I once again am asking for help. After I got home from my cruise there were several things I wished I had gotten. Even though I came home with lots! I am looking for a tervis tumbler from the ship or Castaway Cay. If anyone has any info on how I could get one, short of going back, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks so much.

You might also call Tervis directly. I have bought replacement items directly from them that I bought from another resort that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Which ones are you looking for? I'm sailing on the Dream on Sunday 8/18 and I planned to pick up Tervis's for myself anyway. I'd be happy to pick some up for you and ship them as long as you are willing to reimburse me. PM me your info if you want me to do that. We are taking the Auto Train to Florida and back so no worries about too much luggage! :)

Tervis doesn't have the cruise stuff.

A wonderful dis person picked up a mug for me on the ship and I proceeded to destroy it with hands that had sunscreen on them, and Tervis offered to try to fix it.

They are aware, it seems, that its not ok that their plastic can be ruined by sunscreen when having a mug like that goes hand in hand with being out in the sun...you should have seen the FB response when they said something like "is Tervis your fave beach mug?"

But they could not replace it, as they would have done if I had a normal Tervis product.

Ack! What kind of sunscreen ruins them? The spray kind?

I could pick one up for you, too, if you want. Just let me know.

This is from the tervis website:

"sunscreen

Our products are great to take with you on the boat or to the beach, (we're from Florida) (they can actually be a lifesaver on hot days—though not like a real life-saving preserver type thing) but keep these suggestions in mind when using sunscreen.

Drinkware Haze or Spots

Some sunscreens have been found to fade or discolor our drinkware – as well as many other everyday plastic products. This does not affect the integrity of Tervis products or your ability to use them.

While we can't say which sunscreens will be most effective for you, we do know that those containing TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) and ZnO (Zinc Oxide) as the only active ingredients do not affect our drinkware. Also, aerosol sunscreens may do more damage to our products than creams or non-aerosol pump sprays.

Recommendations

To minimize possible damage to our drinkware's clarity and appearance, we suggest avoiding any contact between Tervis drinkware and sunscreen and to always wash hands after applying sunscreen before using our tumblers, mugs and water bottles. Should contact occur, wash drinkware thoroughly using soap, cool water and wipe dry with a soft cloth immediately."

I was using coppertone sport. We were at the park and I didn't even think about it. When you are out and about you can't really wash your hands post-sunscreen and I was carrying the tumbler for a couple hours before we walked home. I thought the haziness was temporary and didn't even notice it much until hours after we got home. Damage was done.

It's a smeary hazy mess and makes me so sad. It's not structurally unsound, but I doubt there's much market for tumblers with a haze all over it.

DH and DS got tumblers through the website and they had warning notices attached to theirs about sunscreen.

I highly recommend the handles you can buy that slip on the cups. They keep your hands off of the plastic. If only I'd found those before the sunscreen day. Got handles at BedBath&Beyond one random day.

However, this incident spurred the planning for what might be the most expensive Tervis mug ever! (In other words, another cruise)

How many ounces are the DCL Tervis cups? Maybe I should bring my handles with me on the cruise so I'm not tempted to touch my nice new cup with sunscreen-y hands!

There is a Disney Merchandise number, that should be able to help you. But sorry I do not have the telephone number, but Disney cruise line should have it.

I tried to call Disney (with # on merchandise receipt) to get one after my cruise but they said they could not do it with Castaway Cay merchandise. I thought to myself, I guess I will have to go back to Castaway Cay. But realizing that was not realistic any time soon, I decided to have one custom made with my CC pictures. I love it!
