There is absolutely no down side to FP+ - just back!

I'm happy it worked out for you on this trip, but the fact you're ignoring is that the test only involved maybe 5-10% of guests visiting the parks those days. Of course there is going to be plenty of same day/"on the fly" availability when so few people are using it. My biggest concern upon full roll out if that your "on the fly" changes that you experienced during the test might not be possible.

my thoughts exactly - also for those of us without "smart phones" or international visitors - we'll have to stand in line at a kiosk  not sure how to put a positive spin on that.

And if I had my way I'd get all 3 of my allotted FP for a day for TSM (when at DHS)- last time I checked that wasn't possible so to me that's a downside.

You know, I can totally see why some people would like FP+.

But what I don't understand is the absolute drive to tell those of us who don't like it why we're out of our minds or stuck in the last century.

Are some people really just incapable of seeing that this is takeaway for some folks?

For our style of touring, it is ride rationing. Until they let us pick the same ride for more than one slot, it will be a takeaway. A pretty substantial one at that.

I'm withholding judgement until I get to try it, but I'll be honest I'm skeptical about it because Disney IT sucks. I just can't imagine what will happen when it goes live with 80,000 people in the Magic Kingdom alone. I hope it goes nice and smooth and everyone has the great time the OP did.

Once again OP, thanks for the report. Love to hear first hand accounts.

Oh, and one thing that scares the heck out of me, I don't want to be that person who needs 5 hours to take care of issues.

I like the idea of it so far, and it seems great during the testing. But I absolutely expect this to be terribly hard to get fastpasses when it goes live. I'm going in September and booked in the first few hours when it went live, but in the following days when trying to modify some times I noticed that there are many attractions that are already full for mornings and early afternoons (belle, TSM) so I couldn't modify my picks and was even told by IT that the slots are full. I can't imagine how hard it will be to get or modify FP when all resorts are using it when it's already hard for a test during one of the slowest weeks of the year. My family is usually a RD and pulls many FP per day, some for the same rides multiple times this time of year. It's a shame rides can't be selected twice and that it forces us to pick a 3rd FP even if we only want two (epcot and HS) Such a waste.

I am experience it now and for the next 8 days. It is not that I want to be negative-- I am just reporting it as I see it. The only pluses I can see is if you like to do rope drop at one park and then pick fast passes for head liners in the afternoon- that would be a plus for you-/ or if you like to sleep in late- you will still be able to plan fp's for later in the afternoon- whoch will be good for some people. I am a rope drop person who would utilize the fast passes all day long- sometimes more than once on my favorite rides. This will no longer be an option if the system stays as it is currently configured. Also- I don't care for the idea of pulling fast passes so far in advance. If it is raining- I would rather be at Epcot than MK. If I try and change my fp's to Epcot on the fly- (in the future)- chances are the prime rides and time slots will be gone-- very similar to meal plan as it is today.

This plan will work great for some and stink for others- depends on touring style.

When it is finally rolled out, FastPass+ will level the playing field. Whether a person is a veteran park goer or a newbie, all will have the same opportunities.

I'm interested to know how many of ypu who replied with the goom and doom actuslly experienced using Fp+?

I guess I'm wondering why you think you HAVE actually experienced FP+ simply by using it in the testing stages?

As stated many times in this thread alone, right now the testers are getting all the bells & whistles yet none of the restrictions that users will ultimately have; and such an incredibly low number of overall guests are even involved in the testing compared to the full roll out.

Thank you so much for your positive and encouraging account. I choose to ignore the dooms-dayers, as no one KNOWS how the program with be configured for full use (not testing.) I for one love technology and progress - bring it on!

Thanks for this post. I was wondering about slots running out.

Once they take regular FP down, I assume they will dump those into the FP+ bucket so that will help, but there will also be more folks using the system then.

I bet there will be quite a rush on day 60 for certain attractions.

Coozie, I appreciate your trip review, but those three options ARE pretty limited (and a bit rude).

