Current discounts for crazy coworker

So a coworker of mine decided that she wants to go to Disney World.....NEXT MONTH!!! Dates are Sept 14-19. She wants to stay cheap and no dining. I was horrified that she just wants to wing it.... I'm such a planner....and I always book 500 days out. I priced out Pop and AOA LM and there was only a $28 difference. Unless there is a discount that I don't know about. She's already missed the booking window for free dining. I am scared that Disney is going to chew her up and spit her out if she goes totally without a plan so I'm trying to get some info together for her. I know some people like to not have a plan but its just out of my comfort zone. So are there any discounts out there or is she stuck at rack rate?

I can so relate!!! My cousin's wife called me three weeks ago for Disney info for the beginning of Oct. this year and still hasn't made a reservation!!! :scared1:I am also a pre-planner well in advance and want to get the best deal to make my $ stretch so I can't understand this thinking! Ugh! Sorry...I have no advice for you.:confused3

All the discounts I see don't start until 9/29 - whatever your pricing looks like it'll be the price :thumbsup2

SwanéDolphin have prepaid rates starting at $129 for those dates. Seems like a good deal to me, especially going so soon.

I could totally pull that off. I've planned a trip about 4-5 weeks out and still saved tons.

I agree with the pp, try Swan/Dolphin or David's may have last minute points available at SSR.

I've gone with as little as 2 weeks notice. Still got ADR and good room rate (AP discount.)

She'll be fine. I wing it on every trip and have a lovely time. I've gone on less than a week's notice, no plans at all except air and a room booked.

There are dozens of counter service restaurants, and I've called the dining line at 10 AM and had a very reasonable number of choices for dinner that day, because of cancellations.

Don't worry, she won't be chewed up and spit out. :) Millions of people have gone on a first trip to Disney with no plans at all, and had a wonderful vacation.

We agree..... :)
We've gone on very short notice about 2 weeks & had a great time. It was in October, not sure if that makes a difference or not. :confused3

Never do any major planning and we have book a trip five days before we left! Was one of if not the best trip we ever did! Don't like to plan out all the details, don't want a spread sheet running my vacation .lol. Bet they have fun even with out a plan.

I ran some info through ebates (cash rebates after booking through their site) and looked at cheap tickets cause they have a coupon right now for an additional 20% using the word cheaperific.
Port orleans 189, pop 112, allstar 102, AA 276, AKL 283, CBR 179, BWI 365 and CSR 184. After using the code word, take an additional 20% off.

If they were going Christmas week, I would be more concerned, but going on short notice in September shouldn't be an issue. So long as they don't care about dining in the most hard to get restaurants, there are always openings for short notice ADRs and plenty of QS choices as well. I seldom plan anything in advance and still manage to have a great WDW vacation.

I don't know about current discounts, but, late September is the perfect time to 'wing it.'

Planners need a plan, non-planners don't.
