"Witty Trip Report Title" 2 --Bigger, Longer, Uncut

We woke up around 7 and the view from the window was pretty depressing. It was very cloudy, very windy, and occasionally some rain flew around. This sadly became a trend.

After a trip to cove cafe we stopped by Cabanas for breakfast.

While themed a little differently it is very familiar to anyone who has been on the Dream class ships. It seemed to work very well throughout the cruise and the staff was very actively reminding people that it wasn't a big line but rather separate stations.

The cruise director made some morning announcements and broke the sad news that the weather wasn't going to get much better any time soon. A big cold spell was hitting most of the country. At 9 a.m. NYC: 5 degrees Orlando: 35 degrees Nassau Bahamas: 66 degrees. So, you know, silver lining.

We decided to try out the hot tubs but the wind was so bad that the warm water couldn't make up for the pain our faces were feeling so we retreated inside.

This is the view of Atlantis as we pulled up...not quite like the commercials.

We had no plans for the day other than explore the ship and get off just to buy a bottle of rum to keep in our room.

We had a great lunch in Cabanas. I'll spare you the pictures of overflowing plates of food... But this was dessert.

The trip into Nassau was uneventful. We got caught in rain on our way back to the ship and a fairly long line to get onto the pier. There were 5 ships in port and only 1 guy checking ship passes.

Then we wandered...

Joining in! Awesome report so far, I adore the Magic! I know you said Photobucket was compromising your photos, might I recommend Flickr? It will preserve your photo quality and also allows unlimited views of your photos. Unless you pay for Photobucket, after a while it will stop displaying your photos on here because too many people have looked at them. Just some advice b/c I know how painful it is to have to reload all my photos! ;)

Great trip report! I have to agree with you about O'Gills. Unfortunately we didn't have much time to go there but I really enjoyed it. I'd love to take a longer cruise on the Magic just to hang out there.

ne of them was the Robert Redford movie "All is Lost". It's a "castaway" style survival film about him being stuck on a raft in the ocean after his sailboat sinks... What an odd movie to play on a cruise ship. I think we saw the whole thing eventually, although totally out of order.

I have to laugh about this. My fiance and I would always comment on this movie whenever we flipped past it. At first we were completely confused, like, what the heck movie is this? We'd never heard of it before. We'd watch it for a few minutes and then I'd have to change the channel because it made me so impatient, lol. I remember saying something like, why don't they just show Titanic? :P Anyway, while driving home I made my fiance to go the Wikipedia article and read it out loud because this movie perplexed me so.

Nice start to your review. I enjoyed reading your previous review.

Quick question, do you think the dog was brought out -cause you were late? For some reason it never occured to me that they had dogs sniffing the luggage lol.

TIA.

Thanks, I gave this a try and you are right it is light years better. Thanks!

Not really sure, I did have a small rolling bag. I would assume the dog is probably kept busy sniffing all the checked bags during the day, but since that was done maybe they felt like giving us the extra pat down.
A relative of ours also brought up a good point that two people rushing on at the last minute would actually be an ideal time to try and sneak something by so they probably think of that too.

One of our favorite things about the after hours district is that as you walk along this hall that leads you to the venues there is a very bouncy electro soundtrack playing that we couldn't help but dance along too. It's total background music but very fun. I recognized one of the tracks as an old Daft Punk song called "Voyager". If you listen to that it will give you a good idea of the vibe.

Just finished up your last review and can't wait to see more of this one. Your reviews are easy to read and informative. Nice photos too. Thanks for sharing!

great report so far, we just booked a short 3 night on the Magic in April, making me look forward to getting on again:cool1:

Really enjoyed your last report and looking forward to this one! Man, I was stressed out for you reading of your arrival day. I am really impressed with DCLs customer service. Amazing!

We have done the Dream and will do the Magic next year so I am looking forward to your thoughts on the difference between the two classes. Did the Magic seem significantly smaller to you? Excited to check it all out!

I'm in. :thumbsup2

I picked all my nail polish off reading about the delay. I can't even imagine what a wreck I'd be. :scared:

Glad you made and received such amazing service from Disney.

We were staying in room 7122.

It had a Navigator's Verandah. We normally book a full verandah but thought this would be fun to try. It definitely has it's pros and cons. The obvious con being the view is much less, and it can feel a little cramped. On the flip side it is very private, there is no worrying the child next door is going to look around the wall and see you. Also on this cruise in particular it offered quite a bit of sanctuary from the elements, wind specifically.

Worth noting that when movies were playing on funnel vision it was very loud on our verandah. We could easily identify what was playing.

They did a lot of work on this ship and the new areas do look very nice and I realize that this is being pretty picky but some things do look a little sad when you look closer.

I was also really disappointed to find out these didn't actually work.

There is also something about the outside decks that we thought smelled faintly of pee that I couldn't quite figure out. It was more faint, but still present on our verandah which leads me to think its something about the way they are sealed. We felt the need to wear sandals on the verandah.

We noticed a lot of other parts of the ship smelling a little too. Our room had a bit of a motel smell to it when we would first walking in.

It wasn't raining too hard but the upper decks tended to pool pretty easily.

Love the size of the pool on the classic ships, they get way more sun than the Dream class too.

We were in Animator's Palate for dinner.

I love the classic dinner show. All night long I would notice out of the corner of my eye as drawings would slowly become more complex and start to move. Even though I knew what was going to happen we were all locked in conversation so much that it all still felt magical because we weren't "watching" it.

We have no idea what we ate but it was a delightful evening. Once again we retired early for the evening. We fell asleep with our fingers crossed that the weather would be in our favor as we pulled into Castaway Cay in the morning.

Oh my goodness.... :crazy2: Your TR so far has me SO stress out!!! Ha ha! Thank goodness you made it onboard! Whew!

Off to read the rest..... :dance3:

I love your TR so far! I love the balance of pictures with commentary. I'm like a kid. I don't want to just read. I like pictures too. Your TR keeps me interested. I even went back and read your review from last year. Loved it! I'll be on the Fantasy in Nov with my husband and teenager. I keep thinking that this will be our last Disney cruise since he's getting older, but you have me considering even going without the kiddo.

Awesome TR...thanks for sharing.. Would've loved to share a table with both of you..you seem such awesome people, you make a lovely couple and I wish you all the love and success and, of course, many many more DCL voyages together... Cheers..

Yeah it feels smaller but that's not always a bad thing. We were able to get anywhere super fast. When we would go out to "explore the ship" it wouldn't take too long. The Magic is the Disneyland to the Dream's Disneyworld. Sure it's smaller but it's so darned easy to get around.
