I'm also so pleased you enjoyed my TR :goodvibes

Congratulations Brenda!! Your trip report came in as the most popular thread on the Disboards for September 2013!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Neal

Oh Brenda what gorgeous family photos - you must be so happy to be spending some time with your son
I remember when we were hopping onto the Snow White ride at DL and he was trying to call you and you were losing your cell signal - I was beside myself! - I remember being over the moon that you got to speak to each other
Your photos have totally made my day :)

I know just what you mean by not allowing Em to go off anywhere. We're the same way with Mackie, lucky for me she doesn't really like to go anywhere without one of us.

We both bit the bullet this last trip while Maroo and I went on ToT (Mackie HATES that ride), Mackenzie went to get a cinnamon roll she had been wanting to get. Leave it to my daughter to put carbs before her own feelings of security!! :rotfl:

I'm glad Em made it back to the room safely, another reason I'm grateful for Disney, you feel a bit safer there with your kiddos than any other vacation spot. :thumbsup2

I loved seeing the pics of your son again, you have a beautiful family. Will you get to see him again before he deploys back out?

And Ms. Kat, I know exactly what you mean by telling your son to call. I do the same thing with my son and next time he tells me he's an adult I'm gonna use your line. :thumbsup2 I don't care how much of an adult he is, I still want to know he's gotten somewhere safely. :)

YAY for your son being home!!!!!!!!!!! From one military family to another... thank you!!! :goodvibes

Yay!! I'm so glad that your son has returned home safely. He has all my gratitude. I hope you guys are having lots of fun!

So great that your son is home for a visit. That must be so wonderful. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have him so far away. I just want to thank him for his service! Thanks for posting the pictures!

I will join the chorus thanking your son for his service and that I am glad that he returned home safely.

A few replies ago, you had asked me to post once I started my first trip report - I finally started it tonight, and the link is in my signature.

So happy to read your son is home safe and sound! A huge thank you to him for his service and a thank you to his family for the sacrifices they make as well. You look like your beaming with joy to have him back home! :goodvibes

I didn't know you had a son in the military, I'm glad he's home safe even if just a vacation. Huge thanks for not only his service but also your families sacrifice of his time.

Here are more thanks to Chad for his service for our country. I know that you and you, Emmy & Michael are enjoying this precious leave time with him.

How wonderful that you get to have your son for a few weeks. Thank both him and you for his service.
I also wanted to pick your Disneyland brain! My company is sending me to a conference in LA in March and I just had to stay an extra day. I am thinking about heading to DL for the day! It would be either Monday, March 17th or Tuesday, March 18th. How would the crowds be then? Worth traveling from LA for? (I'm staying right by the convention center) And if so-- how difficult would it be to get from LA to Anaheim? I'd really, really, really rather not rent a car! (I suppose I could travel from LA to Anaheim on Monday, stay on property Monday night, and then go to the parks on Tuesday....hmmm....sorry to be off topic!)

THANK YOU so much for all of your kind and loving remarks regarding our son on leave. You guys are awesome! Your words of support and encouragement are heart warming. :grouphug:

Love the little intermission to see your son! Thank him for all that he's doing for us over there. What a strong family you must be to endure his time away. What a blessing to have him home right now! Love the pics of him & Em & you all together. Enjoy this special time. :)

Thank you so much!

I know it has been awesome having your son home! Thank him for his service for us!:cool1:

Thanks for sharing! By the way, I got a Yak and Yeti dinner ressie. Whoop!!
Thanks and I will!

Whoop!!! I hope you enjoy your Y&Y dinner!

How wonderful to have you son home for a while! Please tell him thank you for all he does for us and that we are all thinking of him, and all the soldiers, while they are away from home.

And thank you to all the Moms and Dads who are worrying about them while they are gone.

Christine

Thank you so much Christine!

I am so happy to hear that your son is home - his service is much appreciated. I am fairly new to reading your TRs, so I wasn't aware that he was gone. DH was in Iraq for a year - and that was horrible - I can't imagine how hard it would be to have your son there... (((hugs))) So, is he home for good now? Or will he be going back?

Looks like you had a wonderful dinner together!

D~

Hi D~ Thank you. I just read one of your comments about your DH being in Iraq on your TR so you have lived this more than we have. It is much different having a spouse away than a grown child. I feel for our DIL who doesn't have her husband with her everyday...

He has 1 more year of his enlistment unless he re-ups. You never know about going back but it is doubtful.

Thanks again for your kind comments and I'm glad that you are on the other side of the deployment separation. :)

Thanks for sharing those awesome photos and thank your son for his service! Enjoy your time with him!

Thank you so much Annie.

Brenda, I've said it before and I'll say it again... I was SO VERY HAPPY to see you all together. :grouphug:

Thank you for sharing the photos here on the DIS.

I did have a bit of a giggle where you mentioned that Em pulled out her Magic Band and the accompanying photo. My, what hairy arms you have Em? :lmao:

Again, thank you to your son for his selfless service and thank you to YOU and the rest of your family for staying strong and supportive of his efforts. :goodvibes

Awwww Rob, thank you. You always have such kind and supportive words, it is appreciated.

Yes, a touch of Disney was captured at dinner! Why yes, it's amazing that Em's arm looks just like her brothers.

Brenda, you know how thrilled I am for you that Chad is home safely and that you get to see him for a few weeks. I'm loving the updates and pictures on FB of your visit.

Kathy, thank you my friend!! Hopefully I will get some more up on FB after our visit today.

Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures of your son, Brenda!!! I'm so glad you get some quality time with him. Thank him for his bravery and service for me :grouphug:

Thanks so very much Courtney!

