Recommendations for a professional flat iron?

I had an old CHI dinosaur that worked perfectly for about 7 years. It finally started to kick the bucket a few months back. I have gone through 2 of the newer Chis in 3 months, they just stop getting hot. They feel lighter and clearly are nothing like the old ones. They do not do near as good of a job either. They are very different than the oldie but goodies. They definitely do not make them like they used to.

I am not interested in a drug store flat iron I have very thick hair and need a pro. I tried the Babybliss and didn't care for it. The Sedu is ok, but not as good as the old CHI. Nothing works like my old CHI. But the new CHIS are not at all like the old one either.

A friend of mine who is a hair dresser recommended Croc to me. I bought it about two years ago and it's still going strong. I have thick frizzy hair, and it's been able to straighten it pretty well, and it stays straight until I wash my hair.

ghd

That's what my stylist uses and I bought one a couple of years ago when my CHI died. LOVE IT. The ghd is pricey but worth it if you use it everyday and need a good hot iron.

My DD has been having the same issues with the newer CHIs. They are terrible and she actually has fairly straight, fine hair and they don't work.

My stylist said that her preference these days for an everyday flat iron is the Rusk Heat Freak. I just ordered it off Amazon for $77. Ulta carries it too.

My DD's friend has a nice one that she got from Sally's. The brand is Jilbere (it's around $70). My DD said it works really well.

Timely thread! I just ordered a Chi for my daughter. Maybe I'll return it and look for one of the others posted.

I have a Nano Titanium by BaByliss Pro that was recommended to me by my hair dresser. It's the same one she uses everyday. I bought this one after my 10 year old Chi died. It's pricey but I love it.

I really like my Paul Mitchell Pro Tools that my parents got me for Christmas about two years ago. They got it from the salon where I get my hair done. It still works great and straightens my hair relatively quickly (I have very curly hair) and only takes a minute to heat up. I believe it cost about $150 or so, but I use it almost daily (less so in the summer) and it has been great.

I have a Croc 2 infrared flat iron that I really like. My stylist uses the brand in her salon and after seeing the results she was able to achieve with it, I had her order one for me!
