So, we have researched and looked on this site and we want to stay within our UY. Scouring the resales are frustrating. Is there any restrictions on buying additional points from Disney direct (our original contract is resale), can we expect to be treated differently?

No, I don't believe there are any restrictions on any points bought direct from Disney. They won't treat you differently, I think they would be glad to hear from you.

Oh, I see you're from Canada. I could be wrong but I think Canadians have to buy while on-site/on vacation. I'm sure others will chime in.

Residents of Ontario can buy directly from Disney. I think Alberta too. The rest of us are out of luck unless we have a U.S. address somewhere.

Points bought resale do not get the use of the Disney Collections (trading out for non-DVC hotels other than in Disneyland, adventure collection, concierge collection of certain non-Disney hotels) which most do not consider a loss. If you purchase from Disney points can be used for those. That division between the points remains when you have both resale and from Disney points. So essentially, the add-on from Disney will have even fewer restrictions than your resale. There are minimums: 25 points for an add-on paying cash, 50 if you want to finance, and usually 100 if you want price discounts or any other sales incentives being offered. As long as you buy at least 25, you can buy any increment of points (26, 27, etc.)

Assuming they bought after the resale restrictions went in place. They may have a grandfathered contract and have no difference from direct.

We live in NB and bought direct, however we did it on site and when BLT was built.
