Discovering A Whole New World of Disney-An October 2013 Photo Safari **Updated 2/20

Oh, you made characterpalooza! We missed it last time but have made it once. I can't wait to see your shots from that. Hope you are having a wonderful trip!

Joining your thread. I love your pictures. Just on page 6 but will catch up.

Thanks for the beautiful photos. Have you taken pictures of all the snow you have gotten?

Today's update will be about all things Belle and the Beast. On a side note, how is it that we never find out what the Beast's actual name is in the movie?? I guess they were staying consistent with "The Prince." :

I don't know if this is of interest to you or not but the Beast's name is Adam. The only reason I know this is that we recently stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Room and they have banners with shadow casts of each of the Princes on them. By process of deduction, since we know every other Princes name, and by his silloutte, I was able to deduce the Beast's real name is Prince Adam! It was very excited and realized that i'd never really thought about how weird it is that you never learn his name!

Awwww! What a view! And so adorable that the kids are so excited. Hope your weather outlook improves! I'm having another snowstorm right now, does that make you feel better? Lol

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I never got tired of that view. Even late at night it was just beautiful. Our weather didn't improve for most of the duration of our stay but it was a non-factor because everyone had a wonderful time!

Love it! Especially your early risers! Training them well for rope drop!!

I had this master plan where I was going to get early and bring back some breakfast to the room so everyone else could sleep in a bit. Clearly that was never needed for this trip. :goodvibes

Beautiful balcony view! I hope y'all have an amazing trip!!

Awesome view. Hope ya'll have a great time and stay dry!

We had an absolutely magical trip! Can't wait to start telling you all about it!

It's better then Christmas morning. Be glad they slept till 5am. I'm right with them no better way to start a day then Peter Pan. Have fun!!

You're totally right! Our kids usually don't wake up that early on Christmas morning! :lmao:

Great teaser photos Dave!! I love the midnight shot from your room at AKL.

I hope you are having a great time and building some awesome memories. :thumbsup2

Thanks Brenda! We made a lot of magical memories!

I'll tell you more about Characterpalooza in my next trip report but it was one of my favorite experiences from this trip. Mulan was just unbelievably attentive to both of our kids!

Welcome and thank you for joining!!

I haven't had a chance to take any scenic photos of the snow yet but I have a suspicion that I'll get plenty more chances this winter. ;)

That's a great piece of trivia! Thanks for sharing! Male characters tend to get the short end when it comes to names, don't they? :rotfl: Sort of like "The Prince".

Hi Everyone! We made it back to the real world on Sunday evening. I had a buffer day to recuperate and deal with Disney withdrawal issues but now I'm back at work.

We had such a wonderful time! I can also say that I succeeded in my mission of changing my brother's mind about Disney. No, he's still not a fanatic like I am. But he did have a great time and on multiple occasions uttered the phrase "Wow, this was not at all what I was expecting from Disney"

We had a lot of first time experiences as well and I can't wait to start telling you about them. I've started going through my pictures and am typing up the TR as fast as I can on my laptop before things start fading out of memory.

We also became experts at putting on and taking off ponchos. Yes, it rained pretty much the whole time we were there but we got used to it pretty fast and didn't dampen our fun at all!

I should be able to finish this TR up in a couple of weeks. Then I can start the new one. I just don't have the discipline to maintain two TRs in my head. :rotfl:

Normally I would say sorry to hear about all the poncho experience you got, but with what most of us have dealt with this past week/ this week I would trade you weather. (Would change you places but that has nothing to do with weather.)
Glad your brother understands Disney. Can't wait to hear about your trip. I love cloud pictures and I have a feeling yours won't disappoint!
Where I don't always stay caught up I really enjoy your reports!!

Dave,
Glad you are home safely. I always hate the real world of going back to work after a Disney trip!!
My goal of 3 days off was to get Mom's 3 MD appts behind me, get the dirty clothes caught up and finish reading your trip report.
Day 2 off by 11am has most of the clothes washed, 2 or 3 MD appts done, and I am finished reading your trip report!!! Not too shabby I'd say.

You have me wanting to find my memory card from my cruise last Christmas and finish my trip report. I also want to get the camera out and take some pictures and get better with my dslr camera.:thumbsup2

Cant wait to finish reading this trip report and hear about your January tripl We are taking a trip next Jan maybe for my 50th birthday.:cool1::cool1:

Thanks again for continuing to follow this TR! We're almost at the finish line with an update coming up next!

My photography for this trip was not as great as last time mostly because of the weather. Most of my shots come from indoor or covered areas ;)

We love taking trips in January because of the low crowds. Will have to skip next January as we will be going with my inlaws in June of 2015. :goodvibes

Well, it's time to get back on the wagon again and get this trip report finished! I'm sure most of you will agree that the first week after coming back from a Disney trip can feel like a big drag as you re-insert yourself back to reality. But I think I'm over that hurdle now and ready to start spending some time on the DIS again. I've got just 3-4 more updates remaining on this one. Then I'll start up the new TR from last week.

