a question for middle aged ladies.....

I was 45 when I was officially done. Thankfully the hot flashes weren't too bad. I think I got off easy. ;)

I was 50. One of the happiest days of my life.

I had my last period just before I turned 50. (I'm 55 now). Glad it is GONE. Although I still have hot flashes ... more than 5 years later. WTH?

But the Doctor says she can do a procedure called ablation, where they insert a ballon type thingy and fill it with water and make the water very hot and it burns the uterine walls and will hopefully put an end to Flo forever. I told her yes do it please while you are in there.

My mom had an ablaton when she was. oohh I guess 45-ish, and it really really helped her a LOT

she loves having it done and had no regrets.

Our family has a history of really really heavy and llooonnngggg cycles. So they went in burned everything out and shes been great since.

I myself silently suffered from endometriosis for years, it was horrible. My mom just would tell me, thats how women in our family have it, little did she know it was way worse than that. I ended up having a laser lapro to basically laser everything to mush. I felt better for a while, but by two years later I was right back where I had been.

I got an IUD and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, I never ever get my period, I don't have big hormonal changes, etc.

I was 55. Aside from hot flashes and several night sweats, I breezed through menopause.

I was done and over with at 50 and have never been happier!! So glad thats done and over with! I was in perimenopause by 40.

I turned 53 in Sept and still get hot flashes but I've been done with "Flo" for about a year and a half now. So whatever that equals out to. :rotfl2:

....and what do ya have against ME???

AVERAGE age is 51. That means there are plenty before that age and plenty after that age.

Menopause ain't for wimps... TONS of women are miserable before, during and after. Getting rid of the monthly is just part of the process....

I'm still having hot flashes after 6 years. Mine come whenever they feel like it whether it be morning, noon or night. I was 52 went Aunt Flo said her goodbyes to me.

I think I was 48. Might have been a little earlier than that. I went through it really easy thank goodness. Some of my siblings have had a really tough time of it.

I was 39 when I started to miss and dr said I was to young to be going through the change. Seemed like I would get it every other month for about 6 months and then nothing. Gave me hormones and told me if I was 3 days late to take them. I did that for a few months and then it was time for our Disney vacation. I decided that was it for the hormones and never had my period again. I was 42. The hot flashes were not to bad and then they stopped. After a few months the hot flashes started again (someone told me this would happen) and then they stopped again.

45 and still can set my clock to how regular I am. It doesn't look like the end is in sight, unfortunately. :(

I was almost 52, it will be 2 years at the end of the month. I always remember it because I was in the car dealer buying my car and had to keep running to the restroom. Luckily the hot flashes were before then, not much since.

I am 58 and I will have my one year of period free in 8 days! For a couple of years previous I would go 4-6 mos between periods. Just when I would think maybe this is it this time.....BAM! Before that I was regular as clockwork.

I forgot to add I went 13 months without anything so thought that was it. Was I wrong. I had the worst visit ever. I ended up going to the Dr. where I had a biopsy done. Was told that if ever happened again I would end up with more being done. Never had another one thank goodness.

I was 39. No hot flashes.

Five years later, I'm just dry all over and I feel like a million years old (some days). :crazy2:

I'm 59 and it was so long ago, I don't even remember for sure! I'm going to say 44 or 45ish. NO SYMPTOMS at all...just no periods. My mom was the same way. Lucky us!

I was about 43 - I'm 52 now. I still have the occasional hot flash - but mostly my "thermostat" has always been messed up. I'm just always to warm - very different that a hot flash.
