically related. He'll be all fixed up soon and will be back at work. It's nice to be all packed, huh? Just like you, my warm clothes are already packed as well as the toiletries, etc. I am taking Victoria and Kali to the mall tomorrow for a Playlist shopping spree. Ok, well maybe not a spree, but for a couple of outfits. It's supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow (first day in forever!) so off we go to Portland. Peter has to work, so another girl day for us!!! OH, we had to cancel Victoria's party for today due to the (&&*^^^ snow!!!! It's rescheduled for next Saturday. I'd invite you guys, but alas, you'll be somewhere warm!! I should clean my house today....nothing else to really do and it desperately needs it. Peter just got called in for a service call! Ugh!! I really hate his job!! :rolleyes2

Your costume is just adorable! That skirt looks like it would be easy to run in yet is TOTALLY princessy! Love the bird too!

I can't wait to hear about how the race goes!!! I am soooo jealous! I swear I am going to run it next year!

Early morning flights when you live far from the airport are just not a lot of fun. I really hope you get caught up on sleep after your flight and before the race. Are you an hour behind Orlando time? I am three... and (spoiler if you are reading my TR) I never got caught up before the race. It made for a VERY hard race. Take my advice.... sleep once you get to orlando! I know it will be hard cause you will be in the world, but am I correct in thinking you have 2 nights in WDW before you have the race? So night before the flight no sleep... then a good night sleep and then basically again no sleep. REALLY take advantage of that night in between to get caught up. (I hope you have that night in between)

Other than that... good luck and HAVE FUN!!!!

I didn't know you were doing a report!!! *runs to start reading it!*

Yes, we fly in Friday, so I will be able to sleep Friday night. I'm VERY used to getting little sleep, I just don't sleep much. I also wake up at around 3am on a normal day, so that should help me...but I am an hour behind, so it will still be early for me! :thumbsup2

I love your running outfit, it's very cute! And I love that your 10 miler went so well. I can't wait to read your race report!

Love the completed outfit & the bird!

4 sleeps now. FOUR SLEEPS.

So exciting!

I also really like the tech shirt they are handing out- I like it better than the Wine and Dine one.

Looks like your area is getting ice today (we are getting more massive snow). Stay safe!

I'm coming in Thursday and doing the expo and luau at the poly. I'm staying at the contemporary. So excited 3 more night night sleeps!!!!

We are lucky this morning and did not get the ice, although it looks like STL did! I have been watching the weather like a hawk, it looks like we're clear for takeoff Friday morning!!!

I am in complete denial-mode, can't get it through my brain that we leave in FOUR days! I keep saying it over and over but it doesn't click!

Yay! There is a runner's meetup at The Poly as well on Friday afternoon! It's the #runnerslove meetup, you can find more info on facebook! :thumbsup2

Glad you made it over to my TR.

Sounds like you are set for your race!!! Me... I wish I would have considered my sleep schedule a tad more. :rolleyes1

Aw.. Love the little birdie you added to your outfit. So cute!!

Love the bib and shirt

so exciting!!!!

Are the girls bouncing off the wall with excitement? :cool1:

I'm worried most about hydration. I drink a LOT of water normally (before/after runs) but when I'm in WDW I tend to drink a lot of diet coke. I'm going to have to make sure I'm drinking enough water before the race!

Savannah is nervous, of all things! It's been a couple years since we have taken a long trip, our last trip was just 3 days. She's worried about being away from home for a week! We haven't seen Eleanor, she's trying to spend a lot of time with her family, she gets home sick easily...I'm hoping both the girls are having such a great time they don't freak out and get horrible home sickness while we are gone!
