What happens if the lead person on reservation can't sail??

This government shut down is starting to worry me. We aren't going on our first cruise ever until November 9 and it is 100% paid for (including having money for our on board account set aside). But since my DH is an exempt Federal Employee (working without pay right now), he is not eligible for any leave at all during a shut down.

So my question is, what happens if he can't sail with us? Could the "lead" passenger title be transferred to me? Can we transfer his fare to another passenger (paying the transfer fee of course)? Anyone ever done that before?

I know this is a worst case scenario and I really do believe it will be resolved long before then. But I thought it would be resolved before now too. I am also fully aware that there are people who have a lot bigger problems stemming from the shut down than wondering if they can go on a cruise next month. (And if it's still shut down in four weeks, we'll have much bigger problems than the cruise too. Like how to make the mortgage payment, but that is a whole separate issue.)

And this doesn't need to turn into a big political discussion, I just really want to know what to expect if the worst happens.

I've never done it myself, but I've heard that you can. Good luck and sorry to hear your DH might not be able to go.

I believe that "everyone" on a reservation can change EXCEPT for ONE person that was originally booked.

So you are good to go ... and swap out one person for another.

Yes. I hope that it doesn't come to that for your family though. After the 30 day mark, there is a $50 change fee.

I am so sorry. I am sure even if the policy were normally a problem, Disney will assist you anyway they can.
