If you are going to throw a tissy fit, at least do it with knowledge.

Alligator Bayou has a back woods New Orleans Bayou feel. I'm sorry you didn't like it.

However, the Garden View booking does not guarantee you either Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend, only a view of the Garden.

I'm sorry your still steaming over this long after the gracious staff met your demand.

I agree. You are lucky to be in disney, take that with a grain of salt because there are much less fortunate people in the world.

Thank you, same to you!

135 days to go - yippee! Kids don't know yet and I'm having trouble keeping the secret (it is their Christmas Present). :-)

Surprise ones are the best! We did that one year before moving here and she didn't believe us even after telling her at the airport. She thought we were just eating dinner there.

But Glad to have you coming down!

That's awesome. :-). Kids have such an interesting way of processing things.

We are going in Feb so they will have a couple of months to get used to the idea. :-). We are putting Mickey T-shirts, autograph books, and a kid's travel guide under the tree as "hints". Will see if they guess on their own. :-)

Quick question about the slider-do you think it will still fit on the band with the grey part removed- we had to make it smaller for my daughter like it says to. Thanks

It is they can sometimes have trouble accepting things. LOL, especially if its something like Disney World thrown into the mix.

Well I hope you have a wonderful and magical stay with us when you come to POR and WDW!

Thanks! Kids' and DH's first time, and my second (I was 11 when I went). It's going to be AWESOME! :-)

Musty... I recently read an explanation that just about any room in a resort that isn't in constant use can and will get musty FAST. Which explains our extreme issue at SSR last Feb when the mildew (or mold...I'm so sensitive that I don't know if there is a difference in smells) was so overwhelming I was quite ill quite quickly. That section of SSR had just been renovated so I was mystified. But when I read that the other day things became more clear to me. Though I couldn't have stayed longer in that room. I'm just not angry with the place now. :)

YAY for por's housekeeping!!!!!! At around 8pm last night I finally asked DH where he had packed my kindle, and found out he hadn't. Tore through the bags to make sure it hadn't snuck in anywhere, but no. So we made our way from our universal resort to POR and they had it. SO thankful.

Might be a little loose, but that shouldn't be a problem. I used mine to slide over the sections where the band overlaps to snap together because I was paranoid about it coming open and losing it.

Yes, did this on DD's, it's loose but it still hangs on (and glows, LOL). The bands are really well made, haven't had any issues with them coming undone.

Just costumed up, on our way to MNSSHP!!

Leaving in 36 hours! Worked my last day today! So wish I didn't have this pesky sinus infection. :(. But excited nonetheless. :)

I just pointed out that your statement about AB rooms being old and not refurbished was wrong, no need to lash out at me because you didn't like your room. By the way, all rooms at WDW have had a non working refrigerator at some point this year. It wasn't just your room and it wasn't just at POR AB. Unless you booked and paid for a Royal Guest Room you aren't guaranteed a room in Magnolia Bend. That's just a request.

I'm sorry if it sounded like I was lashing out, unknowlegeable, and ungrateful. I guess everyone missed the previous post about our asthma and allergies which is the real reason we had to change rooms. I admit I don't express myself very well when I feel strongly about something.
I have stayed at Port Orleans before and many other resorts and made about 15 trips to Disney. I did know about the the problem with the refrigerators, the New Orleans Bayou theme (hence the name alligator bayou). I still have a hard time understanding how that particular room had been refurbished just last year. None of that really matters. I was just trying to give a heads up to the poster who had a question about the rooms to prevent them going through what we did. It was obviously the room assigner trying to push off a less than desirable room(for some) since they immediately had the room I had asked for and noted on my reservation along with Medical issues notes. Unless you or a close family member has asthma or severe allergies you may not realize how emotional it can make one trying to prevent attacks.

Thank you for that explanation about the mildew/mold. It does make sense because we have to even leave closets open a little at home to keep them aired out. I'm sorry you had to experience that at SSR. I guess it can happen at any resort.

Thanks and have fun tonight it is sold out right? You'll have to report back about how it went! We are planning on attending the Nov 1 party.

Just checked in this evening. Was hoping for a mansion room (I didn't want to send a fax, but my AAA TA supposedly out in the reservation request) but ended up in Alligator Bayou. Wasn't thrilled initially, but it's actually super cute! And clean and well themed! Explored a little bit, and we love the resort! It's so beautiful and we loved walking around. Looking forward to hitting Food and Wine tomorrow!
Edit: I requested a corner room, top floor during online check in, and we did receive those :)

Your right, I don't know about asthma. Thanks for your note, Maybe they missed a room or it had been shut up for a while.

Back last week from my first stay at POR. Loved it and was sad to leave especially since it was just a short two night stay. We had some trouble at check in. Room wasn't ready when I first started the process but was my the end of the 45 minutes!

Though I had made no specific requests at booking I did request upper floor, corner room during online check in which was met. It was in AB plus it happened to be the exact room I thought I would like based on the layout map!!!!! I made no requests during the check in ordeal either as I just wanted to be as polite as possible since it was really beyond their control(for the most part). Do you think it is more likely you would receive corner room in AB as it looks like there are more in that section?

I hope to be able to enjoy this resort in the future and can see why some are so smitten about it. I am on my iPod right now so until I get to a PC I don't know how to change my ticker. this was for my past trip where I had started at ASMu so it was nice to wind up the trip here:-)
