Welcome Rochelle (LOVE your name!) - Looking forward to "meeting" you and your family! :)

Oopsi and I have known eachother forever! She was one of my very first Dis friends - and we physically met in person at WDW in March of 2012... I just love her and her family!

And how fun that you get to cruise with them - it's gonna be an amazing trip for all of you! :)

D~

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the update!!! :yay:

Such a wonderful idea the savings chart! I wish i could do that.. so nice to show them why you can't have the 100.00 toy that you will play with for 5 minutes and forget about.. when there is DISNEY PLANNING AHEAD!!! :thumbsup2

Welcome Rochelle and Stephen to the Dis!!!

really looking forward to this Cruise!!!! popcorn::

I love the idea of a family savings chart! And I love your countdown!

Welcome Quackattack, can't wait to see your posts!

Joining in! We will be on this sailing too!

Yay, WELCOME!!!! :cool1: Yet another reason I will never be able to post pictures of FE gifts on here! :rotfl2: Are you on our FB page? Have I been interacting with you unawares??? :confused3 Anywho...you must also feel free to post any of your own advice, plans, tips, etc on here. This is our first cruise, so we need all the help we can get! :thumbsup2

Absolutely loved this update Oopsi!

Ok - I like to think I know your girls pretty well... But I stared at those costumes for at least 5 minutes, and I could see no major difference - other than one was more red than the other. Soooo...

Love your count down calendar... but even more - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your savings graph! That is totally awesome!!! I need one of those... And LOOK at how much you have saved already!!!! SOOOO Proud of you!!!! That is going to be an Ahhhh-mazing cruise!!

D~

Well, since Jillian is so anti-girly I had to get the skull and crossbones costume for her to be willing to dress up with us. I can see where it may have been hard to tell...neither costume is pink and sparkly! :rotfl:

The costumes look great! And I love that you have your savings up for the kids to see...it really does help with the "no"s. Love their little savings jars too. Bradey has his Disney money in two vintage Mickey and Minnie banks that I used to have in the 80's :thumbsup2

How cool is that? I would love to see a picture of the savings banks! :goodvibes

Yes, as soon as our Oct. vacation was over, I was ready to dive head first into the cruise planning, so those costumes were one of the first cruise purchases I made. Now I just have to see when some extra cash comes in to get the Halloween party costumes! :hourglass

Well, Brian was adamant that we NOT take the kids out of school for more than one day at a time any longer...so, we had to change our cruise. Glad we did, since I have already made such wonderful friends with folks on this sailing. :goodvibes

Yay, so glad you made it over!! :dance3: Stephen is going to help with the PTR? OH BOY...he will bring all sorts of craziness and antics when he shows up! :sad2:

Seriously folks, this guy is HILARIOUS! Not sure what Rochelle intends to say about him in her introductions, but his sense of humor is insane! We cannot wait to share the cruise with this family!!! :yay:

Can't wait to see your introduction pictures. I love Disney cruises.

I can't wait to see her introductions too. They were sort of planning the pictures at our house, can't wait to see what they came up with! :thumbsup2

Yes, exactly! Spoken from the heart of another mom of three... guess what, Mo!!! I started something new this week, too. When we go grocery/ walmart shopping each Saturday, every time they ask for something that is not on the list, they have to take a quarter from THEIR jar, and put it into MY JAR! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Joining in :goodvibes

:cheer2: WELCOME!!!

I love the idea of a family savings chart! And I love your countdown!

Welcome Quackattack, can't wait to see your posts!

Seriously, I need those daily reminders about why we are living frugally as the kids do! :rotfl:

I'm jealous that you were able to talk your family into dressing for pirate night. I knew better than to ask so we just wore the bandanas that Disney Cruise Line left out for us.

Quackattack, I'm looking forward to "meeting" you and your family!

I love both your savings chart and the cute jars the kids are using. What a great way to teach them the cost of the trip.

The Pirate costumes are adorable! I did struggle a little like D~ to distinguish who's was who's. My guess is the black one with sparklies is Charity's? :confused3

I can't wait to see what you come up with for Halloween costumes!

:wave2: Rochelle welcome to the crazy world of the DISboards! Looking forward to your introductions.

