I was trying to find out if hot plates or electric skillets are allowed in the deluxe studio rooms with kitchenettes at DVC. I know I've been in some rooms(at other hotels) that have kitchenettes with burners in them. Thank you!! :)

While I know members do bring electric skillets with them, this might be a question to ask via email to Member Satisfaction. Hot plates just aren't that safe.

Thank you! I'll do that. :) I was thinking more of an electric skillet type thing. Just something to cook a small breakfast in the mornings. :)

Studios are made to cook in, there isn't an exhaust fan and cooking in them could result in a $250 cleaning fee.

Thank you! I was hoping since it was a kitchenette it would be possible. My Husband and I have been considering DVC for quite a while. I was hoping to make the most of the circumstances since we don't need a 1 bedroom just yet. Thanks again!!

I do know that hibachi grills or other grills are not permitted in the villa (and you wouldn't want them because of carbon monoxide), nor on the balcony or porch at any time.

Have you thought about using the grills outside - might be too much work though for breakfast - just a thought.

portable grills, hot plates and electric skillets are not allowed from what I've seen. I've discussed these issues directly with DVC in the past.

We have taken a Mickey Waffle Maker into the studios to make breakfast in the room.

Have you seen a studio "kitchen"? Most don't have enough counterspace for another appliance, they're quite compact. But they do have a toaster, coffee maker, and microwave, which I find to be more than enough for cooking up a decent breakfast. We make toast and scramble eggs in the micro, or bring frozen bacon-egg-cheese biscuits. You can also get pre-cooked waveable bacon if that's what you're craving for breakfast.