The next two posts is about Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade! It's somewhat refreshing to see a Disney show or a parade that doesn't include the words dreams, wishes, or magic, isn't it? ;)

My family loves this one. The costumes and the floats are so creatively done. The colors are always so vibrant and the whole theme just perfectly fits in with the atmosphere of Animal Kingdom. I suspect that as we get closer to James Cameron Land being completed that this parade will be discontinued. But until then we will take every opportunity to watch it!

I made a special trip to AK just to watch this parade on my way from the convention center to MNSSHP. Oh, that and some BBQ at Flame Tree. I found a spot near the entrance to Dinoland. Wasn't too long before the music started!

I think the CMs in this parade has the best hats!

The giraffe is my favorite. I love how the CM can interact with the guests by lowering the head of the giraffe down.

Some of the CMs on stilts I recognized from the FotLK!

The details on the vehicles for the characters are very amusing.

Continued in next post - I'll try to get to it by tomorrow!

Welcome back to posting! I'm so glad that once you finish this story, there's another waiting right behind it to be told. :thumbsup2

I also love the AK parade, it's really well done (and you're right... it is a little refreshing to not see the words Dream and Magic and Wishes... :rotfl: )

I can't get over how good the CMs are at maneuvering the floats, especially the giraffe. I always think they're going to bonk someone on the head... but they never do!

Incredible photos of the parade, of course! I'm loving looking over them again and again. Fantastic colours and as always, so sharp! Wait until you see mine... you might be surprised to hear they're all done with my phone! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Welcome home! Wishing you a quick recovery for your post-Disney withdrawals. Good thing October is only 8 months away!

James Cameron Land...hahahahahahaaa!!

That shot with the giraffe and the sunlight through the trees is great!

I'm not only excited to finish reading this TR, but to hear about your most recent trip as well!

Haha, I actually prefer dreams, wishes and magic, lol, but "Celebrate" seems to be used to the point of confusion.

It's funny, but this parade is easily my least favourite. Of course, I'm not a huge parade fan anyway, but for me this is very meh. But of course, I STILL love your photos of it.

Thanks Wendy!

I hear you about maneuvering some of those floats and animals. I discovered for the first first time that the chameleon or lizard one can shoot its tongue out at the guests on my our trip last week!

Thanks Emily! Yep, I reset my Disney Countdown on my phone and it says 265 days to go. ;)

Totally right about "Celebrate" :good vibes

I'm curious what the night time parade is going to look like once the expansion at AK is completed.

What??! You can’t write two TR’s at the same time?? Just kidding…I can barely read two at a time, much less write two. :rotfl::rotfl2:

Heck I haven’t even written one because I don’t think I could keep up with all the replies. This just gives us time to savor each trip.

Awesome pictures of the Jammin Jungle Parade! I am amazed every single time I look at your pictures at how crisp the colors are! Bravo! :worship:

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I don't know why but coming back from this past trip and trying to jump back into DIS has been extra challenging. But I think I'm slowly starting to get ready to start up my next trip report.

Ok, time to finish up the Jungle Parade update!

These set of dancing CMs had an extra dose of pep in their steps.

This was the truck carrying Goofy

And Goofy came prepared. Look at the flotation device! And a water bag that has both cold AND hot water!

Timon looks like he's having a blast!

I'll give you one guess who this truck belongs to. ;)

They have so many Grand Marshals on this parade. I still don't understand how we've never been picked yet. :rotfl: Do you see the hidden mickey made of headlights?

Had a great time as always watching the parade. Then it was time bolt out of there to get to MNSSHP!

Welcome back! I can't wait to read all about your trip! I know you had to be happy to be back in WDW with the kids again. :goodvibes

We saw the Jammin Jungle Parade for the first time in 2012, and really loved it! The colors, the music, the characters...it's really energetic & fun. Unfortunately, I didn't find time to fit it into our 2013 trip, but I can look through your awesome pictures & pretend I was there. ::yes:: I totally agree with you about all the grand marshals in that parade! It's kind of amazing that everyone who has ever entered AK hasn't had the opportunity yet. :rotfl:

Goofy's truck is adorable! I've never noticed the supplies on the back!
I love Donald's float with the duck bill on the front.
I love, love, love your parade pictures. They're gorgeous! So much colour in that parade!

Glad you had a great trip - looking forward to that report!

In the meantime, great AK parade photos! What a colorful, energetic parade! We always seems to miss this, and your photos make you feel like you are right there watching! popcorn::

You know Dave, I really realize looking at your photos how much care Disney puts into everything. You need still photos just to be able to study all the little details that are so easy to miss when the parade is passing by.

They do have an awful lot of "Marshals" in this parade. :confused3

I do agree that the costumes and floats are beautiful. I guess I just find everything to be so similar and that's why I don't have a huge love for this parade? But it is unique, I'll give it that.