Hahahahahahahaha.... OMG!!!! Seriously!!!!! I NEED to do this!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I could fund our ENTIRE trip this way... No more bag making for me! :woohoo: :woohoo:

My family are pretty good sports about this. I think I have been "warming them up" to the idea with matchy matchy shirts at WDW for the last few trips. :rotfl2:

Well, the black with skull and crossbones is for Jillian. Yeah, in hindsight I realize that it may not have been easy to tell whose was whose. Sorry!

Yes, I impress myself sometimes with these things. You should have seen Gabe the first time it happened. The child was TRAUMATIZED!!! I caved and gave him a one time pass on it...but he knows it will stick next time! :thumbsup2

One thing I started a few months ago was a weekly Disney themed activity for the cruise countdown. I have not been very consistent with it, but plan to stick with it better now. The activities are not going to be big, just a little something to keep us in the Disney spirit until sail away. We had our first one of the new year last night. The kids wrote letters to a character of their choice. I got the address from Pinteres, and supposedly, they will get an autographed photo in return. I did not let them know this, because I did not want to set them up for a disappointment. I just told them we were going to send letters, and hopefully they will get a surprise in the mail in a few weeks.

Thanks to one of our magical packages from Cheekypoppins a few months ago, we had some special stationary to write our letters on:

Here are the children writing the letters:

And here they are, ready for the mailbox:

Jillian wrote to Mike Wazowski, Gabe wrote to Sully, and Charity wrote to Princess Tiana.

Here is a funny little side story from last night. When I looked at Charity's envelope it was address to Princess "Tina". She was able to correct it nicely, but we were giving her a hard time. "Oh, you are my favorite, Princess Tina!" Etc. Well, Gabe is our little goober and blurted out "You are my biggest fan, Princess Tuna!" WE. DIED. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Oh my Goodness!!! So much to reply too!!!!

First! I am SOOOOOOOOOO going to take their change!!! I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!
We made our jars yesterday.. No pictures... :sad2:

Second D~ NO WAY can you stop making bags!!!!!!!!! NO WAY!

I love the letters!!! I have been wanting to do this for ever! Gabe's comment is perfect!!! Our kids would get along famously!!!!

Felt like being colorful today....

I'm here, I'm here!!! Another ptr for me (since I am doing so well keeping up with all of the other ones.....:lmao:) Hopefully now that the holidays and birthdays are over I will be able to spend some more time on the DIS......but I definitely can't miss this one!! :goodvibes

I love the savings chart! Now that my DH actually knows how much we are spending I may be able to do a version of this.....although, maybe I shouldn't keep reminding him!!!:rotfl2:

I also made a savings jar a few weeks ago. The girls have been looking around for change to put in there every day so it seems to be going pretty well :woohoo: Their mamaw gave them each $100 bucks for their birthday in Disney GC so they already have their souvenir money, but every little bit helps. Maybe this will help pay for gas hehehehe

Those pirate costumes are awesome. We are doing a pirate themed day on our trip. Guess I should've bought costumes after Halloween. the thought never crossed my mind. Oh well, mom did make us matching pirate mickey shirts for that day so I guess we are covered!! :rolleyes1

Okay, not too far behind since I lost my internet for two days.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pirate costumes. They are absolutely perfect! And I love the kids saving jars and your savings on the refrig (a great way to remind the kids why a no is in order).

Princess Tuna? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I love it.

I hope the kids get their surprises from the characters soon.

How cool is that? I would love to see a picture of the savings banks! :goodvibes

Okay, here you go

These have been around FOREVER! They are really hard to get the money out of when it's full, but I like that. Keeps us from breaking into them for anything other than the real thing.

Hi Quackattack! Can't wait to "meet" you too :wave2:

So oopsi....I hope your letters are answered better than ours were. I got an address from Pinterest too. Bradey wrote three letters a week apart, one to Mickey, one to Goofy and one to Chip n Dale. He got one response. They say you get a personalized signed postcard from the character you wrote to. Well, you know the generic post card with them all on it that they send you after you return home from a trip? Has most of the characters and their "signatures" on it and says Thanks for Coming or something like that? Well that is what he got back. He was so disappointed. I hope you get better responses than that.

Loved the letters and "Princess Tuna" Hahahahaha... That stationary is adorable! Where is Miss Cheeky now anyways? I haven't seen her around lately at all. :/

I hope you get a great response back from the characters.

D~

Princess Tuna!! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

What a cute idea to write to a character! I hope they do get something back in the mail.

Our son wanted to reveiw your list over breakfast and has decided that he wants to make his own savings jar and watch Disney Youtube videos this weekend lol
