To many people live behind the lens today

Decided to break my no photos rule during dark performances to show everyone this. Taken during the castle projection show. I was sitting in the hub next to the chip n dale statue and this was the view.

I can only imagine the hundreds more behind me. And yes after these two photos I put my camera away. Took at the beginning of the proformance.

It's really only not allowed on the dark rides. However, your camera and flash are not likely to work at such a great distance and without more light.

There's a rule about no flash photography on dark rides but nothing about the screens on the cameras. Even worse is people holding up tablets to take pictures.

This is the new reality... so many people are missing the moment, trying to capture it in grainy video and distorted audio recordings. This is the scene at one of the concerts I work on every year. Kids camp out for several days on a downtown sidewalk to try and win wristbands to see their favourite performers, then they miss the whole show... even thought the whole thing is broadcast in HD and they could just record it on a PVR...

Others use their cameras in a way that adds to their own enjoyment of Disney, while being considerate of others. Why would you care if they decide to view it from behind a lens?

I think the OP is making a statement more about living life in front of the screen and not behind it....... NOT flash photography and smart phone screens. Folks ARE going take pictures, or try to take pictures, especially outdoors

I agree, Mom, so long as they're not blocking me or blinding me, then they can do what they want in these situations. The rides are a different thing entirely.

This thread reminds me of a picture I saw comparing the announcement of the new Pope in 2005 and in 2013.

I think it's sad, myself. I sat behind a woman at Fantasmic who watched the entire thing through her tiny little camera screen. What a waste! You can find videos of Fantasmic online. Why not enjoy being there in the moment? To each their own I guess? It is a bit distracting during shows and such to others, though. Especially folks who hold up a whole dang iPad. lol.

genuinely curious, you snapped a photo of the same thing that everyone else was photographing. Did the same thing that drove the folks in the crowd also drive you to snap the same photo? It is inherently human to want to create memories with photos, we all want so much to be apart and taking photos creates that for some. This thread was a hot topic from the start and to me the OP implied TO ME that she was in disagreement of living one's live always through a lens, you agreed to an extent to the OPs opinion I THINK but then posted a picture that you took? did you miss the same moment as well taking the same picture? Just saying and really not hating...really
