One of my favorite spots to visit on the island is a resting spot that's placed directly across the lake from Big Thunder Mountain. They have a couple of rocking chairs and you can watch the roller coaster go through over and over until your heart's content.
I also tried a couple of shots with my telephoto zoom lens on from this spot when one of the trains raced through this part of the tracks.
I might be motivated enough for this upcoming trip to position myself here while the rest of my traveling party goes on Big Thunder Mountain to grab a great on-ride shot.
As I was finishing up my photo shoot from this spot, the Liberty Belle happen to pass by. My favorite shot from TSI.
I haven't been in the tree house in ages I really am too lazy because I don't want to have to carry a 2 year old up and/or down!! Very cool! So your second ride in the jungle cruise soooo worth those pictures with the light/mist!! The picture of the Liberty Belle with BTMRR in the background - completely awesome! You know if your current career choice falls through you could definitely be a Disney Parks advertising photographer!!!
Your trip is sooo close! I'm glad you were able to sneak in another update!!
Awesome jungle shots!!
Love the idea of the on-ride shot from Tom Sawyer. I think BTMR is getting a ride photo added soon, but it wont be as cool as that view.
I love that spot on the island. It's the perfect vantage point from some not commonly seen pictures. I also love the close up. It's perfect!
I think if I was a kid I would absolutely LOVE to visit TSI. All those little pathways and bridges. Totally fun for a kid.
Glad you took a second ride on JC. It's so frustrating when you get seated in a place where you can't take pics.
I think I'm the opposite in that I've walked up the Treehouse once since I was a kid. But yeah, when I was a kid, try and keep me away. Who wouldn't want to live there when you're a kid?
Wow Dave, that falls shot is spectacular. So glad you braved another go.
Also great shot of the Haunted Mansion Grave Digger getting "the point" that the jungle does not take kindly to moonlighters.
Now Tom Sawyer Island is one thing I haven't done since I was a kid. I must make time for it some day. In fact, there's a small rumor floating about it's removal.
And Dave, if this is your last post before your trip, I wish you a wonderful and magical time with lots and lots of photos ops. If it's not, then I'll just say this again later.
Great update!
Got one more update coming tonight before we head out to Disney in 3 days!!
Just had to post this. Something SAT887 found for me Have a great Saturday everyone!
Great shots in the treehouse! Swiss Family Robinson was on TV the other day and I DVR'ed it so the girls could watch it. I miss those type of Disney movies, non-animated but something the kids can watch.
Cool pictures from TS island. I haven't been over there in years. We always say we are going to take the girls but then time gets in the way and there are rides to be ridden. We did ride the Liberty Belle this last trip for the first time in eons!
Have fun on your trip. We're all looking forward to the photographic souvenirs you bring back for us!
Christine
She definitely got that one right!
I'm glad that you had a chance to take a step back and do some of the slow, leisurely, easy to overlook attractions. I really need to get back to the treehouse sometime soon. I love the views from the top, but I haven't been on it since probably the 90's.
I love the pictures of Big Thunder from Tom Sawyer's island.
I'm sorry I fell way behind. First, awesome pics of FotLK. Second, great job getting that trip for oct 2014 set. I could really learn a thing or two from you. After what I have read it seems like you do a lot of trips outside of Disney. Third, I made it threw before you left on next trip. Have fun with your family. Four, I can't wait to see more of this trip and maybe some of next trip.
Have a fantastic trip!!!
Have fun!! Hopefully you're checking into AKL by now!
