we have never stayed at the GF, so is it worth it to pay an extra $150 a night to stay RPC over Sugarloaf? It would add another $800 to our ressie. ;)

We stay there all the time so here are my thoughts.

Access to the club lounge in the main building is pretty amazing. The music at the cocktail hour is wonderful. However, we've been staying at the SL more because the main building is just so expensive and over our Disney budget. We love the sugar loaf. Although not as special as RPC, it's still really great.

So if your budget allows for you to stay at RPC, I say do it. If not, you will be pleased w SL for sure. Especially if you plan to use the courtyard pool too!! Very convenient.

Worth is subjective as it's different for everyone, but for me, RPC is definitely worth the extra cost. I've also stayed SL (as well as GV) and while SL was nice to try, I didn't care for it. If I wasn't able to stay RPC, I'd most likely book a GV and the save the money over SL, but that's just me. With that said, if the extra cost for RPC is doable, I'd book it without hesitation because staying in the main building is amazing. Good luck.

I've done RPC once with a Magic Kingdom view and it was amazing. The convenience of staying in the main building and the club level food and drinks as well as the view was perfect.

However I don't think we would pay for it again.

That room was over $900 per night and I can't see us dropping that kind of $$$ again for a room, muffins and evening snacks.

I've never stayed in Sugar Loaf but if you want the club level experience without spending too much it's probably a nice alternative. If your heart is telling you RPC, go with that. But be careful! It's hard to go back to regular rooms once you've had a taste of the main building! :lovestruc

I have done both. Honestly, I would not stay Sugarloaf again. If I can't stay in the main building, I prefer to stay at one of the other resorts. That's how much I disliked Sugarloaf.

Wow, we loved Sugarloaf. (compared to main building)

Maybe part of why I liked Sugarloaf is that we had/used a car. We only used the monorail for MK. when we tried to use it to go to Poly, it was down. It was very easy to duck out of Sugarloaf to the parking lot.

Sugarloaf is closer to the bus stop/QS restaurant. Food is basically the same. The benefit of the main building is the music (If you like the live music) and the convenience to the fine dining/monorail platform. The service was about on par with most other CL's.

That said, While GF is nice...it's not my top resort, especially if staying CL, and considering the extra cost. GF is not significantly better than Poly, CR, BC, YC, or Bwk, in my opinion. Actually, the very best CL staff are at WL and BC.

The food offered at all CL's is effectively the same, especially at breakfast. The evening appetizers/beer/wine selections are slightly varied by the theming of each resort, but all are about 80% the same. GF had deli turkey (but only in the AM? Go figure!) AKL has outstanding food! All have Bud Light, some sort of white/red wine, the same cordials. I think GF has slightly better afternoon snacks (like at 'tea time') but we were never there then. It's hard enough to get back for appetizers.

May I ask what it was you didn't like about SL?

We're still debating where we want to stay this year (or early 2015) and we're thinking of club level again. I'm not interested in WL, but BC club level was better than GF? If so we might head back out there. It's much cheaper and if you get a bigger bang for your buck I'm definitely interested!

that actually might be a deciding factor for us because we have a rental car that I was thinking of canceling because I know the self park lot is pretty far from the main building. I thought it would be even further to Sugarloaf from the parking lot.

We done CL at YC, BC and BWI. It's kind of my goal to try them all. I love the CL level and I know I would miss being able to grab drinks and snacks without having to go to a QS. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the responses, I think we'll just stick with SL. :thumbsup2
