Received a letter from Disney about "no refrigerators"

got the letter today for our stay starting sept 2nd. bummed. have medical needs. i asked if people were really upset and CM said yes, that it is very wide-spread - like 40,000 of them - even Euro disney. i feel bad for them, but the frig/kitchen is part of the reason we chose to stay in a suite. we'll see. encouraged to see at least one person on this thread say they had a frig . . .

for those that are asking - there's some sort of electrical issue with the refrigerators . . . can't be used safely.

This all surprises me. Europe uses a different current, so different outlets, so one would expect different appliances made by different manufacturers than what's used in the United States. In all the announcements and all the threads about the refrigerator problems, this is the first time anybody's ever even hinted at Europe. And the suites aren't affected. At all.

Don't believe everything a Cast Member tells you.

We check in on the 15th guess I should receive a letter soon. Have to admit I'm a bit annoyed - that they leave it so late to officially tell people AND I know folks earlier on got a $15 / night credit and I suspect we won't be getting that.

I know I know ice will keep things cold but it is a pain to go down and get ice daily - fridge is so much easier!

Thank you - that's good news. I'm hoping when we arrive (since it's a slower time of year) we'll luck into a fridge but that would soften the blow if we have to keep filling the cooler with ice (we eat breakfast in the room).

Disney removed fridges at most resorts due to an electrical problem. It's taking a while to replace them all.

Got my letter today. Staying at POR 9/20-9/29. We usually stay at Pop and was really looking forward to this perk.

We were at POFQ 8/2-8/10 and it was a pain to go get ice. We were near the ice machine but it was very annoying after a few days. And messy too

I think it was mid July that they said it would take 4 months so that takes it to mid Nov.

They have thousands to replace. No way the fridge manufacturer could come up with that many at once.

Its most of the fridges at WDW and DLR plus some at Aulani.

They are dealing with thousands of fridges. It was reported that the other day they brought in 500 fridges just for POR.

Well that's good news for me bc I'm in POR royal. Here's to hoping royals get them first since they're more expensive rooms

When I posted about the time frame I didn't realize it was all resorts. Thought it was a wdw issue bc I'd heard nothing about it. I'm not sure why I even mosied over to the resort board even! Saw something about fridges and got all side tracked by that news!

Just got my notification in the mail. We will be in POR Sept 2. Hubby is diabetic and needs for insulin. I will either call or wait until I fax them. so hopefully either a medical fridge or a new one

We did not receive a letter prior to our trip
But whatever

Us either, but luckily,the Poly (or at least our longhouse) was done replacing theirs by the time we arrived (7/31-8/8) so we did have a working fridge.

Glad they finally got on the ball and started sending letters so that it is no longer an unhappy surprise to guests checking in and finding out they don't have a fridge. Since this first came out, I've never understood why they thought that was okay.

Well this thread has gone downhill faster than usual. That being said, let's get back to the fridge situation. I also received the generic letter from Disney. Would somebody please please please tell me why they could not list the resorts that are possibly affected? How the heck hard is that to do? There's some guy on these boards who continually gives the link to customer satisfaction and I'm going to search for that to let them know their communications stink. Anyone concerned should do the same. Oh and people, let's please stop arguing.
