Following the most recent test at Disney's Pop Century Resort,
Key to the World cards will no longer be given to guests at check-in at the All Star Resorts.

The change begins today (Dec. 2) at Disney's All Star Sports,
December 4 at All Star Music, and
December 6 2013 at All Star Movies.
The program will also continue at Disney's Pop Century Resort.

All guests will receive a MagicBand, but a Key to the World card can be requested.
However, it will not have an active magnetic strip,
meaning it cannot be used for regular FASTPASS,
but can be used in place of, or in addition to a MagicBand.

Interesting that no Deluxe or Mods are being "tested" in this fashion. The test sure didn't roll out with just the Value resorts.

Thanks for the heads up Robo :thumbsup2

We'll be there in February...again.

ETA: This actually scares me a little. The KTTW cards have worked so well for us in the past (but not the stupid paper tickets that we get, which we'll apparently still have)

Just for clarification for a friend...As it stands at the moment, guests at these resorts, with plastic tickets, even when they are linked to MDE, should still be able to use the tickets to pull legacy FP, right?

If this new FP+ only system is so awesome, why aren't they rolling it out to their biggest spenders first?

But please don't Disney, especially not Kidani Village

Ruh roh. Those that switched from POP are gonna be peeved! I check in to ASMu on Saturday but never expected to even be able to double dip. popcorn::

If you mean tickets not linked to the resort stay, but purchased separately from the resort stay... yes.

(AFAIK, that is.) I'd not sure that I'd want to link the stand-alone tickets to the MagicBand, just in case.

I think they are just starting with the biggest resorts first.

In any case, I bet all of the cards that can pull FP- will be gone from all of the resorts very quickly now.

That's the grey area...They didn't purchase the tickets as part of a package but HAVE linked them to MDE...Guess they should just try the FP machines when they get there. :L

Yep. There's no mistaking the way they are moving along with the removal of cards that can pull fastpasses. Wonder what they will do with AoA since it's a value with almost deluxe prices?
And I wonder if they will get all the regular resorts on board before they start to alienate their DVC members? Should be interesting.
And once again may I say outloud.. as much as it ticked me off to make the decision to buy all new tickets for this trip so I could get them linked and make fastpass+ reservations before getting there, I am so glad I took that chance. I've never planned to double dip just in case, and it's looking like that was a good call.

I don't think it's about resort type. I went in August and stayed at Beach Club and I didn't have MagicBands/FP+. Meanwhile people at POP and I think other values had access to both FP- and FP+.

and it begins...I am hoping it is just the AS this week and we can skate by.

I do feel bad for all those that switched or in those resorts.

Well, they announced the roll out this week for All Stars. But wouldn't they want to see the repercussions before moving onto mods?

Then again, week of the 9th for mods and week of the 16th for the rest - all before xmas week.

At least I have the FP+ I wanted...

I think it's definitely based on spending now that they're taking things away. I don't think it's size based. All the moderates except for French Quarter are bigger than the All Stars individually, aren't they?

I would think they're trying not to piss off the people who bring in the most $$ per trip.

ETA: IMO it creates more issues when people at a cheaper resort can access FP- but people at a more expensive one cannot. Just my opinion though.
