*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

If you walk up to the front entrance, just past the Kilt Lifters stage, you should see a podium. Not sure how early it's manned. We've never sat to listen to a concert.

Not to be picky but it is the Off Kilter stage. Not sure anyone would be able to help you find the Kilt Lifters.

Yeah, the only reason we include Saturdays is because we have tickets for PftS. This year, our Saturday includes cheese and wine, French Grand Marnier, and PftS. So we will be busy with ticketed events or FW rides. Trying to stay out of the crowds! :scared1:

Well, we might go just for PFTS again and just not walk around. I'm also thinking that last Saturday was so much worse because of the holiday weekend and maybe another Saturday wouldn't be as bad as that was.

DW and DSIL say if they were the Kilt Lifters they would have a much larger crowd in the area. :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

I knew immediately what the poster meant, but was afraid an Epcot CM whose native language is not English would not make the connection..

(And some of those "boys" are getting old not sure about the kilt lifting LOL!)

Thoroughly enjoyed PFTS last night. Great food ( especially butter poached lobster, waygu beef, braised lamb). Much better variety in wine selections than last week. Didn't seem as crowded. Still annoying people commanding an entire table, trying to hog hi-tops but all-in-all, we had a great time this week after a disappointing party last week.

I enjoyed the party, too, and really liked to food and wine options available. For the most part, DH and I were able to share a bit of a stand up table. Only once did anyone refuse to allow me to share (a non-reserved) stand up table for a minute or two. I stood nearby and ate and was finished with my bites way before the guys wife and daughter even returned. An additional annoyance is the groups that pulled 3 (non-reserved tables) together in the entrance foyers. With 3 tables and 10 chairs, it was pretty standard that 70% of the table was empty at any given time, with 2 or 3 staying behind to hold the tables. What a waste of (non-reserved) tables that should be open to anyone. I attended the swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic the night prior, and noted that there wasn't the overwhelming entitlement and claiming behavior as at PFTS. Oh, do I wish it still had that cocktail party atmosphere it had when I first started attending 10 or so years ago. I don't do reserved seating, because I want to wander and want to move around. I want to meet people and chat for a few minutes. For the most part, I did get the experience I wanted and met a lot of friendly folks, with a few irritants here and there.

:rotfl2: This gave me the biggest laugh of the day! Thank you so much! They will now forever be known as Kilt Lifters!

Glad I could entertain, however inadvertent it was! :rotfl2:

In my own defense, there is a beer (two actually) called Kilt Lifter. Combine F&W Festival and Off Kilter, it just comes out that way. :confused3

:lmao:

Is there a website where I can get individual food booth reviews? FoodBLog has only pictures and I wanted reviews.
Thanks

Honestly its a much better name and I agree with other poster they'd have bigger crowds too! I'm glad its not just me that says things like this because the amount of times I've called them all number of names trying to remember their real name. Usually they end up being the Canadians in kilts but I think from now on I have a good way to remember.

Well it is almost time for the "official" food & wine visit, I had a bit of an unofficial one 3 weeks ago.

They don't hand out wristbands at Chase for every concert. They had them for the Go Gos but not Air Supply.

I doubt I'll post from there, I hate posting from the Ipad.

I've never been turned away from a food & wine event and I've never had to produce my reservation number. They've always had my name on a list. Make sure they don't have an incorrect spelling if they can't find it.

Is it just me or does the above review seem overly...I can't even figure out the correct word.

When talking about the rice pudding from Mexico: "which has a similar caramel and cinnamon flavor profile as last year’s custard. I personally don’t care for the creamy rice texture, but someone who does would enjoy this."

When the reviewer liked a food there was a great deal of actual detail. But when the reviewer disapproves the phrasing seems disdainful. Guess I did find the correct word.

I'm not trying to start any arguments. I just realized I didn't care for the point of view. Also, I'm just trying to figure out if it's just me.

You have to be familiar with Josh, the blogger who wrote the review. He never claims to be some kind of professional, non-partial reviewer, he's just Josh, giving his own opinions (and he has a definite sarcastically humorous style) . If you read his blog he is so incredibly detailed in the information he provides. Mostly with regard to crowd calendars and touring plans. But he also provides extensive coverage of food and beverage offerings, construction updates, merchandise offerings, and loads and loads of beautiful photos. He give those of us who need our daily Disney fix lots to savor. :teeth:

I suggest reading his blog and then you will understand his style a little better.

They told me the days they would hand them out and I promply forgot. haven't needed one yet in 8 concerts.

3 days left. I can definitely say that 28 days is too long a stay though.
