How to get fish smell out of the house?

Yes -- buy a grill and use that exclusively for fish! My husband gets a kick out of me grilling fish in CT in January in a foot of snow but I refuse to cook fish in my house. Love seafood but can't stand the smell.

Do the usual anti-smell stuff: put out bowls of vinegar and coffee grounds (separately.) Cook some bacon. Run your dehumidifier. Bake a pie. Good luck!

I used to use a candle or incense. Now we ignore it because we make fish all time.

I used to have this GREAT scent from "Partylite", remember them? Now it is all used up.

It was like a lemongrass/lime thing. I could light that sucker for 15mins and the smell would be gone.

Here's an old nurse's trick: Put a dab of Vicks Vaporub under your nose. Sorry, I dont' know how to get the smell out of your house, which is why I don't cook it--I go to the local seafood restaurant for my fishy fix.

I had burnt teriyaki chicken smell in mine and this really helped when nothing else did. Pour white vinegar into shallow bowls and place them around the house. I put one in each room that had the smell and then out one on a small garbage can turned upside down in the hall. I then went grocery shopping and when I came home, smell was gone! I was amazed, because we had tried everything from febreeze to Lysol for two days and couldn't get rid of the bad smell.

This is a SURE FIRE method to get the smell out.

Let a skunk walk through your house. Just as it is departing, have a firecracker go off.

No more fish smell ......ever.

I haven't ever tried this, but I read on Pinterest, that if you boil some white vinegar it will immediately take the smell away.

If I were you, I'd leave a bowl of white vinegar in the kitchen to see if that helps.

My mom always boils the vinegar. I can't stand the smell but it does work.

I would leave the windows all open for as long as you can and do some cleaning. Topped off with some fabreze or major scented candles, scentsy things or something similar

Another vote for vinegar. The other stuff will just smell like fish and flowers mixed together.

Well, I never did use the vinegar. I just made sure I put all dishes in the dishwasher and ran it. Washed all the pans. And took the garbage out right after dinner. You still could smell the fishy smell last night but it was gone this morning.

Maybe next time I'll try the vinegar trick.

2 things will work. In a pot on the stove water, orange peels, and cinnamon (sticks) with some cloves.

Cut up lemons with water in the microwave.

I do both after cooking fish or brussel sprouts!