Looks like you had a great DIS meet and a great homecoming with your son. How fun that your going back to WDW in December! I wish I could go but looks like we might be getting WDW AP next hear. Yay!

It was Charlotte. Thanks, we are enjoying our time with our son.

APs in 2014 must mean you are considering more than one trip!! ;) YAY!

I'm glad he is back home safe and sound! Tell him to keep up the good work...which is to stay safe and sound. I'm sure most here are continuing to pray for the safety of all of our armed forces whether at home or abroad.

Thank you for your kind remarks!! And continued prayers for those who are still serving in foreign lands and separated from their family. They have one of the hardest jobs that they voluntarily signed up for.

Oh Brenda, that's so wonderful your son is home safely!! Such fantastic news! :-) It was great to see the pictures of you all together enjoying his time at home and thank you to your son for his service!

Thank you TM! I'm grateful for your kind words.

How fantastic your Son is home it must be great :)

I'm also so pleased you enjoyed my TR :goodvibes

Thank you Jo! It is great.

Oh my gosh! Your TR was like a dream with all of the VIP activities, dinners, media, and of course the sleep over in the Dream Suite.

Congratulations Brenda!! Your trip report came in as the most popular thread on the Disboards for September 2013!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Neal

Thanks Neal for letting me know. :goodvibes I see the podcasts infrequently so you give me the scoop. I'll do a separate post and give you a shout out for being the bearer of good news. :thumbsup2

Caught up! We will see how long that lasts :rotfl2:

Too funny about the silly survey and NOT funny about getting caught in the rain as a result. Your DISdinner but major bummer about the cruise being cancelled, the illuminations one is magical! Still, better to be safe.

Oh you are one of THOSE parents huh?

:rotfl2:

It all makes me nervous, inside the Disney bubble or not! It is hard to know when it is ok to let them go off on their own and it does certainly vary by child. I'm glad she made it home ok! I have no idea how we are going to handle the brood in December. Kids all think they are taking off, I'm the only adult who seems to be weirded out about it (I swear, I am more worried about them as a pack than as a unit of 1-2). I just keep telling them it's all behavior dependent and we will see! :rotfl2:

Welcome home Chad, enjoy this time with him Brenda, and we thank you him for his service!

Thanks Linda! You remembered that - you even remembered where we were - good memory!! He was on a satellite phone and I couldn't get the call since it kept dropping. Oh my gosh! I was so happy. :)

I'm glad your son is home safely! Enjoy your time with him!

Thanks Melissa! We certainly will!

Thanks Camille!! Now that Em's had a taste of freedom, no telling what our next trip will be like! :rolleyes1 She may want to escape more.

Mackenzie hates ToT?? What? I'll fill her spot since it is one of my favorites rides.

Thanks so much for your kind comments! Hopefully he'll spend his next year in Ft. Bliss in Tx and not be deployed again. We shall see.

YAY for your son being home!!!!!!!!!!! From one military family to another... thank you!!! :goodvibes

Thanks Khaleesi!! From one proud Army mom to you - thank you for your family's military service as well.

Yay!! I'm so glad that your son has returned home safely. He has all my gratitude. I hope you guys are having lots of fun!

Thank you Jennifer! Fun, laughter, eating, lots of stories, yeah, we are enjoying all of that.

So great that your son is home for a visit. That must be so wonderful. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have him so far away. I just want to thank him for his service! Thanks for posting the pictures!

Thank you Mary Ellen. I appreciate your kind words.

Thanks Ashley! I'm a pretty happy mom, that's for sure!

I didn't know you had a son in the military, I'm glad he's home safe even if just a vacation. Huge thanks for not only his service but also your families sacrifice of his time.

Thanks! He's my baby boy! Thank you for your supportive and kind comments.

Here are more thanks to Chad for his service for our country. I know that you and you, Emmy & Michael are enjoying this precious leave time with him.

Thank you Kathy!! We definitely are... I just wish we had more time together. I do have to share him with his friends, his wife, his other relatives.. you know, it's not all about me!! :p

Thanks again!

How wonderful that you get to have your son for a few weeks. Thank both him and you for his service.

Thank you Kylie!

Tuesday crowds any time are usually less, Mondays in March shouldn't be too bad. I would definitely go! You will be about an hour or more from Anaheim if you are staying in Downtown LA. (I suggest going to Anaheim the night before and stay at a hotel near DL to maximize your time.)

You would likely have to rent a car since a taxi or shuttle service may be expensive. They may have the trains that go from LA to Anaheim (I know there is a station at the Angel Stadium) but I'm not too familiar with those.

No worries, glad to help. Although, I don't think I was much help! ;) But bottom line, go the night before, stay over near DL and then enjoy the parks. I would suggest park hopping to CA Adventure as well.

Hi Cynthia! You slipped in there ninja style!

Ahhh yes, our reward for taking the survey was perfect timing with the rain. What can you do? And yes, Plan B with the Dis pals was wonderful.

Speaking of which, I believe you have a special Dismeet today!!! I hope you enjoy!!!

Honestly most kids are completely fine left on their own in WDW and probably makes it better since they want to do different rides than the parents. I have no problem with that. It just MY kid! I've apparently overcome that hurdle. I look forward to seeing how that plays out with your trip with all of the cousins.

Thank you for your kind comments about our son. :goodvibes

Hi Brenda. I'm so glad you got to spend time with your son while he's home. You have such a lovely family, you're very lucky!

Oh my goodness, I got so behind! You are movin' through this thing!!

I'll try to keep this brief, hahaha. Your sunset safari tour looks like it was just awesome! A great first safari, for sure!

How fun that you got to meet up with Paula at DL! And I'm so glad you're enjoying your time with your son! God bless him.

Also, so sorry to hear about your ankle! I hope it's doing better.
