I am a new DVC member and just purchased our annual passes. Now I am trying to get the TIW card. However, I cannot seem to get through on the phone. The number given to me by DVC is (407) 566-5858. I get a very long recording about the program and then sent to voice mail.

Is there a super-secret-stealth way to get this card?

You can visit Guest Relations in Downtown Disney. If you prefer to get it before you trip (via phone) and still having problems getting thru, I would contact DVC and explain to them the problem.

Unless you really want to get it before going to WDW, I'd wait until you get there to purchase it. You can buy it at any of the Guest Relation counters in the parks and DTD (except IG at Epcot). It's valid from the date of purchase, unlike an AP or anything that is a voucher. So if you aren't going for a while, I'd wait to buy it.

You will have to visit guest relations to activate your annual pass so you could just pick up the card there.

Is that the standard way of getting the card? I didn't see anything in particular on the website. If they keep them right at GR, then I have my answer.

You can definitely get them both ways, (mail or GR) GR is much simpler as you will be there anyway, you can purchase one at any GR window in any park.

Most wait until they get the DW to buy the TiW at GR because it is active as soon as you purchase it and as a result the expiration date might be sooner. It looks like you're going next month so I'm assuming you have a voucher for your AP. When you turn in the voucher to get the AP, you can purchase the TiW at the same time.

I'm not even sure you could purchase the TiW with just an AP voucher. If it is possible and you buy the TiW today (Oct 18) it will expire on Nov 30, 2014. If you wait until your trip in November, it will not expire until Dec 31, 2014.

Am having the same experience as OP (when I call the number, I can never reach a live person, just keep getting sent to voice mail).

In my case, I don't want to wait unitl I get to WDW and buy at Guest Relations because my AP is expiring in a couple of weeks, I'm not planning on renewing it, and our trip isn't until late April.

I sort of get the feeling that Disney does not want to make it easy for people like me to buy a TIW card (they want me to renew that AP).

When have you been calling? The website says the phone lines are only open M-F from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. Aside from that, maybe try leaving a message and see if they'll call you back? Good luck!

Buy the card when you get to WDW, at any guest services window.

This is by far the best way to do it, because the TIW activates when you purchase it, not when you first use it. If you purchase it now, it will expire 13 months from now. If you purchase it when you get to the park it will expire 13 months from then.

Use the website www.tablesinwonderland.com for information. Not the Disney website.

If you prefer to order it by phone, then the best way to proceed is probably to leave them a message. They may do it this way instead of having someone answer the phone directly.

We've always purchased it on-site. SO worth it, by the way! We've saved about $800 so far in 2013 with the card! (Maybe this says more about our family eating out too much!)

Just leave a message and they will call you back - in my case last week it was about 5-6 hours later. You will also get the plastic card. Was pretty funny, the person who called me back told me she recognized me from a F&W event.

How long does it take to receive the card in the mail? I would rather order it ahead of time since we will be using it on arrival day. Especially since the lines at guest services have been really long recently.

The website says "Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery when purchasing by phone. " So I would go by that.

Got a new TIW card on 11/1 at the guest relations window at international gateway with no problem at all. Just had to show my AP.

I ordered mine back on 11/7 and it arrived 11/16. And it is the plastic version.

Can they add it to the magic band? Or am I going to have to carry this card around the entire trip?
