Seven dwarfs mine train

late 2013/early 2014 would be great... i'd love to ride it on our feb. 2014 trip. i just re-watched snow white & it renewed my excitement for this ride. i know it won't be a "thrill" ride but i'm excited for the swinging mine cars & the dark ride parts. i think it has the potential to be really, really cool! i hope they add at least a little element of scariness.

We were just there a couple weeks ago and they have a lot of exterior work to go before they even get to a stage where finishing the rock work would be possible.

There was a lot of wire and mesh framing going in to place, and some rock work was being started - but there is a LONG way to go.

We did the Backstage Magic during our stay and saw a good number of elements in the works back stage - it was really cool to see all of the small elements that are going in to the attraction!

I know it won't be a thrill ride in terms of speed and fright - I hope they make it adult sized in terms of car sizes and such - they appear to be quite large, but I have only seen the shells of the cars.

My question is this.... with all of the attractions in the works for MK and the upcoming Avatar attractions.. .the rumors about Hollywood Studios.... where are the rumors about updates to EPCOT?!?!?!?

That poor park gets more and more pitiful each time we visit.

The empty pavilion, the empty (huge) restaurant, the really dated attractions that should really embarrass Disney (Circle of Life video for one....) and the overall appearance of Future World has become so hopelessly dated that you really just have to shake your head. Then you go inside Innoventions and realize that the capacity in terms of attractions vs. empty space is just sad.

Anyway - I went off topic!

Yeah, anyway.... I think it might be just a little stretch to get it open by the beginning of December - but by the peak holiday period, I think it may very well be open by then!

I've read they will be closing Imagination, possibly for phone as and Ferb.

Shouldn't that be ok, though? I like Epcot for the adult-oriented aspect of World Showcase, even though they keep it kid friendly (as kid-friendly as a tequila bar can get, I guess..)

WDW, if they plan to expand/update, need to either continue putting a thrill ride or two in each park, or top load one park with most of the thrill rides. Frankly, if only HS had 5-6 thrill rides and there were none in Magic Kingdom, I don't think that would be the end of the world. Most of the people who crave thrill rides only are teenage boys who could easily go to HS with a friend or sibling while the rest of the family goes to MK for the day.
I know Walt's vision was a park where the whole family could ride most of the rides together, he couldn't have foreseen video games and technology and the complete saturation and over-stimulation of today's kids in terms of excitement.
When I was 16 years old (20 years ago), Space Mountain was considered interesting and exciting and thrilling. But we didn't have all the 24/7 stimulation through cell phones, video games, etc... Now, everything has to be brand new, bigger, faster, taller....

Well we went in November 2011 when the new Fantasyland was being built over :sad1: poor, poor Toontown. We went on the Dumbo ride specifically to catch a peek at the new Fantasyland in progress. We saw the building of the mine taking place and looked like it was under a caste, which I am assuming, is Beast's Castle. I have heard more and more about it lately and still nothing about the opening date. I do know how the ride will be setup though! There will be a really cool train system where it tilts horizontally back and forth on turns! The rest will obviously be a mine. When we were looking at the ride from Dumbo it was like it was cut in half and we saw that it was pretty narrow so I wouldn't say this is for claustrophobic people. It also seemed that there were also different levels of the ride so expect some drops or ramps down.
That is all the info I have on this new mine ride. Does anybody know what the name will be???

If you went in November of 2011, then what you saw was not the mine ride, it was just a hole in the ground at that point.

If you actually meant November 2012, then it would have looked like this:

Disney has been calling it the "Seven Dwarfs Mine Train" although that name could change before it opens.

I wasn't looking at it from that angle though, I was on the dumbo ride!

But in 2011 there wasn't much of anything for the mine train yet. I went in 2012 and saw what is basically in that picture above. In 2011 you wouldn't have seen much.

Yep, here is what the area looked like in early 2012, even less was done on the Mine Ride in Nov 2011:

Anyone know exactly how much of this is dark ride? My impression is the coaster goes through one or two scenes. Probably one of them being in the climb before a big drop.

We are going June of 2014. Does anyone think this ride will be open. Our last trip we missed the New Fantasyland.

It should be operating by June of next year. It is scheduled to open "early" 2014 and they are trying hard to open late 2013.

I'm hoping there will be soft openings during MVMCP in November. DW and I got to do a soft opening during MNSSHP and we felt like celebrities. Anyone think that early November is being unrealistic for this hope? Will this ride be for all ages/heights?

Looking at how much work is left to be done and the pace they have been working at I would say there is no way it would soft open in early November, that is only 2 1/2 - 3 months away.

My husband had also read somewhere for potential soft opening in December. Theres obviously no confirmation, but my fingers are crossed since we'll be there then.

Hi, Does anyone know what the height requirement will be on the new mine ride?

I haven't seen anything official on this. I have read that they want to keep the height requirements as low as possible, but there will be some height requirements.
