Magic band split stay experience

We are ending our vacation tomorrow and I just wanted to post that our magic bands worked great except for one small observation. Has anyone else observed this or can comment if this was just a glitch?


We booked room only at AKL. Got our bands here. Then our Package with room, parks FD etc. Started at POR.

On AKL check out day I got up super early to check in at POR so we had passes and FD credits ( durin this my mom got bell services to transfer luggage) . Went back to AKL. Found out our bands no longer worked for our room?! I did not have time to ask as we were running super late for our CMs ADR and room was empty. ( I wanted to go back to pee and do final room check and was locked out).

I had chatted with a CM at the Poly doing the Magic band surveys and mentioned this. He was no checkin expert but commented that most likley the system wont alllow double access to two resorts. Anotherwards me checking in to POR checked me out of AKL.

Good to know. We're also staying in 3 different rooms on our 10 night stay (1 night value, 7 nights Wilderness Lodge Villas, and we added a night at the Wilderness Lodge). I'll make sure we're completely done in one room before we head to the next!

Thanks for posting this! We have a split stay coming up at the end of this month (BCV-->BWV). We have our magic bands for BCV and I want to be able to use Stormalong Bay on our check out day. I guess this means that I had better not check into BWV until after we've enjoyed the pool at BCV!

Thanks for pointing that out...we are doing a splitter between POR & BC in December, and I was planning on doing a similar schedule, checking into BC "early", but I'll probably just wait until I know everyone is finished at POr.

This only makes sense... if you use your MagicBand to check in to a new hotel it's going to "key" to the new hotel and leave the old one behind.

We'd better be careful about dining plans being cut off too until we know how it works since those are linked to your resort stay.

We're planning a split stay for next spring and I'm really nervous about putting my park tickets on the magic bands.

Am afraid when I switch from the first resort to the second resort that the park tickets will be deactivated (or that FP+ won't work anymore, etc.).

Since magic bands are still a test they still gave us the room key cards. I just didnt have time to run back to lobby and grab these to test.
Only other glitch was at CMs our dining credits didnt show up anywhere ( bands and card) this after checking in to PoR with FD. But the server was cool and called it in.

Oh my. I hadn't thought about our dining credits. We will be on dining plan and using credits on our check out day from blt and after we change resorts too. Yikes.

I stayed at Pop Century for 5 days and had dining attached to my magic band. On my check out day at Pop I checked into the AKL and used my dining credits from Pop on my band later that night twice once for snacks than for dinner. The dining credits are available to use until midnight of your check out day. It worked fine for me and i have done this in the past with the cards.
I didn't have any park days available so didn't experience that but the regular passes are good for 14 days after they are activated as far as I knew.
