We are sailing for the first time in April 2014....is there a club or kids activity that my boys can go to together.... they will be 12 and 7.

My kids were 12 and 9 this past Aug when we sailed the dream. My 12 year old was able to do the kids club - oceaneers lab and club (with her 9 year old brother), and the Edge club. I heard its basically the decision of the counselors at the time of the cruise. But we sailed a sold out cruise and no one thought to question us when I registered her for both. Hope this helps!

Oceaneer's Club/Lab is for ages 3-12, and Edge is ages 11-14. For your 12 year old (in the overlap age group (11-12) he will have the ability to go between the two. The 7 year old will only be able to use the Club/Lab.

Oceaneer's Club/Lab, Edge, and Vibe are included in the cruisefare. Once the max number allowed in any specific club is booked on the cruise, DCL will not accept reservations for anyone else in those age groups. They are open pretty much all day (approx. 8am-midnight, 1:00 am, 2:00 am). Kids can go whenever they wish.

Thanks is booking done in advance or is it more of a walk in thing ??

You just take the kids when they want to go. If they are at max capacity, it usually doesn't take long for someone to leave.

You can pre-register your younger child in advance through the DCL website, at the same time you register for other ship activities such as excursions. You'd go to "My Cruise Activities" and there's a link to pre-register your child. It helps to pre-register in advance, because you don't need to wait in the long lines on the ship to register your child for the Club or Lab.

I don't remember what the cutoff age is for pre-registration, but on our August cruise, we were able to pre-register our 8 year old. I don't think we were able to pre-register our 11 year old -- I think this is because she was eligible to go to the Edge (Tween club) which lets the kids come and go as they please.

Hope this helps.

If your 12yo wants to go to the club/lab, you will have to register them at the terminal or on the ship since you can't do it online. They will be issued a wristband at that time.

Which ship will you be on? On any of the ships, the boys might enjoy playing mini golf and hanging out on the sports deck. On the Dream and Fantasy, there is also the Midship Detective Agency. The Aquaduck is fun as well, and they could ride together.
