...are no longer accepted at Disneyland Resort. We found this out the hard way.:rolleyes1 I am a pretty avid reader of this board (not just the FP+ threads) and I haven't read anything that stated that has changed. It's still posted on Mousesavers that WDW tickets are valid at DLR.

We had used our NE Park Hoppers at DL on trips past and had planned on doing the same this past week. Wrong. Thankfully I had the foresight to ask a CM at GR the day we arrived and before our first morning in the parks. He explained to me that WDW tickets were never accepted at DL and was insistent about it. OK...well I have done it multiple trips, but OK.

Knowing the track record/accuracy of CM information, I press on to the Concierge at our resort. She insists that the tickets are good and that we just need to enter the parks like normal. On past trips we would show up at the gates and they would take our WDW tickets and disappear...then come back with new tickets that were printed to look like DLR tickets (no mag strip). She insisted that DLR never did that. OK...well they did do it on multiple trips, but OK.

Not satisfied, I insist that we walk over to the gates to get yet another answer, so off we go. I find a CM outside the gates directing guest traffic and ask him about tickets. He informs me that they no longer accept WDW tickets at all. Uhhhhh.....

Surely THIS guy can't be right!? So off we go to the GR/Ticket Sales building outside the gates. Sure enough....a delightful, older CM asks to see our tickets and explains to us that they suddenly stopped accepting all tickets from WDW. She told us that they stopped accepting them sometime at the end of November/beginning of December. She explained that there was no announcement why and nothing was published for the public. She felt bad for us but was more than willing to sell us tickets for the week. :headache:

So yeah....the Mouse sucker punched me one last time for good measure. Karma. But we had one more for him, too. We started to pull FPs like they were money. These are just the ones we brought home from the first two days of our trip. We just pretended they were $20s. We were getting our money back....

I wonder if they were anticipating people jumping ship from WDW to DL? Can't have that happening, now can we?

There was a period of time last year when DL did not accept WDW tickets.
It was due to not having RFID readers at DL to read the new WDW RFID tickets.
(The printed numbers were of no use for this purpose… I don't know why.)

Then, after a couple of months, DL was accepting the WDW tickets again.

I don't know if your experience is, in fact, a new policy, or if it was the policy of the CM's you happened to encounter.

As we all know, things slip one way and the other according to which CM's you happen upon.

Best evidence is your account:

So, we'll keep an eye out for other reports as the seasons roll by as to
which "policy" is in place on which month. ;)

BTW, I'd want super DISboarder and WDW ticket CM Cheshire Figment to weigh in on this, but he has been absent from the DISboards for over a a month and a half!!

Hope all is well with Mike.

(The forum's very useful Ticket Sticky is his creation and is updated by him.)

Missing CF as well. There is no better source for WDW ticket info.

We had one of each type of ticket...one traditional ticket and one RFID ticket. On the one day we visited during our week long trip to Orlando in September my wife's ticket miraculously poofed out and they made her convert it to RFID.

Neither type of ticket was being accepted during our week. I tried four separate versions of CMs in order to get an acceptable answer. One wouldn't think they would have to do that...at least I tried. :)

YIKES! I wish I had known you were planning to use WDW tickets. I would have warned you that there have been issues with it since the changeover to RFID. I had actually considered buying WDW tickets for the express purpose of staying longer than 5 days, but just didn't want to risk it.

I wonder if Universal will take those WDW tickets? :lmao:

Karma also came into play when we saw their version of the Frozen M&G with Anna and Elsa in Fantasyland. They not only had Olaf who came to "life", but the line was like 20 minutes long. ;)

You did get lucky on that count. We waited 90 minutes in early December and while their line doesn't reach 4 or 5 hours like the one in Norway, it is typically at least an hour.

BIG time karma! :thumbsup2

I was one of the people who first reported the "No RFID WDW tickets accepted at DL" back in early July 2013. I reported it here on Disboards and to Mary at Mousesavers. Mousesavers did update their website with the new information. At that time the old paper/tyvek WDW tickets were still being accepted at DL. Too bad I had converted my 10 day no expire paper tickets to RFID at WDW the month before!

Since then, people on the Disboards DL forum have reported that in late November, early December of 2013 DL stopped taking any WDW tickets (RFID, paper, tyvek or otherwise). Mousesavers updated their site with this new info in mid December.

I am so sorry you got caught by this unexpected policy change like I did. When it happened to me it felt like I'd been punched in the gut. I still love Disneyland & California Adventure though!

Cheshire Figment was very helpful figuring all this stuff out back in July. He was actually in Anaheim for a conference and met with some DL ticket folks to get the real scoop. CF - I hope you are doing well. I also noticed that you've been missing from the boards lately. Come back soon!

We were so stupid when we went to DLR November. It was before the movie was even out and the lines for the meet and greet were so small. However, the kiddo hadn't seen Frozen yet and didn't care about the characters at all so we didn't bother to visit them. Of course now the kiddo has seen the movie and I'm sure when we visit WDW in September she'll want to wait in line and it will take forever. Yeesh. If we had only known it was going to be so popular.

And then they stopped. That's what the DLR board has said for a bit now. It's sad.

I missed what any of this has to do with karma.

Right there with you. None of it has any karma involved as far as I can tell. I'm not Buddhist but I live with two and my mom was a funky Christian/Buddhist hybrid so I would think I'd be able to figure it out....

Maybe that I had to pay the Mouse an extra $600+ that I didn't expect to have to pay. Me...being anti-WDW with FP+ and going to DLR this time because of it.

Perhaps I should have titled it, Payback is a B****?:scratchin

Edit...I changed the title for the Karma police.

It is true that Disneyland is no longer accepting DW tickets. They stopped in November, but there was no official announcement because it was never an official policy.

There was a thread on the DL board where people were reporting they couldn't use their DW tickets back in November and December.

I wish I would have read that thread so I would have known. :( It obviously wasn't the end of the world but I did feel karma played a role (the principle of causality where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual - for the Buddhist among us).

I'm making fun of myself for those at home that don't get it. ;)

Well that just makes me sad. It seems more unfortunate, or AlanisMorrissette's version of irony to me. Here you're off to Anaheim to run away from WDW's stuff, and you're punished financially for it.

I really really hate that the CMs acted like it (using the tickets at DLR) had never happened. That would have driven me a bit over the edge, though I would have kept it inside, of course.

Now that you mention it....I did find a black fly in my Chardonnay.

Oh, I did behave professionally and courteous to them. Honestly...that is why I described the final CM to explain the situation to us as "delightful". Marie was very understanding and sympathetic to our plight. I made it a point to mention her and her demeanor when we visited GR at City Hall when we got inside. She did nothing wrong and I never implied that.

Now the other two Yahoos at our resort are a different story....although I didn't make a scene, I just knew they were wrong (which they very much were).
