October 2013 - Car Rental

What do you mean by "insider"? Thanks!

It's just their member program. Free to join, you just sign up on their site and get an automatic discount. It was about $20 cheaper than when I wasn't logged in.

Hey Kieshashadow! Are you still sitting on this reservation? Have you found anything better since then? I reserved this for my sister right after this original post and have not seen anything even close since then.

You had mentioned way back that you can switch out coupon codes (my sister does not have an Amex card)....is that possible to do yet still keep the original base rate?

Her dates are: 10/5 pick up 10 am ---> 10/12 drop off 3 pm, so it looks like "we" have the same dates as you!

Thanks!

hi

dollar via AAA link on their website was $150 - something all in today when I checked but don't believe a 2nd driver is covered and the $10/day kills that deal for us.

as for coupons codes, i'd like to think so but the new website is so skittish i'd be afraid to try and change the code. In the past I was able to change coupon codes by calling but cannot remember if it was national or Alamo, sorry. Trying to apply a good coupon is the one time i'd suggest 'calling' however, I still can't get anything but an upgrade to work @ MCO.

Any ideas how to save money with Alamo, national, hertz, or any other one SUPER close to Disney? We need a rental 8 am 10/7--12:00 pm 10/9. I'm paying $35/day right now w/Alamo insiders discount. With a $33 car seat fee, plus the taxes etc its $170. That's a lot when I see ppl getting week long rentals cheaper. We did the next smallest class--compact I think.

We're paying $35/day for now with a company t w/Alamo for 3 day rental. Any suggestions in deals? 10/7-10/9

We used the Car and Driver code, XVC1093, last year with National and it gave us a free convertible carseat rental.

Dollar is onsite and seems to be running cheapest for us. Have you tried them? The " city special tab" has been just as cheap or cheaper than any particular code.

ETA: Dollar is showing those dates with compact car and one toddler car seat as $87.11 all in. Sorry that was noon to noon so it will have a bit higher with extra hour rates.

Not sure how old your child is, but I always just bring a booster seat for my son rather than pay for a car seat. Would you consider just bringing your car seat on the plane?

Where is that located? I'm not opposed to any rental company, well--maybe EZ, as long as its convenient. Alamo and National are great on prop, I've heard hertz is really close to down town disney, I'm not sure if dollar or others night be good options.

That is what we have always done and will do for our youngest this trip!

My daughters are 4 and 7. We have decided to tote the 7 yr olds booster in our luggage, but the other is a highback. I think it's to bulky through the airports, etc for $33

Unless they have moved in the past three years, they are right across the street from the MCO terminal in the parking garage. Same distance as Alamo and National.

Have you tried the Alamo at the Dolphin? They may have slightly better rates.

I'm almost positive you can check them both for free. May depend on the airline, but I've flown several different carriers and been able to check them for nothing.

If you have AAA, you can also get a free carseat rental from Hertz. The carseat we got from National last year was good up to 40 pounds. We put our 4-year-old in one.

Jenjersnap: where are you seeing this? I selected specials, and Orlando but my rate us still $38/day

Dollar is at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista resort near Downtown Disney. There's a photo of it on www.wdwcars.com. There are Hertz's everywhere it seems.

I think I can do dollar, hertz, Avis, enterprise, national, or Alamo. Pretty much all but budget due to location. If anyone sees a rate under $35/day for 8:00 am 10/7 to 12:00 noon 10/9 please tell me specifics! I'm using the SW air disc code and Alamo insiders now.
