What Disney Wonder shows are not to be missed?!

I have a "portable electro shock machine"!!! Hahaha. I use it often. I'd rather be forced to sit through that DREADFUL Welcome Aboard show and have it be mandatory like the life boat drill rather than miss the cruise in its entirety.... but WE enjoyed the Toy Story show and know many others who also have. But that's okay, you can stay home...it'll just make the ship a little less crowded for the rest of us! hehehe

Oh I am not staying home. Since going to the show is not mandatory it will be at least one night, out of 15, I know for sure I will not be in the Walt Disney Theater. Also the entertainment people at Disneyland pretty feel like me. They sent part if their entertainment department on the Wonder, undercover ( yes undercover cause I know one of the people who went) to see the show after the public outcry when Disneyland announced they would close Aladdin and open Toy Story from DCL. The Disneyland entertainment team put a stop to that saying it was not Disney Quality. Still I am happy you like it. Someone has too. Sent from my iPhone 5 using DISBoards

We sailed for the first and only time on the Wonder in Nov 2011 and it was all those shows. How often do they get changed? One of the reasons I was bummed about the fact that we are taking our second cruise on the Wonder is the fact we have already seen the shows.

They rarely change the shows. It's the same shows as our first cruise back in 2010.

Some are different. We have been on the Dream twice so we have already seen golden mickey's. You would think they would at least make sure shows were not repeated from ship to ship. At least when we go on wonder, golden mickey's is a show we wouldn't mind seeing again.

I really like Disney's own show..all abroad is overview introductions of what you will do next several days..It is not necessary..

Glad I'm not the only one who felt Toy Story was a let down... It was the only one my 20 month old son couldn't sit through... All the other shows, he sat in my lap and just intently watched...

I'll say this, while I didn't like the Toy Story show at all I did think the costumes were cute and well done. It's probably worth seeing once. And who knows? Maybe you'll be one of the lucky few who enjoys it.

Exactly. The first time we saw Toy Story, the cast was absolutely spectacular! Although I felt the show itself moved very slowly and Sid was very irritating on the ears.

The only reason we saw it the second time was because there was a technical problem during the first show, causing a 10 minute delay in the middle of the show. The second time, the cast, while good, I didn't think was nearly as good as the first one we had seen. And the Sid character had really developed a very intense screeching sound that was hard to take. Again, there was a (different) technical problem delaying the show.

So, we did go to it a third time. Thankfully the show ran straight through. And Sid has now reached new heights in shrieking! So, we will not be seeing it again.

I enjoyed Toy Story, but if you aren't planning on seeing all the shows Disney Dreams and the Golden Mickeys should not be missed. As for the Welcome Aboard show on the first night, it's fine if you are a first time cruiser, there is just too much talking by the cruise director in it.....

In 20+ cruises, I've never met a cruise director who wasn't in love with hearing himself talk.

The All Aboard show is basically previews of coming attractions, so it's not necessary.

The staging of Toy Story and all the over-size toys is great, but we did get tired of Sid's screeching.

Scott Pepper alternates between the Magic, Wonder, and an occasional RCCL show, so he may or may not be on your cruise. DCL changes performers more often than they change the musical production numbers.

Argh. I can't stand Scott Pepper's show. He's a nice guy, but I find him BLAH.

Also - we have Main seating at 5:45 so I'm assuming we will eating and then we will see the show.... Shows start at 8pm? --- are there a lot of cranky kids in the theaters??

We will have a 7 year old and a 2 year old with us and being that late I'm not sure if the 2 year old will make it all the way though the play

I believe they only hire that type of person for the job. You have to be very talkative and bubbly to get the job.

The shows are usually around 45 minutes to an hour.

The Golden Mickeys is a good show. Disney Dreams was fantastic. Definitely our favorite. We skipped Toy Story and the reviews we heard were mixed.

A few things to consider here, (1) that the performers rotate regularly say every four to six months, (2) DCL updates shows regularly it's the same show but they tweak it, I have seen Golden Mickey's for example and it changes every time.

I was on the Wonder in August 2013 and all the shows were fantastic, Toy Story had some bad press here, and it was the best show I saw on that cruise.

So if posters here are saying it's not good, maybe they saw an earlier version, anything and experience has a sell by date and anyone undertaking research should take into account, when someone saw something as the cast and content may change.

In the end it's personal preference what one person may like another May not.

I would say for anyone's first time, go and make up your own mind, never miss a show because it got some limited bad press.

An example on the Magic we had a fantastic female singer who is brilliant at 'the lion king' I would go to the show just for her, we have seen her many times on the Magic and miss her if she is not on, it's the same show a different performer, the cast members make an important contribution to any show.

All our shows were a full hour we didn't have anything shorter.
