WDW this DECEMBER - can't find a resort hotel?

Hello, I am brand new to the forum. I want to go to Disney the first or 2nd week of December. I put in various dates for the cheapest and better places to stay within WDW. Every search I do comes up with "not available on these dates, try different dates".

I'm trying to do a package with room, dining and full pass.

Does this really mean there are no available rooms for little ol' me or rooms are available but only the higher priced ones?

Thanks for your help!

Pop Warner (football and cheerleading tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports) is wreaking havoc on the resorts in early December. Keep checking, and try again at 45 days out (when people with packages have to cancel). You may have to be very flexible in your resort choice and room category. Try searching on Expedia or a similar site first, so you will have a better idea in one big list of which resorts have availability. The Disney site only lets you check one category of resort at a time.

Good luck!

First full week in December is the Pop Warner football competition (starting on a Saturday), which overruns one or two values and one or two moderates, depending on how many people attend.

The week after Thanksgiving (the week before) has become increasingly popular (which is my week) and ever since they offered free dining for that week, my resort (POR) has filled up rather quickly. The values will fill up really quickly because the people staying off-site, will opt to move on-site with free dining, as well as values will move up to moderates.

In both cases, it can lead to having only deluxes available those two weeks.

THANK YOU. That may be the reason. I will try other ways too. :)

Are you trying to get the free dining plan discount? If so the rooms available for that promotion might indeed be sold out.

How many people are you searching for, at what level resort and are you using rack rates or a discount?

@Missytara -

When you say the first full week of December, do you mean the 1st thru the 7th (Sun - Sat.)?

Also, you say they offered free dining for the week after Thanksgiving? I was pretty sure that week was excluded from the free dining offer. Did you get a PIN for it?

The last three years, I have gone the week after Thanksgiving with free dining. I already went this year, so I am not sure if it is blacked out or not. I honestly didn't check.

Pop Warner always starts one week after the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So the week after Thanksgiving is the 30th through the 7th. The Saturday one week after Thanksgiving would be the 7th through the 14th. You can see it on their calendar on their website.

Free dining is blacked out for checkin dates between 11/24 and 12/11.

I need 1 room for 1 person, level resort would be the lowest level or the next price up (for instance Caribbean Beach), I have no discount, and I didn't even know there was a free dining plan. I would like to have an all inclusive room, dining and multi-day pass for the entire time with the Hopper.

I can go any day, and return any day, from 12/1 through right before Christmas. I would like to go early in December so snow doesn't mess my flights up!

Thanks for any help you can give me!

There have been reports that the online system is not working correctly. If you cannot find availability, it is suggested that you call.

I just did a few searches and All Star Sports has discounted rooms available the 1st-7th so there is availability, the first 4 resorts I searched were all sold out though so it looks like you may have to search a bit.

As others have mentioned I'd call Disney, it's easier than searching resort by resort and day by day.

They offered free dining for certain weeks and Room Only discounts (5%-30% depending on resort) for certain weeks during Nov/Dec so the resorts filled up pretty fast.

Good luck.

That is new; the last three years, it was the week after Thanksgiving, but blacked out the day Pop Warner shows up.

Disney keeps telling us to be prepared of weaning off discounts and they were right. The week after Thanksgiving has been my week almost every year since 2000 and it went from super slow to fairly brisk business so I am not surprised.

Thanksgiving is late this year (Nov. 28). The week after Thanksgiving is the same as the first week of December. Pop Warner starts competitions on the 7th (end of that week). So it apparently just didn't work out that the resorts would be empty enough for free dining.

There were PIN codes for free dining the week after Thanksgiving. I guess they filled enough rooms that they did not include that week when they released the public free dining.

Sometimes it is just easier to call and have them find the rooms that are available.

I just checked and you can get All-star sports from 12/13-12/20 for $1,342.52 which includes a 7 day park hopper and a quick service dining plan. The free dining included with with the free dining promo is only quick service for value resorts. If you want the regular one that includes a table service meal you can pay an additional $114.12 for the weeks for it to be upgraded, or you can switch to a moderate where the regular dining plan is included.

Follow this link for the free dining offer and remember that you have to book it by the 15th in order to get it: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/fall-free-dine-offer/