My issues, as others have said, are the lack of park hopping at the three-per-day limit. We actively park hop and collect many fast passes per day - and have always returned within the time frame (we've never been the type to collect and come back at night).

I agree, changing the times on the fly is great on my iPhone. LOVE that part. HATE the lack of hopping and the limit!

OP,

If I understand correctly, you had fp+ for some attractions and the old paper FPs for some as well. How did you get the paper ones? I was given to understand that it was either/or but not both. :confused3 I'd be happy to be wrong

Thanks in advance! Glad you had such a great trip!

Everyone has their opinion......Mine is....FP + is going to be a NIGHTMARE when EVERYONE is on board!!! Disney may be "shooting themselves in the foot" with this one!:furious: I could be overreacting, but I think FP+ is going to suck lemons!::yes::

I am all for fp+. and yes I hope it will level the playing field. I really thing fast passes should be limited to one per person per ride per day. I think those people who hog fast passes for the same ride all day are selfish. Some one here posted they rode EE 11 times in one day. I am assuming with fp so now with the new system 10 other people can enjoy a ride that might have gotten run out of fp's. seems fairer to me. After all I paid good money too!

Glad it worked perfectly for the OP.

There are valid concerns about scaling the system up for use by all, and to dismiss and simplify those as the unfounded worries of naysayers isn't constructive.

This. There are not 3 rides in HS that we would want FP for. Just TSM, and maybe StarTours, but even that is not a given. Only DH rides ToT and no one rides RnR.

Same with Epcot. Nemo hardly has a wait even in the busiest seasons, and I don't know if anyone but DH will do TT or MS. Figment and the Grand Fiesta Tour are pretty much walk ons. So that leaves us with Soarin and Maelstrom (we did have like a 40 minute wait for the that one last trip :lmao: )

And AK? I would FINALLY like to do Kali River Rapids since the standby line has always been 90-120 mins and we have always skipped it because of that (same with Soarin). That will be one good thing about FP+. BUT I don't know if we will need/want FP for any other rides. I guess a can schedule Primevil Whirl and Dinosaur just in case I can talk my older kids in it.

We don't ride the mountains (unless I can talk my kids into BTMRR this time), but I can see plenty of uses for our 3 selections there, especially if they are allowing a reservation for BOG lunch.

These are the ONLY positives I can see for FP+

  1. BOG lunch reservations
  2. More rides available than traditional FP
  3. Parade and fireworks show FP (for others, this is not a biggie for us)
  4. The ability to snag a FP for an in-demand ride like TSM and Soarin without getting there early
But there are PLENTY of negatives to go along with that.

Please read any of the 10million other threads before asking this question. Pretty please!

FP+ testers are able to double dip fastpasses, taking advantage of both systems.

Problems with your review:
1. This is not the final product
2. You didn't stay offsite (yes, those are people too)
3. This is not the final product
4. Not everyone enjoys scheduling rides so far out
5. This is not the final product (have I mentioned this? ;) )
6. You likely weren't at the parks during a super busy time in spite of supposed crowd levels

You see, it's a matter of perspective. There is no need to be rude to others who think differently. I am sincerely glad that it worked well for you.

Add in those of us that buy military tickets that have to activated at a park, which means, we can't register ahead of time. We stay at SOG and while "on property", not in a WDW property and buy our tickets through SOG. There are a few things that no one has addressed yet. I also agree that this is just a "test" with a small number of people, so of course it's great for them. I guarantee final product will not be this popular or "user friendly".

And I'm glad you enjoyed your TESTING experience trip. I have also not had any real issues with FP+ except I cannot make on the fly changes, my app doesn't like to function. I cannot move my times around very easily as they have brought on new testers every day. And Wishes FP is sold out already for at least one night so you were lucky to get your Wishes FP back, in the rollout, you'd have lost it immediately upon releasing it.

And I fall into none of your categories. Not everyone is able to commando tour the parks as you were able to so your many rides, few hours experience is limited to a very small subset of WDW park goers.
